Nice, less crazy spot in KT. Food is adequate and I felt like the staff was happy to see us and pleased to take care of us. No complaints!

I had lunch sashimi mixed rice for $ 14.99, it was just full of iceberg cabbage in a huge bowl, and few tasteless fish cubes on top. Clam miso soup that came with was pretty good. Not going back ever again!!!

I had hoped to have breakfast @ Pho32(since it claimed to be a 24 hr joint) but it was closed, to I was lured in to this place because of the Fluke and Flounder in the tank by the window. I went with four orders of sashimi(Fluke, Octopus, Uni, Tuna). There were no surprises. the presentation was fine, and the meal came with the requisite bowl of Miso which I found to be as expected. The guy behind the counter was clearly new — as he was reading instructions along the way, as he was putting together the plate.

Amazing, unique restaurant that is a must go! I’m hesitant to review it(as I would hate for it to get too crowded) but I feel compelled to since it’s really a great restaurant and the negative reviews are unfair. With all of the Asian restaurants in the city, I haven’t found anything like it. Where else can you get freshly prepared fluke that just came out of the tank? Sunny Sashimi is a really great deal with quality fluke/flounder. Being Japanese, I understand what quality sashimi should taste like. I suppose if you’re new to real sashimi/sushi and don’t understand the delicate flavor of white fish like fluke and flounder then you might call it bland. But for people who will appreciate it, it’s a great find. All of the low reviews seem to come from people getting the wrong dish. Why would you get sushi at a Korean restaurant? This place has Korean style fluke/flounder sashimi and that is the thing to get. It’s a really good deal considering you get the whole fish, 8 dishes(including dishes like assorted sashimi, oysters, sweet and sour pork) rice, and flounder soup. All that for $ 35/person is a good deal. And it’s definitely worth the upgrade to the stone rice. And the service is fine. You can really tell they are working hard and trying their best. I’m so tired of restaurants where the wait staff gives you attitude but this place isn’t like that at all. I went twice in a two week span and will definitely be going again.

I came here twice and both times Ive had the Charsiu ramen which was filling and decent. The appetizers seemed like a rip off though. Last time I had the sweet and sour pork appetizer, for $ 8 I was expecting maybe a small portion of the usual large shared dishes you see at other spots but instead all i got was a small plate with what looked like scraps that might have been left from a previous guests table. the second time I had a steamed dumpling appetizer, again it was $ 8 for 6 basic pieces of dumplings. It looked and tasted like it could have been bought in a frozen pack at H-Mart across the street.

I came here once and will never return back. The menu consisted of the typical Japanese style bento boxes(salmon teriyaki, chicken teriyaki with white rice etc). The prices were pretty high for such basic meals. The part that pissed me off was when a female waitress(mind you she wasn’t the person who took my man friend and I’s order nor served us) threatened to call the police on us in broken English for not paying the suggested amount of tip. Number one the tip wasn’t mandatory, number two we paid our bill. Why should we tip someone for doing their job? I know I don’t get tipped for doing my job why should they? As long as we paid for the food we consumed what was the big deal? Very unprofessional of the staff making a big deal and scene over nothing. The nerve of them putting their hands on my man friend as we were leaving. When he warned that he would swing at her if she didn’t take her hand off his bicep she backed off. Terrible establishment.

We would not come back again… for lunch we did not get salad. 8 $ scallion pancake(a la cert) size is only 5 «just half of another korean restaurant [do not order it]. Recommend another korean restaurant in korean town is better for spending money about $ 35 – 40

I had pretty good lunch at this place! Not sure about the bad review. There BENTOBOX is awesome! I had sashimi bento which is full of yummy fresh sashimi. And my friend ordered korean bbq, bulgogi bento box. Even though this place’s main is fish, my friend loved her bulgogi bento. Each bento comes with salad and soup so the portion was pretty big. This restaurant is japanish-korean so some of foods are more like korean food. Seems like this place new. very clean and quiet.

I just visited this place with a close friend of mine today. I recommend no one ever goes here The service was terrible. The food was overpriced and mediocre compared to sushi restaurants that I have been to in the past. In addition after I paid my bill and was about to leave, an asian female physically stops me and asks me why I did not leave a tip. She also threatened to call the police on me and my friend if I did not leave a tip(which she stated was not required or part of the bill when I asked her). The woman(waitress) also grabs my arm and did not let go until I yelled at her. I refused to write a tip because it was not mandatory and it was bad service. To add insult to injury, this waitress woman offended my friend and I by threatening us in the way that she did and physically assaulting me. When I requested to speak to a manager, I was ignored.

I was looking for some sushi when I came here since I wanted a light lunch. It was empty when I came in, with just two other tables filled. I ordered the Rainbow Roll along with a California Roll appetizer. Both came out to be quite good. I came in for the Lunch Special so I wouldn’t feel that I was splurging on sushi. There was only 1 waiter, so I would hate to see how this place does during rush hour. All in all, a very clean and quiet place that doesn’t hold too many. But the sushi was good.

Really wanted the flounders at the window until seeing a huge roach! I understand that things happen and you can’t be in control of every single creature in a restaurant but seriously, don’t think I’ve ever seen them this big, not even in a Caribbean rain forest!

Finally! found a restaurant with traditional korean sashimi!!! I tried korean sashimi rice for lunch. It was super delicious. The sashimi on the top of rice was super fresh! I know the prices are little high, but this restaurant is only one has an aquarium with alive fishes. Maybe sunny sashimi spends more money on keeping fish alive then typical japanese sushi restaurants. Anyway, I will definitely come back for the fluke sashimi set with my friend!

Only one place where you can have an experience of traditional Korean style sashimi. Before I visited this place I was worried about the condition and small dishes before the main dishes but I was really suprised at the quality! Very same as I had in Korea. Also, some people might not like it but I am pretty sure that it’d be impressive. Anyway, strongly recommed for whom seek for Korean sashimi and new experience of Sashimi!

Redemption for sushi, round 2? Upon the recommendation of Chris D.(which he begat from a baron), I decided to try this«newly renovated» sushi spot in hopes it would wash away the stain that was left by Ace Sushi from the previous days lunch. Once again I decided to venture into the unknown and not order a lunch special. I’m pretty much a sucker for shrimp tempura, so I decided to indulge and order it with a side of eel sushi. While I waited patiently for my meal, but in the meanwhile the hostess nearly spilled a miso soup on a colleague, couldn’t refill our water in a timely manner(maybe it was those small dinky cups) and I don’t think she really knew what was going on at times(lots of things dropping in the distance). Despite her state of confusion walking back and forth in the restaurant, she was very friendly and was just trying to do her job. 25 minutes in, my co-workers all get their meals while I sit there salivating, drooling over all the sashimi bowls and plates that are being inhaled. They offered me pieces of their meal but I didn’t want a consolation prize, I yearned for MYSHRIMPTEMPURA. :( 5 more minutes came and I caved and snuck some of their rolls. When my meal came, it was engulfed within minutes and tasty very good. Well worth the wait? Not really!!! Sunny sashimi was a bit muddled by the clouds surrounding it today, and frankly I wasn’t really impressed at all. :-\ The food here was pretty decent but the service was very sub-par. Does this mean it will be «renovated» in another six months with the same staff? I don’t know, only time will tell. I would be willing to come here again(only because it’s fairly new) but Sunny Sashimi is right in the heart of K-town, with a million other restaurants. Please step your game up and have more than one sushi chef, so my order doesn’t come 30 minutes later while everyone else gorges happily on their meal. My quest for new sushi spots continues, how much more pain shall I endure?!

This place looks exactly the same as the once was Daheen Wang Mandoo that opened up and closed down at this location within the last six months. Dumpling business not doing too well? I guess it was time to revamp the menu and become a sushi spot. Service: Was very friendly apologetic, but not impressive at all. One spilled soup… One forgotten water glass… One mans roll that didn’t come out till the entire table finished eating there appetizers and main rolls. Food: –The special rolls were around 10 bucks and were good. Spider roll was awesome. –The 25 $ sashimi lunch special consisted of 4 sushi, about 8 sashimi, and one california roll. All the fish was fluke, Fresh fluke that was swimming about 30 seconds ago. It was good but Not worth the 25 $ for the amount you get. Over all decent sushi spot. I would stick to the special rolls, and they need to get some drink specials going!
