I’ve been in this place for two times and definitely love their food and their interior design of the place. I really enjoyed great service by the staff. I usually order the pork katsu and wow it’s a really good dish. It’s one of good restaurant in Korean Town(32nd street) and I definitely recommend this place.

It is not really food for dinner, the«seafood broth«cost $ 24. But is only serve for one person!!! Also. There is only half of the crab, and one half of the little small crab, after all. I only feel there was just whole broth of the soup!!!

Love to order their Ramen here for lunch. Usually my go to is Pork and Vegetable Ramen. If you like to try everything like me(like RAW dishes), try out their tacowasa. It’s raw octopus with wasabi flavor. It’s only an appetizer, so definitely get something else. They do deliveries too, but they recently raised the minimum to $ 20, harder to order for one person, especially for lunch. :C The spot itself is quite nice. Above average compare to the rest of the restaurant here at Korean Town.

Honestly this restaurant is rly good for going with a few friends(4 ppl max) and eating snack dishes. Don’t expect to be blown away by their food. Everything is about average except for their ramen. Absolutely disgusting. I took a slurp of the noodles and soup and pushed it away. It’s so bland and it rly makes me wonder how ramen can taste this horrific. But their udon makes up for it. Not too shabby. Their tempura order is definitely a thumbs down but their okonomiyaki was better than I thought. You just rly have to come here without high expectations. After all, it is decent food for a 24⁄7 korean/jap pub. Obviously though, this place will be packed on weekend nights so service is a bit all over the place. My party of 3 ordered ramen, udon, 3 rolls, sashimi, okonomiyaki, tempura, salad, etc. We were starving. But all the servers would just drop off a plate and rush off and we’re staring at it bc it’s not ours and then he’d rush back and take it away and give it to the right table. Nothing was cordial and come on, the tables are small. You give us all our food at once and we rly had no space to eat. We were sitting at angles so as to not hit each other with our chopsticks. We probably would’ve had more space to eat if someone bothered to check on us and clear away all the empty plates. –Which btw, we did ask several times for someone to do.- But, apparently none of the servers were lowly enough to do such a menial thing… which is exactly how they looked when we asked. Shocked at us for asking. All in all, this is an atypical of its stature.

Let’s be clear. This is not some fancy sushi place, and nothing like Morimoto(for which I went recently and was awesome!) This is a 24 hour Japanese pub(J-pub) that serves reasonable fare and drinks for a different type of experience and fun night out. Here they offer perfect snacks to drink beer or sake to(warm sake is perfect for a cold night — which is what we did) and the vibe reminded me of my days working in Japan(albeit without Japanese servers yelling in Japanese at you) We ordered: okonomiyai, agedashi tofu, sashimi combo and some maki — for $ 50 it was more than reasonable and a nice change of pace to do something a bit different I would definitely visit if you have the chance and interest to try a J-pub experience. Note: This wasn’t our first choice in the ‘hood for Japanese, but given the late hour the other options(namely Izakaya’s) were closed

I read not-so-great reviews here, and I only saw the reviews after I had sat down to eat. So, having read the reviews, I wasn’t expecting much. I ordered the lunch special for 14.99. I had the katsu and udon combo and I didn’t think it was that bad as many have said. My eating portion is small, so I only finished the udon and packed the katsu home. The service is quick and the interior is nice. I didn’t feel rushed as there weren’t many customers. I wouldn’t mind coming back here for the lunch special, but I would not pay regular prices for the meals. The katsu was not crispy and was instead a bit soggy. I enjoyed the udon though.

Had their lunch special for 14.99. The Pork Katsu happened to be pretty good. However, there wasn’t any sauce or flavor you’d generally expect with katsu so it was a bit bland. The egg helped however. The udon was just OK. Not much flavor at all. Something between a 2 and 3. I’ll note it down as it was a bit pricey for the quality.

Quality of the food is poor — I was a fool to fall for the beautiful pictures on the menu and was lured into HanaMichi amongst many other great Korean restaurants right here at ktown(albeit at lunch time some of the places are closed) Food: 1⁄5 Value: 2⁄5 Service: 3⁄5 Décor: 3.5÷5 Ambience: 3⁄5 I checked in to get the free tofu-appetizer, which include 3 big wooden spoon each topped with a small cube of tofu, even smaller cube of tuna and some soy sauce. It was like each a cube of frozen tofu(still thawing) with a piece of dull tuna. Imagining eating ice during the winter, it was very cold and very cold. What I had with my party and would not recommend any of the below, + Lunch sushi-ramen combo($ 18.95) — the ramen was pretty good, but the California roll and 3 pieces of sushi were quite disappointingly bland and tasted un-fresh. Definitely not worth the nearly $ 20 I paid for although it did take up a large part of the table the actually food was lacking and forgettable to say the least. + Okonomiyaki($ 14) — This was super salty and drown in sauce thought not very good and too dense contrary to normal okonomiyaki + Katsu Don($ 16) — Bigg bowl of rice topped with slices of fried pork cutlet though missing some of the special tonkatsu sauce(could steal from the okonomiyaki) + Combo Yakitori($ 28?) — The MOST disappointing item of all! If you have ever been to other yakitori places by St. Marks you will probably look at this with the most condescending sneer. All of the skewers were tiny and all shriveled up like they have been sitting around forever. The taste? terrible :(I want a refund! The picture looked sooo amazing and the actuality was sooo far apart. No no no guys! Dont fall for it!

My boyfriend and I came here for dinner last Wednesday. He had mango salad and a fried rice dish, and I had pork & veggie ramen. We both ended up with food poisoning! Stay away! I’ve been to HanaMichi for lunch several times and the ramen was always very good and I never had an issue. However, when we came for dinner the food didn’t quite taste like what I was used to and now I know why! We won’t be returning…

This place is just okay. I came here with a group of friends one night, extremely exhausted from walking all day and was looking for a good dinner in Ktown. Seeing that all the other locations were expensive BBQ places, and BCD which we’ve been to a million times– we decided to come into Hana Michi due to the amount of Unilocal reviews, despite the average rating. This only proves to me that I should always believe my fellow Unilocalers! We were seated right away and saw that they had a tofu salad, check in special. Drawing the inner Asian in me, I of course immediately checked in. However, the free check in special took longer to come than my entrée and did not taste good to me at all. In fact, I would’ve preferred just skipping the tofu salad, it also was not what I expected it to be. I had a stir fried seafood udon, which I remember being obsessed with at another restaurant so I got it here. It was mediocre, I wouldn’t say it was something that I regret getting but at the same time my money could’ve been spent on something better. One of my friends ordered a pork noodle soup, it’s basically a ramen soup. I remember quite liking the broth and the meat was nicely cooked but for some reason it seemed to lack flavor? Overall, I don’t think that I would be coming back here.

Very reliable lunchtime sushi, while at the same time, a little more elegantly served than most of the low/mid-range places in the area. Prices are pretty reasonable for what I’m getting, and although they’re a little more expensive than the average place in the area where you might get a sushi lunch, I think they do a better job of it here than at most other of those places. The sushi menu isn’t all that huge, and it’s heavily tainted with combos using evil spicy tuna or crab salad, but there’s also a good selection of other Japanese lunch favorites like Katsu and Ramen. Service is efficient. There’s always someone watching to see if help is needed. Tea stays nice and hot, water stays filled, dirty dishes get hustled away without fanfare. I don’t really want to chitchat with my server during lunch. They do the job without getting in between me and my meal. Make certain to use your Unilocal check in special to get a nifty little spoon-sized tofu salad bite. I’d give 3.5 if I could, but I don’t really like to round up.

Came here for the first time for dinner on a Friday evening. Let’s just say I won’t be coming back. When I arrived with my friends it was surprisingly empty. We got seated right away, placed our orders, and waited. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. But the quality of the food was not great. I ordered chicken katsu. The size of the side salad was bigger than my rice and the chicken… In addition, the katsu sauce was watery. The order came with a little bowl of curry. The curry tasted like it came out of a mix. In terms of service, our water was not refilled at all even though our cups were empty. Overall I would not be coming back.

Did take out and ordered two lunch specials, kimono roll($ 11) and chicken katsu($ 9.50). The food tastes alright but nothing amazing. Portions are super small for the price. Kimono roll you are paying $ 11 for 5 pc sushi roll… it has a smattering of all bits of ingredients(crab, salmon, tuna, salmon, avocado, tobiko, etc) but is drowning in spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce. Tastes good because it tastes like teriyaki sauce. Not because you can taste any of the fish. Also for takeout they put the piece of Wasabi right in with the sushi which gets all mashed/stuck onto one piece. The only side the roll came with was small container of miso and tiny cups with a few pieces of pickled Daikon and vegetables. While the chicken katsu comes with curry sauce, meager portions of miso soup, pickled veggies, mini mountain of salad, and the smallest scoop of rice I’ve ever seen, smaller than an ice cream scoop. You definitely don’t get your bang for the buck here. Come here if you like paying more for small amounts of food. For sushi, better deal to go to gallery32 food court where the rolls are similar price but HUGE. Most likely won’t come here again..

One dish and only one dish: squash seafood ddeokbokki(spicy rice cake)!! Honestly, everything else is not that great. The prices are very high considering the quality of the food :/the first time I went, my friend found a part of the dish-washing sponge in her udon soup. They didn’t charge us for that dish but they weren’t very friendly about it. After that I just never went again cuz there are so many better places in Ktown. And so many better Japanese places in Manhattan. BUT I went again with a group(it wasn’t my pick) and ordered the squash seafood ddeokbokki. Man that dish was amazing!!! Everything was just so good and portions are huge! 3 people could share it! When I go back, it’ll only be for that dish!

I’m still angry. Let’s recap, shall we? I came here with my friend on a Saturday night after an event we had that evening. It was around 7 or 8, and deciding that we wanted something a bit more… «exquisite» from the usual food court dinner, we came to the decision of going to HanaMichi. I’ve been to HanaMichi before. The experience was good, and the vibes I got from the place was promising enough to eventually come back. I didn’t expect the same kind of service, considering it /was/a weekend, and things seemed to be fine after being seating after a wait of ten minutes. We were seated and given our menus. Things were pretty normal, and after staring the waiter down(who seemed to have forgotten about us), we both ordered the pork gyoza and the pork loin katsu. We received the food in a timely fashion, with the presentation up-to-par with our expectations. This is where things went downhill. One thing about our seating was that we sat in the /front/, where the queue of people waited besides us. Seeing everyone waiting and watching our food… Very uncomfortable. A lot of them just watched us eat, too. Someone waiting actually sat at the extra chair we had at our table nearby. I wish I was lying. I really do. Like I said, I’ve been to HanaMichi before. One thing I remember was getting side dishes. This time around though, there was none of that present. We didn’t even get our drinks. Nothing. Zip. We ordered them, too! I don’t understand how the table that comes in AFTER us gets everything listed above, but we have to get up and look for a waiter to ask for some water. Come on… All in all, paying about $ 40 for a meal with terrible service, horrible seating, and irritating bystanders… I’ve named the chat with the friend I came here with«Anti-Hanamichi.» We’re never coming back here again.

Great local spot! Tried a few different sake’s and they were deliciously crisp! The food was good and you’re probably safe ordering a bunch of different appetizers for the table like we did. Stars off just because I can’t say it was extraordinary, especially for a spot in Korea Town, but I’d go again for some sake and a light snack.

I give them huge pointers for accommodating our huge group of 11 people. They were able to make seats really quickly for us, which I was really glad about. I think we made it just before the dinner time really kicked off, so there were quite a bit of empty seats in the back that we could all grab together. Food was average I would say. I really can’t speak for any other food than the katsu here because that’s all I’ve had the past two times I’ve been here, but the experience was pleasant. I had the chicken katsu last time and the mozzarella pork katsu this time around and both times really crunchy and then soft on the inside(mmmmmmm). Meats are all very tender inside which is a plus. The katsu dishes all come w so many things like a side of curry, soup, rice, and salad. Really filling!

Not a bad place in the heart of Koreantown for Japanese– Korean fusion cuisines. I ordered a chicken cutlet(tonkatsu) and it came with rice and curry potatoes. The food did take a little while to come but our server provided us with kimchi and pickled cucumbers. Overall, I would come back. Pricing and service weren’t bad either. P.S– Try the fried squid legs! They weren’t bad.

I don’t know why but when I’m feeling a craving for Korean-style Japanese, Hana Michi is the place that always comes to mind. I love their Tonkatsu for lunch. The portion is perfect. The pork is always cooked well. I love panko breadcrumbs. For $ 9, I can eat it any day — it comes with a portion of rice and a small cabbage/iceberg«salad.» However, I felt that the pork could have been seasoned a little more. I also love getting the Mini Udon($ 6) that you can only add with a main item menu. I’ve had this same combo both times, and I actually appreciated that each time the udon came with different ingredients. I love bok choy and mushrooms in udon! The broth was delicious! All of the reviews about HM not being«authentic Japanese» boggles my mind because it’s pretty obvious that a place in Ktown is definitely going to take a Korean spin on popular Japanese food. I think it’s a good place for lunch.
