Stix Bar and Grill

Closed. Gone. Just like the one on 23^rd.

Now known as The Lobby. The food was awful. We asked for a burger without cheese. It came with cheese. The fish Tacos had so much sauce it was drowned. We were a party of three. The Mac and Cheese for the third person didn’t come out till we had finished. We were the only people in the restaurant and I’m not surprised. There are so many restaurants in NYC, avoid this one.

Ordered a simple cheeseburger and it was pretty awful. Service at the bar was nice but I’ll never eat here again.

WORST EXPERIENCE! (Food & Service)
— The food came out 40 minutes after we ordered. All meats are partly COLD.
— I compalined that I had to wat for 40 minutes, but he said «No, actually 20 – 25 minutes.»
— I ordered skewered lamb, steak, and chicken as part of a kebab I ordered. Without asking us, he brought skewered shrimp instead of lamb, saying that there are no more lamb so he assumed I can have shrimp instead. He continued, «I assumed you want shrimp too because I heard conversation among you that you might want shrimp too»
— When I asked him to get the manager’s contact information, he said he will give it to me. However, he never gave me the contact. I had to ask him twice, but he said «wait», walked away, serving other customers. When I asked him third time, he said «I can’t find the manager’s contact information. If you wait I will try to find where it is. or you might try to find such information on the website.» But, there is no such manager’s contact information on its official website. I finally figured that speaking with him is waste of my time.
The restaurant was pretty empty, there were about 15 other customers. We ordered two kebabs today, and our server was a young Indian guy. He was the only one serving at the restaurant. We arrived here at 6:30pm and left the place at 7:50pm.
Summary: Avoid unless you want to wait 40 minutes for cold meat. You will get shrimp instead of lamb you ordered, without being asked. lol

We ended up here because I was craving Mediterranean and we were in the area — accidentally stumbled up to the rooftop bar first then made our way back down to the restaurant tucked in the back of the hotel lobby. Succinctly — this is not legit mediterranean, you will get a more authentic and tastier gyro or skewer from one of the street vendors. The meat here was tough, fatty and poorly marinated. The sides were bland and underwhelming. Worth a shot but next time we will skip the restaurant and head straight for the rooftop bar.

Gorgeous space, but just okay food at hefty Manhattan hotel prices.

Since it’s in the back of a hotel lobby and totally invisible from the street, I guess they don’t get many walk-​ins. It was pretty empty and it was nice and quiet after we (a group of 6) could not get a table at a nearby popular place without waiting for over an hour. But that’s where all the good things ended.
Most of the beer on the menu we wanted to order were ‘out of stock.’ We also got «oh, we are out of that tonight» repeatedly when I wanted order a seafood dish. He eventually suggested the only seafood dish they had, which was salmon. It was meh. Awkward and subpar overall.

My party and I were extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. I got the lamb kabob and steak kabob and both were extremely fatty. Surprisingly the steak was even more fatty than the lamb. I think I probably left half of it uneaten because it was fat and not meat. My friend also got what the menu called a lamb and beef kabob which we all figured they would have both meats on the stick. Instead, it was ground together and was dry and again, seemed poor quality. This place was a waste of our time and money.

I appreciated that they let us dine in the lounge area with our dog. The staff is being nice about it and their prices, variety of food is great. My burger is scrumptious. My daughter’s shrimp is fantastic and she loves the rice pilaf.

The only reason for two stars is the staff. Nice bartender.
Falafel sandwich tasted like fried mashes potatoes wrapped in cardboard. Don’t waste your money.

Wow. Sat for 20 minutes before service. Finally called the restaurant from the table, wondering if anyone was going to serve us. And we were, literally, the only people in the restaurant. Clearly, they need to work on attention to customers. Food was fine, but meal had to be rushed.

I will have to say… being a Greek living abroad… this food is pretty freaking close to the stuff back home. The mixed grill and the dips are pretty on point.

Absolutely delicious.
Healthy nice portions fair priced Mediterranean food– kabobs, cous cous, hummus.
All mouther watering.

I have been to Stix Restaurant and Grill several times and it has yet to disappoint. I work nearby and use this restaurant for many lunch meetings. The items I would highly recommend are the mac and cheese (instant crowd pleaser) and organic beef stixballs, the organic black quinoa salad, and any of the stix (chicken and steak are really good). Service has always been good and it is never really too hard to get a table.
For this area of the city, Stix is a great option considering the quick grab and go options within walking distance. Plus, with the items being organic and sourced locally, you now the quality of the food is really good. Very happy to have this place around.

I never been to Stix before but I decided to try this location out after I heard good things from my friends who visited the other Stix locations on 23^rd street and in Astoria. This Stix location was nestled within the Indigo hotel and was gorgeously designed in both lighting and décor. I could see this place as a great venue to meet up with a larger group of friends to grab a drink and a bite prior to a night out on the town. They also have a rooftop which I didn’t get a chance to check out since it was quite frigid the night I went. I sampled a couple of food items including the chicken skewers and mac and cheese balls. Everything was delicious and the skewers were seasoned well and exceptionally tender. I am looking forward to coming back with some friends and checking out the rooftop when it is warmer.
