This is an unexpected surprise. An affordable little isolated 10 fl. terrace spot to pick up a beverage, snack or non-waiter served meal. Fl. to ceiling windows & big wrap around terrace gives nice seating options. Most people just don’t know it exists or that one can access it since there are officials & security folk front & center to direct patrons to the galleries, etc.

It essentially is a cafeteria. On a nice day, you can sit outside, but if the terrace is closed, then just a small cafeteria. I was not impressed.

Great views of Manhattan for a great price! If you’re around the hospitals nearby and have some time to spare, walk over to this sweet little café in the UES. It’s on the top floor of the Sotheby’s building. The coffee was excellent — dark velvet(see pic). I usually order a tuna sandwich on multigrain bread since visiting hospitals always gets my self-conscious about my own health choices. On warm days, you can sit outside on the terrace. On rainy days, the floor to ceiling glass windows still offer a nice experience.

Don’t know about their food but great for coffee $ 1.65 and hanging out on the terrace, weather permitting. The city views are gorgeous(10th floor) and you are in the Sotheby’s buildings with the access to all their exhibits — all free.

Note: Sotheby’s is NOT located in Hell’s Kitchen Comforable yet classy, the UES elite can be found munching here. On my quest to try coffee and studying in all cages in the UES and UWS, this is the only place that reminded me I was in the UES. Not necessarily good or bad, just something I noticed. My scone was good but not cravable. This place gets pretty loud around lunchtime. On my opinion, a cute spot to grab lunch and have a nice look over York Ave. This is my brother’s favorite study/work spot, but Giana’s on 1st is more my scene.
