This was my second time ordering take out for lunch from Sophie’s and i must say the food is great, but the portions they give is not enough. I ordered a LARGE ground beef stew lunch special with the 3 free sides of my choice(white rice, avocado and plantains) runs about $ 11. The amount of beef was literally about 3 – 4 spoon full. My entire plate was filled with rice! The first time i ordered take out(via phone never physically been there), i ordered an oxtail lunch special. This was a regular size for about $ 9 and i had 3 oxtail bones and barely any gravy.(This led me to order a large the next time). All in all the food was flavorful, quick delivery, but not filling at all if your a foodie like me. I guess the next time i order i will walk in so i don’t get cheated out my meal.

I was a good customer with Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine. I received a call from Sophie’s after placing my order. The Manager Tattrica was so rude. I decided to cancel my order. I will never order from them again after the way I was treated. I hope Sophie reads this and can afford for her mangers to treat good customers in this manner. Extremely disappointed!

Really good spanish food! Pricey but good. Only thing that kinda bothers me is that the cuban sanwiches are premade and just pressed to warm when ordered. I like my sanwiches fresh. Even though it is fresh i like to see it come together if you know what i mean. I understand thier method for turnaround time and bc they’re so busy but i dont like it when they pull out an already made cuban sandwich from under the counter and press it in the grill. Otherwise the food really is good.

So surprised this place doesn’t get more stars! Fast and cheap and delicious. My coworkers and I come here often for lunch and there are many nights when I’ll grab a quick dinner. I usually get the baked chicken, which is moist and flavorful, with yellow rice, beans, and maduros. The green sauce is excellent so make sure you get that too. Can’t speak to their sandwiches, since I’m too in love with the baked chicken to switch up my order…

I order the pork chops with morro rice and garlic yuca. The chops are fried crispy and tasty. It really is a delicious meal!

Only positive things to say! I got a medium portion of the grilled chicken breast with white rice and beans and sweet plantains with green sauce on the side. Tasted just like dominican food and was exactly my style. Judging by past reviews skip the sandwhiches and go for their hot entrees. i would say my experience was probably better than most since i am of latin/caribbean descent and know all of the food options that they have. If you are skeptical on what to get, definitely order what i had. Wont be dissapointed!

Came here to pick up one of their Cuban sandwiches for lunch at work. This place was empty when I got here which surprised me since everyone says how it’s really crowded during the lunch rush. Décor is very spacious and clean and servers were all really nice. I got my sandwich in under 5 minutes! As for the taste of the sandwich itself, I thought it was alright. It has mayo, ham, cheese, and pickles(sour) in it so it kind of reminded me of a Reuben sandwich. It also has pork in it too but it didn’t really add any amazing flavors to the sandwich. Overall, I would say that the Cuban sandwich was alright. It wasn’t anything mind blowing but it wasn’t bad tasting either. It was a little pricy though(~$ 9). I heard the entrees are good though so I look forward to coming back here and giving those a try.

The taste of the food is amazing here but the situation when it gets packed is very confusing. I ordered pernil with a twist and ended up getting chicken cutlet with a twist which was someone elses order. It was still delicious so no complaints in that department. They need to brush up their service. People who ordered after me were getting their orders before me which is fine but it is also why my order was wrong. A little more organization will go a long way

This place has yummy home cooked meals but be forewarned it is expensive — on average $ 11 or so for a lunch. I am not sure why when it comes down to rice beans and a meat plate but I will commend them on the quality food. I got the Spicy chicken, which was solid. Don’t forget to add the green sauce! It is spicy!

Huge fan. I was really skeptical of this place because it looked a little too«fancy» for an authentic Cuban place, with its trendy tiles and rustic looking décor. When I walked in, there were three lines separated by the type of food one was looking for(ie sandwiches, entrees, etc.). Well done. I decided to get the entrée of the day, which was a choice of chicken or beef stew. I chose the beef stew(large). This cost me $ 11, and included 3 sides. They have a variety of great sides. I got the avocado bean salad, yellow rice for the stew, and fried sweet plantains. They really packed a large amount into the takeout tupperware. I was impressed. As for the beef stew, it was excellent. Large, tender blocks of beef with potatoes. Very hearty and delicious over the rice. The avocado salad was cold and delicious. The plantains were great too. This place is a great place to get delicious food that is fast and well-priced. You will not feel hungry if you order and entrée. Next time I will try a sandwich I think!

This place is a gem. This area of the Upper East Side doesn’t have the best selections out there. Sophie’s is a great solution when you’re tired of picking up food from farther north, or when you realize there’s no food in the fridge. Get the moro rice(moros y cristianos) the Cuban variation of the African diaspora’s rice and beans. Spicy chicken is solid. Don’t forget to add the green sauce! Takeout is solid. Invest in a large, it can serve about(1.5) two hungry adults(I always eat more than the girlfriend) and some left overs.

What I’ve tried: Cuban sandwich, chicken and beef empanadas, tres leches Tip: add the plantains and green sauce to the cuban sandwich! The plantains are sweet and the sauce is just a tad spicy. delicious. Story: Got takeout from here on the recommendation from a friend and keep coming back. The cuban isn’t exactly as good as the ones I’ve had in Miami, but the plantains and green sauce take it to another level. The empanadas are delicious and my friends and I went bonkers on the tres leches.

The first time I had Sophie’s, I was with a latin co-worker who wanted to take me to his favorite lunch spot. The food was amazing, and I’ve been eating at Sophie’s ever since. I usually get the Cuban Sandwich($ 9). The bread is warm is crispy, the ham is so juicy and flavorful, and the cheese is melted to perfection. My girlfriend likes to get the Pernil with a Twist($ 9). It’s essentially a cuban sandwich with pernil instead of ham and the twist is that they add plantains to your sandwich. The pernil and plantains is really delicious as well. You can actually make any sandwich«with a twist», for an extra $ 2. That green sauce though. Damn. They have this green sauce(chimichurri sauce?) and it is just the best thing ever. I’d recommend using a ton of it because it is just so damn good. I’d highly recommend going to Sophie’s. The cuban food is on point. It’s a rarity to see a cheap, delicious, and filling restaurant in NYC, but this is the place.

Order for delivery. The food came relatively fast which is a plus, Aside from the delivery guy bitching because it took me a while to get to him, it was Good lunch. The chicken perfectly cooked and the beets and chick peas were perfect combination. A good choice for hour lunch, no heavy feeling after. A little over price, but for the area u either go cheap/bad or pricey/good. I guess overall Is a decent spot… See you soon Sophie’s !!!

Food is good but the service not that great. The waitress was very inpatient and kept passing me as I asked about the food, she rushed me. As I looked at the food I did not like the food display, looked as though the food has been sitting out for hours, the saices looked dried on the top and the minute they dug in to serve it softened up with some hard edges(not something I fond appetizing).

«Cuban with a twist(sauce)» Sophie has a wide array of food items from sandwiches, which are their more popular items, to different entrees. Plus, they have different daily specials for each day of the week. I have only tried the pernil with a twist and salmon entrée. The pernil sandwich is just ok. Sometimes the pernil can be a little fatty and greasy. However, I tried the salmon and it was pretty gosh darn amazing. The meat was flakey, seasoned perfectly, and the sauce complimented the salmon beautifully. With the entrée you get a choice of THREE sides(beans and rice counts as two) and you actually get huge portions of the sides. I could not even finish all of my meal. I’m looking forward to trying their other entrees. The service ranges from just ok to good, depending on the cashier of the day but the sandwich guys are pretty funny and entertaining. The ordering setup during the lunch rush with the rope line and cashiers on both sides can be a little confusing for newbies. The restaurant is kind of small with about 8 tables, so try to come before or after the lunch rush if you want to dine in. Now, they just need to add mojitos to the menu and i will be a VERY happy camper.

I was so excited about this Cuban place opening right across the street from my work because I love Cuban food, especially plantains and Cubano sandwiches. I went here for lunch one day and waited in the most horrendously long line but figured it would be worth it. I ordered the Cubano sandwich which was the MOSTDISGUSTING sandwich I’ve ever had. It was basically a big piece of fatty meat nestled between two chewy pieces of bread. It was so gross, I had one bit and threw the entire thing away. Worst of all, the sandwich was approximately $ 10 and didn’t even include a side of plantains which I had to order separately for about $ 4. Speaking of the plaintains, they provide a pretty good portion(as they should for $ 4!) but they are complete drenched in oil. I was so disappointed by this place, I don’t even think I can give them a second chance. The only redeeming thing about this restaurant is the homemade lemonade which tasted very refreshing.

Zero stars. Besides fatty gross meat with the spinal cord chunk still in it that looked like it had been sitting there forever, ten servers all helping one person, and squinting at me as if I were speaking an obscure Martian dialect when I was saying things from their menu, my reward for enduring this was the worst food poisoning I have had in a LOOOONNNNG time. 100% sure it was from here and 100% sure I am NEVER going back. Update: lol to the«Health Dept. rep» who messaged me to report future food poisoning to 3−1−1−. The more you know, kids…
