What is wrong with this place? Its like everyones first day… every day. And as a bonus, they are rude.

Solidly made espresso drinks. In this part of west village, Prodigy serves the best coffee I’ve tried.

I stumbled on this shop while wandering around the village on an impromptu, self-guided tour motivated almost completely by my deep and unyielding love for Bob Dylan. I digress. There are half a dozen tables, a standing bar, and a wonderful coffee shop vibe. The street view allows for people watching, and the place, albeit small, isn’t so cramped that one can’t sit and and stay awhile. I ordered a cortado and it was perfect. The foam was creamy, the coffee superb. The barista was friendly enough, and service was quick. The only thing I noted was that while they use a similar payment setup akin to Square, I wasn’t able to leave a tip on my card, which I hate. I’ll be back though, and next time with cash.

Their macchiato changed my life. There’s no going back to other«macchiato’s» after that. You can literally taste the appreciation for detail in your drink… every note. A little far and a little pricey but well worth the trip!!!

White painted brick wall, gold chandeliers, bags of coffee beans hung on a rack… What’s there not to love… The counter girls attitude. After I put in our order, the girl asks me what size. I tell her we’re staying in and she just gives us a cup. I guess there’s only one size if dining in? After we get our coffees, we stand there waiting for our dessert. She replies«oh, did I forget your dessert?» Yes but you didn’t forget to charge us. I guess the piece was too big in her opinion because she decided to cut it in half. After my husband tries his Ethiopian pour over, he notices a citrus slightly sour taste. That’s not Ethiopian but Guatemalan. Ssssiisshhh. Not a great impression. At least my mocha was good.

It’s a small coffee shop and there is no wifi, but since I have a Karma it doesn’t bother me. The hot chocolate is tasty and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately they open the front door and leave it open an hour before it’s time to go, which is a little rude. I think I’ll try somewhere else before I come back here.

I keep thinking I’ve found the absolute best coffee, but no… this is where the quest ends! It’s so damn good in fact, that if all the tables are occupied, the coffee-quenched New Yorkers will invite you to pull up a chair and share their table space! I should know, it just happened to me! I don’t know how I survived before Prodigy. I hope they team up with the CUPS app so more people can know about their magnificence!

I come here everyday to get an iced latte, I love this place. A very good cup of coffee doesn’t need sugar

Convenient coffee place on Carmine, in the heart of Greenwich Village. Excellent coffee and great service. It has a modern, bohemian, artisan feel. Room for ~20 people max. This was my go-to coffee spot when I was staying with a friend that lived a few doors down from Prodigy. I would run down the stairs and pick up a cup of coffee from Prodigy to start my day. My default beverage was the house blend plus a shot of espresso. They never failed me. The two baristas were nice and pleasantly sarcastic, especially for 7am. The environment was conducive to have a conversation or work. I look forward to returning.

A no fills café I stumbled upon on a rainy day. The wifi was a great accompaniment to my camomile tea. Their tea selection was really good for anyone who is of the non-coffee preference range. When I rolled in the guy at the counter was patient with me since I had been running out of the rain to get in there and was a bit all over the place during the ordering process. He helped me pick a good tea from there selection which was useful. The white backdrop of the café is pretty good if you need to concentrate and there weren’t a lot of «talkers» in there making it hard to study. Most of the tables were filled up with single coffee drinkers so I had to annex a seat across from a Scandinavian girl who really enjoyed the coffee.

Prodigy Coffee NY Manhattan West Village 1:30pm Thursday 6th August 2015 Five Stars It’s a pretty quiet shop with four different people having setup shop here: laptops, plugins, bags, four cups of coffee. The music is barely audible. There are 6 two-tables and a little bench counter for two. The big front window, glass door, white brick walls and the two vintage chandeliers give place a lot of light. What caught my eye was their signature drink«Frost Bite» which their cold brew poured over Shaved Ice $ 6. I am not sure why someone would pay an extra $ 2 for shaved ice other than for its novelty but hey why not.(Update: it lasts forever) Coffee: Strong, Tangy, and Tannic Cold Brew Caffeine: Very High(update: I am super wired) Ice: Shaved Cup: Classic Clear Plastic They do sell branded mugs, Harney and Son Tea, a small selection of pastries and bread loaves which look pretty delicious. They have two other interesting drinks($ 4 Each) 1. Undertow: Shooter of simple syrup, cold milk, and espresso(available only in the store) 2. SnakeBite: melted dark chocolate with espresso shot.

I was so excited to try this place given the great reviews. It was a hot day when I went and I’m not a huge fan of coffee so I asked for iced hot chocolate — a super weird request but the worker took it in stride and served me up a delicious gourmet iced chocolate drink. What really hurt my review is that the marble bread that is raved about was dry, crumbly, and had an extremely unpleasant aftertaste. Not impressed with the baked goods. Bottom line: good for drinks, pass on the food

The coffee is pretty tasty, but the space itself is super unwelcoming. There’s no wi-fi and no bathroom, very much giving off a «get your drink and get out» kind of vibe. Not a good place to work.

Coffee and dessert taste good. I would have given 4 – 5 stars. The service was actually negative 3 stars. This is what happened. My friend order an iced coffee, my cappuccino, and a piece of dessert bread. Everything came out nicely. Then I sprinkle sugar on my cappuccino and at my first stir, I find a fine, shorter, blond-ish hair(I am asian, not my hair at all) being pulled out of my cappuccino. My friend brought it immediately to the counter. This Asian guy gave an attitude about it. No apology, but an attitude instead! His exact word was«I’ll make you another one» and he seemed annoyed. We wait. Instead of making my cappuccino so I can drink and eat with my friend together, they keep on making drinks for other customers. I finally got up and waited right at the coffee pick up area. The same asian guy asks after 3 minutes«can I help you?» I said«I’m just waiting for my cappuccino» he doesn’t say anything. And then starts making my drink. He took out the cup and saucer out of the dishwasher-looking thing. I didn’t think much of it. The. He hands me my cappuccino. I almost dropped it because the saucer was burning hot. I had to drop it on the counter, grab a piece of napkin and finally brought the cappuccino to my table. He saw all this happening. Didn’t say a word. A word of warning was supposed to be there, but there wasn’t. I wanted an apology, and a warning of burning hot cup & saucer, but in return all my friend and I received was the TUDES! Do NOT appreciate it at all.

Always serving up delicious coffee beverages by the coolest and hippest staff. Smiles abound here on weekends, maybe due to the coffee, but, maybe due to the staff! They actually serve coffee here at a perfect temperature, unlike most places that burn the coffee. I always enjoy coming here, as I have apparently joined the club of fans of Prodigy Coffee.

Decent coffee. Not the best I’ve had in New York, and not the worst. I heard the female barista wanting to ask me what kind of milk I wanted, and the male barista just told her to put whatever in it haha. Therefore, I’m either a) a really great hearer, b) they’re really unskilled whisperers, or c) I’m invisible!

Stopped in at Prodigy after an exceptionally terrible dining experience at Blossom down the street. A solid soy latte always improve my mood so I figured I would give it a shot. Ordered a soy cappuccino — thank goodness for Pacific barista soymilk. I have had more than one latte in the last few weeks where they use cheap soymilk and I end up with a gross, chunky latte. I was THRILLED with my cappuccino. SOGOOD! Extremely smooth, happy baristas and a very hipster environment(this is how a coffee shop should be!). Another place to add to my list of must-visits in NYC!

You get a strong blast of coffee right when you walk in the door. It’s a coffee purist kind of place, coffee drinks and just coffee drinks, no seasonings or anything. That’s fine, even good, but also good to know. A latte comes in a small cup, so it’s not milked down. The cortado came in the same sized cup, with half as much milk, which I suppose is very literally correct, but that seemed a bit too milky. It’s small, so not a sitting café, more a place to grab a coffee before or after brunch or wandering around the neighborhood.

The Quick: Really fantastic cappuccino, I would absolutely go back for more. The Details: I’m obsessed with the West Village so I’m always happy to explore new coffee spots in the area. My cappuccino was fantastic and my friends also enjoyed their caffeine fix of choice. I would absolutely return and try other options. The Damage: Average coffee prices. Nothing crazy.
