I’m literally heartbroken that this place is closed. It was my go-to place for an amazing coffee and Greek yogurt whenever I’m in town. Anybody know if they are opening somewhere else?

This place is tops! Small but it has it all. Cool seating, free wifi, amazing drinks and comfortable indoor temps. I’ll be back for sure.

The coffee at Maza was really interesting. Like always, I got an espresso and it was one of the darkest i’ve had, if i remember correctly. The aftertaste lingered for a little bit, but it was a pleasant taste that I wanted to have. My girlfriend had their special Freddo Iced latte capuchino? She thought the milk foam was ok, but she would have preferred to drink a latte. I thought the layout of the place was ridiculously awesome. The store had some copper designs, the tables were really small and cute, and the baristas were pretty awesome. Not a bad place to get a greek-style coffee.

Went to MAZA after a nice walk around the Village and stumbled upon this hip espresso bar. I really like the vibe and wished that my apartment looked this cool. I ordered the cold Freddo Cappuccino since it was such a warm day out. I enjoyed the drink and the rich milk foam but it was not as fragrant as I thought it should be. Either way, I’m a fan of the place!

Strolled into Maza with a friend yesterday. Ordered a shot of espresso and an affogato. Made it clear we were going to stay, converse, hang. Why am I being served espresso in a take away paper cup? Went back the following day, same. The space itself wants to be taken seriously but that’s completely off. I’ll head to another shop that will properly serve me a cup and saucer.

I was meeting with a friend at West 4, however since I arrived earlier than my friend, I decided to grab some coffee while waiting. I stumbled upon this small café since it was right next to what I was eating brunch. Before walking in, I checked Unilocal to see what was popular here. Turns out everyone was talking about how good the honey and cinnamon lattes. After I ordered my h&c latte, I went to go sit down by the window. They were so nice and served me a complementary cookie and water before my latte was ready. I like drinking my lattes without ruining the coffee art so basically drank all the cinnamon without really tasting much honey until I reached the bottom half of the latte. Maybe next time I’ll mix it for it to taste even better.

Disclaimer: I don’t frequent here; I do intend to come back and try their more interesting menu items, such as Hovoli served on a copper tray and other Greek coffee. Their pastries look amazing too. This review is more about the ambiance. Small but bright space, good for grabbing an inexpensive coffee drink and catch up with friends on a sunny afternoon. I didn’t think the coffee was amazing, but the décor is comforting and the noise level is generally low. Me and my two girlfriends were there for more than two hours and they were really good able not kicking us out despite being a pretty busy place. They even brought us their new caramel flavor popcorn to try! Good hospitality. Will return to explore more here.

There is a wealth of good coffee places within about 0.2 miles, but this one is worth trying. They only have one size of latte. I tried the honey cinnamon, because based on Unilocal it seemed to be their thing. The barista drizzled a pattern of honey on top, and explained that the honey is from Crete and the cinnamon is from Athens. It sort of feels like you walked into the apartment of some fun young people in Greece. There were four people behind the counter hanging out and enjoying their morning. It’s a milkier style of latte, so not super thick in a small cup like you’d get at intelligentsia, and the coffee flavor isn’t so strong. They ask what milk you want, which is nice, although anything other than whole might compromise the flavor. Honestly the yogurt selections looked more exciting than I thought the coffee was. I was waiting to head to brunch, so I couldn’t do yogurt, but that’s what I’d come back for. The seating is comfortable, but café like, not full seating. The seats are mostly little stools with little tables at almost the same height. There was someone sitting at a laptop, but it didn’t look at all comfortable as she hunched over to use it(the bench seats are a little higher than the table). The three stars is based on the coffee, which was nice and warming, but just not that strong or flavorful with the cinnamon(I’m comparing it to someplace like Ipsento, in Chicago, which does a cayenne and other spices latte that is fantastic), and I’ve had some really good coffee lately. the cost was at least a dollar more than I’m used to or felt like paying, $ 4.60 I think, and if in the area again I’d probably prefer to try another of the interesting coffee places, like prodigy right across the street.

Bravo Bravo Bravo! I’m excited about the new kid on the block. Very friendly service and accommodating. The owner(whom is Greek) is extremely sweet and knowledgeable about the Hovoli. The hovoli heats the coffee slowly so as not to burn it, keeping the flavor delicate! Also, I had their specialty: honey and cinnamon latte and the espresso was made perfectly! It was superb and worth the wait! They also have Greek mountain tea(as drinks and for sale) and I have yet to try their tea latte. The Greek mountain tea(sideritis) is found all over Crete(and other areas of GR and the islands) and is caffeine free and added to drinks, honey, you name it– we call it «health.» The owner also sent us away with little cinnamon and brown sugar cookies. I have yet to try the spinach or feta pie but I had the plain koulouri and it was delicious.

Hard to find Greek style coffee without going to a Greek Restaurant. Better yet, they make those coffee in Agra’s I had in GREECE — sort of like a frappé. They can limit the sugar if you want. Authentically made in front of you!

Venue: Beautiful modern space with seating. Bathroom has chalk for you to add to the doodles and writings. Service: Exceptionally friendly. If you get coffee to stay, they serve you with complimentary cookies. Drinks: This is a Greek coffee place that serves Greek pastries, yogurt, and other Mediterranean dishes. They have a pretty extensive list of drinks that includes their signature hovoli coffee and mountain chai. Cinnamon & Honey Latte — I enjoyed both the taste and the latte art on it Hovoli — It’s served in a pretty copper tray and espresso shot glass. The coffee is very strong, black, and apparently low in caffeine. Make sure to drink it before it hardens into a solid paste. I personally was not a fan of it since it’s really dark/black for my taste(I like mine with milk & sugar). + Free wifi + Laptops welcome + Accepts credit cards + Seating + Bathroom + Friendly service + Variety of drinks & food — No outlets — Tables are cute, but small and short/low

Super friendly trio of ladies greeted me when I entered on a weekday afternoon(their first day using LevelUp despite being on the app for some time). I was the only customer and the first to use LevelUp there, which was for their koulouri(their handwriting and my ignorance = mispronounced koulDori) — like a simit(they cited the difference as ‘sesame seeds’ but didn’t elaborate — Wiki says they’re basically the same item with different origins ). Didn’t look at the other doors, aside from the one I mistakenly tried to enter first, but maybe it was previously a shoe repair shop

This is my new favorite place in the West Village. It’s cozy, it has FANTASTIC Greek mountain tea(can’t find that anywhere!) and delicious Greek pastries. The baristas are super friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is laid back, warm, and friendly. The best part about this café? It’s an actual coffee/bakery shop, not a plug-in-your-laptop-and-work-as-you-slowly-sip-your-latte. For those of us looking for a place to catch up with our friends over coffee/tea and tasty pastries, THISISTHEPLACE!!!

My new favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood. Ever since I had my first Greek coffee in Greece, I’ve only been able to get it at Greek restaurants, until I found it here! And they make it fresh in this lovely, golden antique-like coffee maker and serve it in a similar golden coffee set. Taste? Delicious. Service? So, so, so warm and friendly. On my first trip, the two folks working here welcomed us, walked us through their menus and posed for a picture for me too. Their yogurts sound YUMMY and interesting(prosciutto and olive oil anyone?) so I will be back. They do frappes the way the Astoria cafes do it too — word! They even have bubble gum flavor(ok so it’s for kids…)

Maza is Greek for something and while I’m too lazy to Google it lets just say that Maza is great coffee. I love the interesting and cozy room made cozier and warmer on this rainy evening by the dynamic duo of baristas. I had the Greek/Turkish coffee and the GF had something else. We were both entranced by the deliciousness of our respective javas. But this isn’t a one trick pony, they have teas and plenty of other goodies from this Unilocaler’s motherland such as yogurt and traditional condiments. There’s also a nice variety of lite bites and pastries from – ready for this – Balthazar bakery. Yes, The Balthazar bakery as is vey f****n’ delish and fresh pastries from one of the first French artisanal bakeries in NYC. Did I mention I love this place? I can’t wait to return and try everything else that I didn’t try in my initial visit. Counting the minutes until my return.

The concept here is Greek style coffee, served on a platter, which I’ve yet to experience, but I’m hoping it’s like Turkish style, where the coffee is thick like motor oil and can patch cracks in asphalt. When I get some more time, I’ll try the house specialty. I dropped in on January 9th, their second day of business, on my way home from work. I ordered a double espresso and a chocolate croissant, the former being my standard order to get a baseline reading at a new shop, the latter a personal reward after arguing why my team and I shouldn’t be reassigned to a different department at the office job I work a few blocks away. The double espresso was merely of average quality, yet a wonderful thing. This means its at least better than other recent arrivals in this area, Gregorys(bitter and lifeless) and La Colombe(bitter and burned). The chocolate croissant I ordered was not bad, but unremarkable and small for the price. The shot and croissant was $ 7 all together. I ended up paying for this by card since they said they couldn’t break a twentyl. Aside from that little hangup, service was astounding. I got an introduction to the concept of the joint, lots of «yes, sir» and«of course, sir» and«here’s a chocolate mousse with olive oil and raspberries on the house to thank you for coming in today.» A $ 7 spend does not get me that service anywhere else. I appreciate the design of this place. There’s copper everywhere, including the benches in front of the shop. The shop owners either have a lot of faith in humanity or are totally naïve. Either way, I appreciate it. I like the benches because they something nice and shiny in a public space. Most places in New York are fortified against vandals, skaters and thieves. Inside, the lack of tables is a fortification against freelance campers. With no place to set up shop, they’re unlikely to swarm a joint like this with laptops. For seating there are a few stools and benches with pillows. For holding food and drink there are low rise tables. This is almost an anachronistic design for a modern coffee shop. It’s like they designed the place thinking people still go into coffee shops to sit and drink coffee and talk with other people.

The service was outstanding but I didn’t really go for the Greek coffee to the level but I had hoped. Just wasn’t strong enough for my tastes but the presentation was great. I think I will stick to stronger roasts but I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and the employees were super nice
