I am writing about the location in Brooklyn, which does not yet have a page of its own. The Brooklyn store is a hole in the wall, not conducive to sitting in and dining, but I show up close to closing time and it’s nice and quiet. I ordered on two separate occasions, the potato croquettes, mozzarella sticks, the Montanara pizza, and the Parmigiano pizza. The potato croquettes and mozzarella sticks were both fried to a great crisp, and were accompanied by a petite mesclun salad dressed in extra virgin olive oil. The portions could have been larger, but these dishes were delicious, and the accompanying sauce was very tasty. Both pizzas described are first fried and then baked, and the parmigiano has the addition of fried eggplant slices on top. The parmigiano pizza made for a very substantial dinner for one, and the pizza was absolutely sublime. Ask for some grated cheese to sprinkle on top with some garlic powder, herbs, and if you like it hot, some red pepper flakes. It was a knife and fork job at one point. A refreshing, crisp Pellegrino made a great accompaniment. This was just like being in Italy, only better. The Spanish guys working behind the counter are close enough to Italian, and you avoid the hundreds of dollars in airplane fare. Those who complain about not being able to buy slices don’t understand that this is real deal, brick oven pizza, not Famous Ray’s, or for the circumcised, not famous Amnon’s or Jerusalem Pizza. This is a far step from the ketchup and muenster cheese pizza sold in the Uncle Moishy Pizza Song video. This is legit, kiss your nonna, Neapolitan-style pizza. I’d say that this may even rival some of the non-kosher options, like Tottono or Grimaldi. This is delicious pizza, and I look forward to coming back and trying the other options, as well. They have a full array of Illy coffee drinks, as well. Frankly, I believe this is a case where dairy wins over meat; the burger store around the corner just doesn’t compare.

The best kosher pizza I’ve ever had I travel 21 blocks just to get pizza from there, don’t fall for the negative comments everyone there is cool, they’re just super busy at times and do there job well(distracting a busy man is like disturbing a lion while he eats)

What assholes. Tried to order the guy on the phone kept hanging up on me. Told me to go online. Went online and tried calling again. The guy cursed me out and said they were busy because they had more than enough business. This place is awful. I would rather eat 99 cent pizza than give them one stich of business. Apparently they don’t need it anyway.

Stopped in because we were in the area and it was convenient. Worst service I have ever received. Not one person working there said«hello» or «thank you» or even smiled. Terribly run business, would never go again.

Thin crust pizza at its finest. Personal favorites are the Quattro Formaggi, Cipolle, and Salad Pizza. The Funghi was good however not as good as the others. Purely for the pizzas, I would give Pizza Da Solo 5 stars as a great quick bite lunch place. If you are not into pizza, they do offer 2 paninis however on 2 occasions people I was with were told the wait would be 15 – 20 minutes. This is a kosher take out establishment so it is expensive and you end up paying slightly more($ 16-$ 19) per 9 – 10 inch pizza. The other drawback is the lack of seating i.e. the store has no seats. With that said, this place is located in the Sony Atrium so you may be able to find a seat(depends on the time) for 1 – 2 people however having a group sit together is much tougher. When factoring in the lack of seating and price, I am dropping the rating to 3 stars though it would be 4 stars if you are only looking at takeout.

Awful. Extremely overpriced, terrible pizza. Badly cooked, soggy bottom, and they put cubes of cheese on top and didn’t melt it. What?! Why would you do that to brie.

What a sad turn of events. For the last two months every pizza I have ordered at Pizza da Solo has come out with the cheese still half raw, uncooked. Either they have changed the way they make the cheese or some ingredient they use or there is something wrong with the oven. Either way, the pizza is coming out nasty. In addition, to make things worse, the dough is often wet and acidic, so they end up adding tons of flour. This obviously ruins the flavor of the pizza. This used to be the best kosher pizza in the US :(

The pizza here really is delicious. It’s expensive because it’s kosher, but worth it once in a while as a treat. It’s traditional Italian style, thin crust pizza. I like their margherita style with fresh mozzarella. Pizzas only come in one size, which is a perfect size for two people to share. The cheapest pizza is $ 14. The line can be very long at lunchtime. I recently ordered using their website, waiting the allotted time per the email I received and went to pick up my pizza. It seems they don’t check their online orders too frequently because my pizza hadn’t even started to be made when I got there. Fortunately there wasn’t a line that day and the pizzas cook very quickly because they use a hot, hot oven.

Terrible service! Hands down the worst service I have ever received. Stood there for 10 minutes while the cashier talked to his bank about his mortgage. Once my order was placed then had to deal with attitude from the kitchen staff. There are plenty of other pizza places to go to in midtown. Try those instead.

GREAT stuff. Their Al Salmon pizza may seriously be my favorite slice of all time. Almost feel unworthy eating it(yeah, it’s that damn good). Finally some more great kosher food by the upper east! Eat and enjoy

We were visiting NYC over the holidays, looking for a place to have a quick bite to eat – hopefully some New York pizza. I found this restaurant on Unilocal, located inside the Sony Atrium building. Pizza da Solo is very tiny; room for perhaps 5 – 6 people inside to wait in line. There is holy water just inside the restaurant, and the pizza is kosher. Being goy, I finally figured out why I couldn’t get pepperoni for my carnivore husband. We ordered 4 pizzas, paid in cash(the man who rang me up grunted when I handed him my credit card) and then we waited. And waited. And waited. For 30 minutes. The pizza was delicious, but VERY expensive, even for New York City.

On our first night in NYC we wanted to get some pizza and eventually found somewhere with inside seating, Pizza da Solo. The restaurant itself is a tiny space, with barely room for the oven, but it is inside the Sony Atrium at 550 Madison Ave., which has plenty of seating. Pizza da Solo features made in-house mozzarella and ricotta on top of 10-inch Neapolitan style pizzas that are baked to order. No meat toppings are available, though tuna and salmon can be found, and the pizzas are actually kosher. I knew right away that I wanted to try the Piccante pizza with ricotta and mozzarella, jalapeño, sautéed cherry tomatoes, basil, and garlic($ 18). The pizza took longer to build than it did to cook in the fiery oven, but overall the wait was very minimal. This pizza was expertly cooked and was delicious, though maybe a bit too spicy for the average customer. I loved it! We also ordered the Margherita with San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil, and Parmesan($ 13). We knew that our son would eat this classic pizza and that we would still have plenty left over to share between my wife and I. Again, it was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. I’m not sure if it is the kosher restrictions that drive up the price, or the location, but I found the pizza to be a tad expensive. With that said, it was of excellent quality and I wouldn’t hesitate to grab another pie in the future.

Food is great when you pick it up. Delivery is an absolute joke. Ordered 3 weeks ago — was billed and never made it to my door. Was told I’ll receive a credit — they don’t do refunds. Fine, whatever. Called this morning to get my free pie — its been over an hour and still no pizza. I think the delivery guys run off with the food.

I’m providing an update similar to Jonathan R. I’m completely put off w/the fact that they force you to buy a soda. I went to get my regular pizza(margherita) and the lady at the cashier said«It’s a lunch special, you can get a soda.» One would think — «oh nice! lunch special!» The lunch special meant they dramatically raised the prices and they’re making you buy a soda. Extremely annoying. I’m sorry, I’m not spending $ 14.15 on a teeny pizza and a soda that I do not want. I’ll use seamless and order pizza from somewhere else when I don’t feel like walking in the heat.

Holy. Crap. For days afterwards I kept saying to my husband«Do you remember that pizza?» It’s Kosher and delicious. The price point could be better but I imagine their rent is sky high. Truly the best Kosher pizza in NYC, maybe anywhere, including Italy. Highly. Highly. Highly. Recommend.
