This location is a world of a difference between the one in Gramercy. The inside is actually pretty nice, more of a starbucks feel. They have a wide range of flat bagels, the people behind making the bagels are nice and pretty fast. The bagels themselves are pretty good, top 10 that I’ve had in NY. They are a little pricey, for a flat bagel with cream cheese and a small coffee it was upwards of $ 8… When we came on a Friday morning it was pretty packed, but even with a line you don’t have to wait very long.

Not great in customer service, quality or speed. I’ve had much better bagels elsewhere. The herb cream cheese isn’t great and their everything bagel even less so. Their freshly pressed Orange juice tastes extra sugary too.

Horrible customer service and slow delivery. Bagels came very dry. When I called, the owner was nasty on the phone. Avoid this place.

Excellent service and veggie bagel was worth the 7 $! Bagels were huge and a lot of flavours to choose from.

My friend was visiting from Michigan for the weekend and we both absolutely love bagels. We had already gone to Bagelworks by my apartment and decided that we could take a walk up to Yorkville in search of more bagel goodness. Second Avenue on the UES is really a wonderful area to walk around on a lazy morning/afternoon. Pick-A-Bagel was easy to find and there was ample seating outside. The inside is pretty large with a few tables, but they were all taken. The counter is long with an assortment of cream cheese under the glass. This I find to be pretty standard in any good bagel spot, but something about this location didn’t seem super fresh. Maybe it was the décor, maybe it was the tons and tons of bagels and cream cheese piled up high, when it seemed that very few people were ordering for a good enough turnover. Anyways, I ordered my usual, poppyseed bagel and veggie cream cheese, toasted. My friend wanted an asiago cheese bagel, but alas, we were yet to find a bakery who had those besides Panera. She settled on a sesame bagel with regular cream cheese. The bagels weren’t bad, but they just weren’t the best. The texture was alright, but maybe it was that it tasted pretty bland. I could eat bagels any day, but if I really wanted the best best best bagels, I would probably not find them here.

Love this place. Great bagels, spreads, smoked fish, baked items, omelettes. Special community atmosphere. Great coffee. Sometimes lines are long, but service is excellent and line moves fast

Is it really that hard to a. Follow instructions and b. Not be an ass? This establishment rushes your order, doesn’t care for details and doesn’t appreciate your business. It’s not difficult to wait for me to order, rather than continuously interrupting and asking«What now? What now?» I’m done.

Had the egg and cheese sammy on the works bagel and surprisingly, not too flavorful. Also had a whole wheat bagel with low fat schmear. Again, pretty straightforward. I’d look forward to trying other bagel shops in the city.

I needed some protein and the turkey bagel was the perfect choice! I was supposed to eat only half, but couldn’t hold me to finish it all! Yummy and nice staff!

Didn’t realize how extensive the menu would be. It’s a really exciting place for sandwich and breakfast lovers. I had an everything bagel with vege cream cheese. It was loaded up spread in typical fashion and made for a long happy meal.

The hunt for best bagel continues and this place gets 2 stars for bagels but a 5 star for something else. more on that later. I lucked out — basket of bagels came out fresh, they were still warm, looked perfectly puffy and thick. The outside was perfectly crispy and inside chewy– so the texture was right on. but the flavor — there was none.zero. So 2 stars for this bagel. Priced too high at $ 1.25. This bagel needs lots of schmear to taste good. Now on to the winner… The black and white cookie. I never would have gotten one here if I had not read someone’s comment on a food article that they make the best. It actually looked pretty bad but tasted delicious — with the best chocolate icing I’ve found yet and the cookie part not too cake-like and dry like so many other places. Definitely returning for a b&w, not the bagels!

Love the everything bagels here, especially flat everything! They put so much everything on the everything it’s amazing and nowhere else compares. They also have the best tofu veggie cream cheese and the lox spread is also very good. Used to live close to this spot and now make special trips back to the ues to go to this place!

Get the egg salad sandwich and you will never go wrong wow. Hummas with pretzel too is yummy. Highly recommended for a light breakfast. The only bad thing about it is that people who take orders dont speak English properly, you might face a difficulty in placing an order.

They’ve got it all– and it tastes AMAZING. Hands down my favorite bagels in Manhattan. The line moves super quick and the bagels are always delicious and fresh each and every time. They have every sandwich, every topping, down to a PB&J. Service is excellent. I believe there is a $ 5 minimum on credit cards.

Great coffee, lines moves quickly the guys behind the counter are great. My personal faves toasted bialy, amaz i ng veggie tuna, and I am self admittedly a tuna snob. Freecup of coffee after every 7. They also do great yogurt and fresh fruit parfaits. My morning ritual. Not a great fan of their oatmeal. My only complaint, everything else has been thumbs up

I got: BLT with EGGWHITE on whole wheat bagel and latte Since I have gotten so many FOOD helps from Unilocal reviews for a long time, I decided to write my first one. I know cream cheese, lox etc seems like way to go here BUTBUT as basic as it sounds I am a sucker for good BLT& Egg n cheese. After miserable experiences at some local deli I wanted to give it shot at Pick a bagel. I was going to order BLT with normal eggs but as it was late afternoon on a Sunday, EGGS were off. Instead with staff’s suggestion I went with egg white salad. As I was ordering on the phone, my hubby was yelling at me «NOOOOOBLT with egg white sounds just wrong» Welp. I was also slightly suspicious but I went with sweet staff’s assurance«it’s good honey it’s good». Delivery was pretty fast regardless of being Sunday afternoon. Still little bit of worry for potential failing food decision, I had my first bite. Damn. It was actually really good. The bagel was super crunch & warm as I requested, bacon was perfectly crispy and egg white salad was seasoned just right and latte was delicious. I would def get this AGAIN.

I got an onion bagel with one egg and bacon. They charge full price even if one doesn’t want both of the standard two eggs in a sandwich, but I thought I might be uncomfortably full if I ate more so that was fine with me. Still an inexpensive, satisfying breakfast at $ 4-something. This Pick a Bagel is less crowded and hectic than the one on Lexington since it’s not right across the street from a subway station, and seems to have a bigger menu. It also has outdoor seating so go to this one for a relatively relaxing morning meal.

I’ve only been here once actually and although they definitely serve a classic NY bagel, it’s a far stretch from as good as it gets. I’m starting to think that truly the best bagels are only available in Brooklyn in those Jewish delis or bakeries that have been there forever. The ones here did have some of the fluffiness of an amazing NYC bagel and almost the right amount of chewiness, but it was probably a bit too dense for me. That said, I did have the egg/cheese/bacon sandwich here and it was fingerlicking good! Best egg/cheese/bacon bagel I’ve had in a looooong time. Seasoned awesomely, wonderfully toasted, creamy, and perfect for the trek into midtown at 10AM on a Saturday morning. When I got inside, there was a long line at the counter so I was a bit worried but amazingly I got out in under 5 minutes! They have a ton of staff behind the counter and definitely get you through quick which is super appreciated when you have a busy day ahead. All in all I would definitely go again. If you’re looking for the perfect NY bagel, you won’t find it here, but you’ll certainly find something darn close and delicious!
