Bagels & Co

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY FROM HERE. Honestly I can’t say I’ve ever been more frustrated placing a simple bagel order. FYI, I’m not usually one to write negative Unilocal reviews… Having worked in the food service industry the majority of my life I understand that restaurants can become hectic, stressful, and disorganized, especially during peak hours, and I try to be understanding of that. Along with that, I also understand proper customer service and how to correctly address any issues or mistakes. The customer service skills of the management at Bagel and Co are shameful and I will never be ordering from there again.
I placed a simple bagel order on seamless today and was willing to wait the estimated hour delivery time because I knew they were probably slammed, as it is a Sunday morning. The delivery boy didn’t get to the door until TWO hours later even though I had called twice to check where the order was. Instead of apologetically offering to comp the order, or give a discount, or a free coffee, or SOMETHING to make amends, the female manager just told me to send the order back and they’d take off the charge. So… Now I can pick between eating rock-​hard, cold bagels at full price, or having nothing to eat after two hours of waiting on my couch for the delivery guy. It may sound stupid but I was pretty darn frustrated and hungry. Then to top it off the male manager was rude and instead of even apologizing he just told me to call seamless to take care of the charge. Like screw you dude, I’m so hungry right now.
There are a million bagel stores in NYC and I will not be waiting two hours for mediocre bagels and horrible customer service again.

I’ve been back a few times since my last review and, under new ownership, what a positive difference:
— The service has been wonderful; friendly, quick and more organized. With more employees covering the counter or a new system, I’m not sure which, but I have not felt the chaos zoo — ish-​ness of previous times there.
— One barista went out of his way to accommodate my coffee rush when I needed to move my car ASAP
— Tidy, contemporary cool and fun green /​blue t-​shirts and hats on the employees look great and modernize the feel of the bagel shop
— The bagel with veggie cream cheese I had seemed fantastic, fresh, fluffy with a crispy toasted crust… Very good, while I was underwhelmed with bagels here previously
— The pastry selection is extensive and fresh
— Even have a pizza stand in front of a pizza stove, with several fresh pizzas I will definitely try
I think a couple of the above mentioned improvements I noted, like the pizza stand, were there all along (per an employee) but I hadn’t even noticed because of the aggravation being cut off by customers and the hectic feel or being there — I just wanted to get in and out ASAP: there’s a lot more order, smoothness and a better flow now .
The only negatives for me last several visits:
1/​only accept card payments for purchases $ 10 up — so I end up getting 2 lattes just so I don’t have to deal with going to an atm. (Their lattes are very good though so never to waste.)
2/​closed Saturday as its a Jewish bakery (but open Christmas so…)
Much improved under new ownership and highly recommend for lattes, bagels and many other fantastic, fresh looking pastries.

Bagel and Co is one of the best bagel shop I have went too so far it has great service great food great coffee I went there on things giving with my family and we had a great breakfast The service was amazing and the food was even greater

Amazing food and service! I dropped my credit card there and the manager went out of his way to find my phone number to return it to me. Also, the pizza is delicious! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Was looking for a Kosher place to eat in the area and stumbled upon this wonderful little gem. Great food, lots of variety, clean and cozy. Had pizza and salads and kids had falafel and fries. Amazing owners and pleasant overall experience.
