Solid sushi in UES with moderate price. Staffs are very friendly and dessert is great! Definitely a place I can see myself coming back to grab decent sushi.

Yucky, fishy, never again. We threw out half our order. Only the cooked«sushi» rolls were edible. We’ve ordered from there before, but had forgotten how bad it is. Please order only from real Japanese places to get raw fish that is safe to eat.

I’ve been coming here regularly for almost two years, and I love it. It’s a soothing environment with consistently fresh sushi. I get their sushi lunch special at least once a week. I have to also add that«restaurant pour» is not really a concept here(they regularly pour me a huge glass of wine). Thanks Ooki!

My husband and I decided to go for sushi, since we were in 86 street. We walked to the restaurant and a pleasant waitress came right away and sat us down. The food was veey good. I had spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura and spicy tuna roll naruto. Miso soup and sake. Everything was pretty cheap. I will return.

I love Ooki! This is my go to place to order in or to stop by to dine in on the UES. I work at an upscale Japanese restaurant downtown and all I want to eat is sushi, so on my nights off this is a great option :) The service is great and it’s a chill atmosphere. Shout out to Eric! Thank you for a great experience every time!

Ooki is me and my bf ‘s sushi spot! The prices in the upper east side can be crazy, but ooki has large portions and the food is delicious. I actually love the chicken teryaki here, it’s really good. Pork gyoza is always an appetizer I order. Yummy, and great value!

We’ve got a sushi set for 2 and a free cheesecake for our first checkin. The set was not that big, but quite delicious. I enjoyed the way the food is presented.

Fantastic sushi place on UES. Great quality sushi, and the staff is wonderful. The owner is a great guy and the waiters are always accommodating. Ambiance is cool and modern. Dimly lit, but not too dark. I am very picky when it comes to sushi, and the fish is always fresh. Great sashimi, and I highly recommend the Omakase. As for price, it’s a total bargain for the quality of service and freshness of the food.

Of the three sushi places I have tried in this neighborhood in the last month, Ooki is the best. I ordered a cocktail which they made quite nicely(and strongly — a good kind of strong). I ordered a philadelphia roll and sweet potato tempura roll. Both rolls came very quickly and were extremely fresh! The taste was perfect. I really appreciate when the tempura is crispy and not soggy, and the sweet potato was a good balance of crunchy and cooked. I feel like I can taste when the tempura batter oil is old and this was definitely some clean oil they’re frying in — yay Service was prompt and attentive but not overbearing. I finished my food quickly and lingered over my drink for another twenty minutes or so with no pressure to clear the table(granted it was not super crowded being a Thursday around 6). Overall a great experience. I will be back.

Definitely my favorite sushi spot in UES! Really fresh fish and such friendly service! I’ve shopped around in the area but Ooki is the best. And I always recommend to anyone looking for a nice dinner in the area

Friendly staff, great sushi. A friend and I popped in here after visiting the Cooper Hewitt museum. The staff was attentive, without being overbearing, and the sushi was fresh and delicious. We ordered the Tom Yum soup to start and it warmed us up right away. We then followed up with three sushi rolls, one being the Big Daddy roll which was crunchy and spicy. I recommend that. Eric, the manager is eager to please and very kind to his customers. Definitely recommend this place for anyone on the UES looking for sushi

I have been coming here for years, and several reasons I keep coming again and again. I’m not a sucker for any sushi either I am picky and particular as I consider myself a sushi connoisseur. This is clearly not one of those 200 $ a plate sushi experiences but you get a real Bang for your buck. Located in upper east side this quiet tucked away spot is a gem. Perfect after work or before shopping at whole foods. Smh, I feel like a tour guide writing this lol. Highlight *sushi is ALWAYS fresh. I’m talking raw fish, I’m pregnant and still eat their spicy tuna on the regular * they have selection of wine it’s not generic house crap. *price is amazing, so decent especially for upper east side nice clean place * the service is so fast, you never have to wait long for ur giant order to come out *they never cheap out, the sushi it’s always big. *staff is always always so nice !!! Cons– Honestly as picky as I am I have NONE! I always find something to bitch about and this place I leave satisfied every time! ENJOY.

A solid option north of 86th street. I live nearby and have been here twice for dinner. My girlfriend and I have been impressed both times! The restaurant itself is well maintained, and the casual setting is welcoming. Our experiences with their staff have also been pleasant. Our most recent visit was this past Friday. We started with the pork gyoza, which was very good. Our entrees consisted of a myriad of sushi, including the California, Alaska, «Sweetheart,» and spicy tuna rolls. The sushi tasted fresh, and the portion sizes made for a filling meal. The price per roll was on par with other places I’ve been to in the area. I recommend coming here if you’re looking for a casual lunch or dinner consisting of tasty sushi. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Best sushi on the Ues. Love the specialty rolls as well as the lunch specials as they offer their delicious rolls at a reasonable price(under $ 9 for two rolls, soup and salad/or under $ 12 for 3 rolls, soup and salad). The décor is comfortable and chic and it’s a great spot to meet friends for lunch or dinner or just to pop in alone if the craving strikes. Quick service as well.

A little far up in the Upper East Side, but other than local watering holes, I could not find another eating option in a 5 – 7 block radius from where I parked so we opted for Ooki Sushi. The restaurant is run by Cantonese people, so I was wary about how authentic the sushi rolls and entrees would be, but I was decently surprised. The décor is reminiscent of the late 1990’s when Asian and Asian Fusion restaurants started gaining more traction, and you can tell that the owner did not do much to update the restaurant space. There’s a relatively bigger restaurant with plenty of tables, a sushi bar, and bar. We ordered a few sushi rolls, salmon teriyaki, and ice cream tempura. One thing to note is that the kitchen pays attention to food presentation, which is always a plus. Even though, the presentation cannot compare to that of Massimo Bottura’s but at least they give it a shot. The salmon teriyaki was a huge portion of salmon steak– very much appreciated. The ice cream tempura was too doughy and flakey.
