I take my previous review back. I went in there with a friend recently. This place is not good any more, unfortunately I was not feeling well afterwards. I will not go there again.

I realize that I am probably the most impatient person on the planet; I absolutely hate waiting for my food, which is the only reason I gave them three stars. Their sushi is outstanding, always ridiculously fresh and delicious. Having one sushi chef at six pm is just silly to me, other than that I would say this is one of the better sushi spots in the neighborhood.

Food was decent, fairly priced for lunch special. Servers were attentive, friendly, accommodating and patient. The deco was relaxing.

I’ve ordered from Guzan about a dozen times in the last three weeks. Delivery is fast. Spicy mayo has the right balance of creaminess and spicy flavor. I recommend the veggie sushi. I don’t eat raw fish and it can be tough to find good veggie sushi with a variety of rolls. The avocado peanut roll comes with a pineapple sauce I don’t love so I just asked to have it without the sauce

We very much enjoyed our sushi experience at Guzan on Saturday evening. We ordered the tempura vegetables as an appetizer which were perfectly crispy and served with a delicious. Prior to our main meal, we also ordered a cosmopolitan which was again, well executed and cheap for the price of $ 10. For an entrée, we ordered the Sushi & Sashimi for 2 which amounted to a total of $ 56.60. We also ordered an additional spider roll with our share-platter. Whilst we enjoyed the platter and thought very highly of the quality of the food, we would have liked to have seen a more even balance of sashimi to sushi as we were mistakenly under the impression we would end up with a 50⁄50 combination of the two. Instead we were perhaps overloaded with sashimi that we had to end up taking home with us! We were dining a little after peak hour on Saturday evening so the place wasn’t particularly full although we could imagine that the ambiance would be affected if it were packed with the tables being so closely positioned together. There are large TV screens placed behind the bar which would make it an ideal place for a solo sushi date but potentially less romantic /intimate if you’re out on a date with your significant other. Compliments also to our servers who were very friendly and efficient. We will definitely come back to dine at Guzan and would recommend it to others!

The rolls are tasty and the price is reasonable. The shrimp roll was delicious, the shrimps seemed to be marinated in a ginger and sweet sauce. I really like to go there for lunch to treat myself. It is one of the best sushi place in UES.

Ordered takeout from here twice and overall the food was pretty good. The side of the Hibachi noodles(we got vegetable) for $ 4 is enough for a small meal and they are amazing! Really flavorful even though the vegetable ones were pretty simple(just had some carrots and onions thrown in). Got one order the first time and liked them so much that we got two the second time! The tofu teriyaki was NOT good. The tofu was bland, as was the teriyaki sauce. It tasted like very very very watered down teriyaki sauce which was unfortunate. Tried adding soy sauce but that didn’t really help at all. Even the consistency was watery as opposed to typical teriyaki sauce which tends to be thicker. One of the two times we ordered was for lunch so we got the chicken and veggie tempura lunch special which was pretty cheap but maybe I should have considered spending $ 2 more and getting the one that comes with Shumai, California roll, etc etc. Not sure if the portion size is then smaller since it comes with all that other stuff! The chicken was good though. Nice and crispy! The tuna tartare was a good portion size but I was deeply perplexed by what appeared to be 100% authentic Pringles that came with it. Yes, Pringles. I cannot understand the reasoning behind this pairing nor why there were only 4 included as it did not yield enough to spread the tartare on.

Had an amazing evening. I was doing some holiday shopping in the area and decided to have dinner here. Had the maki B and my fiancé the crunchy maki. Generous portions and excellent service. The miso is usually more broth than anything, but this place added plenty of tofu and seaweed which was wonderful. Im coming back to try more of there entrees, definitely be back.(the waiter brought us the wrong bill at the end & I unfortunately was sitting under a air vent. Freezing the whole time but those were my only complaints).

I had a terrible experience here. My friend and I order appetizers and we specifically said no onions because my friend is extremely allergic. They bring out our miso soup and first thing we see is onions. It took forever to get the waiters attention and he finally brought a miso soup with no onions, and of course he had an attitude. Our dinner took like 30 minutes to come and the place was not even packed. When the dinner came, the rice had onions!!! I finally got the waiters attention and was like«I keep stressing no onions and everything your bringing is with onions!» He didn’t even apologize and was like I’ll bring you another one, that took forever to come out! The waiter never checked on us, we kept having to look for him the food we couldn’t enjoy cause it was consistently wrong and this whole place was just awful !!! And the restrooms were disgusting!

This is by far the best sushi location in all of NYC! Great service, excellent prices, and most importantly AMAZING sushi! Love their crunchy spicy trio maki rolls! Lunch specials make it irresistible when at work!

Tri-color sushi platter was nice and fresh. Gyozas are so-so. Service could have been better — forgot one of our drinks and didn’t seem very interested in us, but that could be because they were busy. I’d order from here again, but maybe try delivery next time.

The service was great. But the food was horrible– I have Japanese food all the time in NYC and I’ve never not been able to eat the food. I returned one appetizer for another and I couldn’t eat that either. Even the Dragon roll was bad. I’ve been to Japan and I know Japanese food. This place misses big time.

Went here for some sushi, seeing as how we were all craving it, but the sushi was terrible. I got the Lobster Tempura Roll which has all the things I love. The appetizers we got were good and so was the soup. The sushi taste like it was from a box and was refried. Not coming back for its not worthy expenses.

Best sushi I’ve eaten in NYC! I have Celiacs(aka I can’t have gluten) and they were very accommodating. They had gluten free soy sauce and immediately listed some GF recommendations. Sidebar: a lot of sushi joints don’t have GF soy sauce, so it’s awesome this place does. Amazing rolls, sooo fresh. 5 stars!!!

I met some friends here for lunch and really enjoyed the place. I go to an almost embarrassing number of Japanese places, so I don’t usually expect to be surprised by the standard vegetarian rolls or vegetable tempura, but this place surprised me. Definitely worth a visit! We shared the vegetable tempura appetizer. Everything was the usual very-good quality that I expect/hope for in Manhattan Japanese places. And then I bit into the chunk of something-I-didn’t-recognize. It was enoki mushroom tempura. Genius. Maybe that’s not as uncommon as I thought, but I’d never had it before. I love enoki mushrooms, but I’ve never had them in tempura. That alone will get me back on the crosstown bus for another visit. For my main I had peanut&avocado rolls, always a favorite, and tempura sweet potato rolls, which i hadn’t every had and really enjoyed. But I was secretly still thinking about the enoki tempura appetizer. The staff are perfectly friendly and professional, the atmosphere is lovely, and it’s all around quite a nice place. Now I can’t stop thinking about the enoki tempura.

It’s still my favorite Japanese restaurant in the Yorkville neighborhood. I have been here more than 5 times, not counting delivery, every time, every dish, I am very satisfied, or even surprised. I usually order their special rolls for dinner, all of them are good, either dragon roll, spider roll, snowing roll, well done. Their lunch special is good deal too, try the lunch box, you will be surprised how delicate they prepare and display the food, the portion is very reasonable. Appetizers, hmm, really really good, I started tying different appetizers and felt that I should try all of them some day rather than just age tofu. Today I tried the seafood pocket and yellowtail collar, I love them. I tried chicken skwer before, very tender and tasty too. Let’s hang out next time you visit my neighborhood@@. I will definitely come back again, for the reasonable price and relaxing dinning environment!

Came here as a 3rd resort, when two other restaurants we initially wanted to eat at had waits that were too long. Always wanted to eat here actually since I walk by it a lot and it looks chic on the outside. My friend wanted to sit at the bar even though there were empty tables avail, so so be it. I had a hard time deciding what to order off their menu(app? entrée? sushi?) but she was gung-ho about getting a nabeyaki udon, so I decided to go with that too. For $ 13.50, you get a salad and a big bowl of udon w/chicken, two shrimp tempuras, some scallops, veggies(broccoli, squash – which I thought was weird), enoki mushroom, poached egg. The broth was a-okay…def not as hearty and authentic as I’ve had in the past. But there was a good amount of food for the price. The service sucked. Like majorly. Took ages for them to come by to get our order, even with multiple gesturing on our end. And I had to ask 2 times for them to bring me red pepper flakes. like, cmon, seriously man? You guys weren’t even that busy.

I ordered here via delivery. The delivery was pretty quick, and it was pretty cheap overall. I ordered the Chicken negimaki lunch special. It came with a good miso soup, but nothing overwhelming. A pretty standard soup, lots of seaweed and tofu which was nice. The chicken negimaki itself was just okay. The chicken was tender, but underseasoned. The vegetables were good, but few. Overall a decent place.
