Amazing gnocchi and lobster ravioli – service was subpar, but the food makes up for it.

went in for lunch with a friend and ordered a gluten free pizza. It took a while since it had to be mad fresh. also order the calamari. Gluten Free pizza was one of the best i’ve had. Calamari was very fresh. price is a bit pricey for a small pie but i guess you can’t complaint.

Awesome, brick oven pizza. Felt like the freshness just oozed out of everything from the dough to the veggies to the meats. Numero 28 on the Specials was my favorite. They only accept cash, which is a bummer.

I am 100% italian from Roma and when I have to eat the real Roman great unique amazing pizza I go there. Not only because you can taste a pizza that is equal or in some cases better that the one I normally eat in Rome, but also because you feel at home… in Italy. The owner, she is an amazing person like all the people who work there. Pizza al metro… with 3 different type of pizza… my love. Go there… and you are not going toeat pizza anywhere else.

We had the Number 28 Pizza and it was awesome! I really like thin pizzas. Also, the pesto fettuccine was heaven, very herb-y taste. I like the ambiance too. Staff are ok.

Probably top 3 pizza in the WORLD. We go out of our way when in NYC. Brick oven, perfect. So good.

Definitely my favourite ‘zaaa in NY(although the style is wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, not your standard NY dollar street slice). This place is cozy and perfect for sharing. Their larger styles come as a rectangle and their cheese on the margarita is fresh and delicious. Only con is their wine list which is kind of lacking… they used to have a BYO option but this has since been discontinued. Also there’s hardly ever a wait! Quite different from John’s just down the street. If you’re craving a thicker crust — this is the place to go!

One of the top five pizza places I’ve ever been to HANDSDOWN. The pizza is cooked perfectly & the toppings are all great. The speck + truffle cream pizza will blow your mind.

Easily one of the better pizza crusts you will find anywhere, perfectly crisped in an obviously superior wood-fired oven. The quality of the ingredients were the icing on the cake, or in this case, the toppings on the pie. Will be a drop-in staple when in the neighborhood, to be sure.

When I crave pizza, this is where I go in NYC. And I’m lucky enough to be in their delivery zone, too! Numero 28 is excellent even for Italian standards. I lived in Rome for five years, and this pizza reminds me of that you would eat at Baffetto or La Montecarlo(both famous pizzerias in the center of Rome). My husband and I always order a medium pizza, and it’s enough for both of us. We typically order a pie that is half potato and porcini(Nonna Eugenia) and half artichoke and prosciutto(it think it is called Romeo). If you prefer pizza with red sauce, go with their pizza with buffalo mozzarella, instead of regular mozzarella. The décor is that of a typical Italian pizzeria and it makes me feel at home. Most of the waiters speak Italian, too. The owner is very kids friendly. She treats us like royalty when we go with our daughter. What else can I say? Numero 28 on Carmine St. rocks!

Walked in after we had a slice of pie as an appetizer from Joe’s and that triggered an authentic Italian food craving. No bells and whistle setting was a good sign for me. Son had the 14″ diavola pizza, it was awesome! One of the better pizzas ever. The wife had the lobster ravioli and it was very good as well. I had the Rigatoni Alla Nonna Eugenia. The small meatballs were dryish(probably due to their tiny size), but the perfectly cooked al dente pasta and tomato sauce made up for it! We also had a bottle of sicilian shiraz that was very good for 30 $. All in all a great experience and recommended!

Best pizza in the city. I think people forget about it because it’s been here a long time. This is their original location and it really feels like you are in Italy’s little neighborhood restaurant. They also make great salads, pasta etc… Great price too! Friendly staff! They also serve beer! So far, the only pizza that’s made oblong rather than round. Easier to cut into squares to share. I love the truffles and mushroom pizza and their arugula with prosciutto has a lot of arugula and prosciutto on it. Their seafood pasta is excellent and so is their lasagna. It is near the corner of Bleeker and 6th Avenue across from the church. Cash only. New lunch deal on weekdays.

Hands down the best pizza in NYC. This is the closest you are getting to authentic Italian pizza in America. All the staff is Italian and they have wood burning oven that cooks the crust perfectly. Definitely worth checking out.

Within a block of my boyfriends house, Numero 28 has become a favorite. I’ve been here a couple of times now, but the first was for my birthday in September with a party of 14. We made a reservation in advance, but called to double check and it had been misplaced. There was no issue at all and they were very gracious and waived our caking fee.(Side note: you can also bring your own wine for a corking fee of 6 dollars). Upon arrival all of the staff was very friendly and we had a large table on the lower part inside of the restaurant. There is a nice outdoor seating area, but we were more than content inside of the low-lit and beautiful little interior. If you have a larger party, you can pay per head and receive a salad per 4 people, as well as a large pizza. And when I say large, I mean table long. The spinaci salad with ricotta and balsamic drizzle was especially good, and I have ordered this since. The wait staff is very attentive, and the wine was always plentiful. The pizza itself is delicious, although pricey, and I enjoyed the white pizza with sausage and ricotta the most. I guess I have a thing for ricotta, though! From start to finish every time I have gone to numero 28 the food has been top notch(an Italian member from our family praised the pizza himself) and comes highly recommended.

The Quick: It is the most expensive pizza you’ll probably ever eat, especially since the spot is cash only, but I absolutely crave the Numero 28 pie. The Details: Outdoor seating, West Village, pizza… What is there not to love? The brick oven pizza is truly a masterpiece, although the appetizers refused to be out shadowed — the fried calamari might’ve been the best I’ve ever had. Lightly fried and crispy. The namesake pie(Numero 28) has truffle, a white sauce and prosciutto; my personal recommendation. Three of us split the largest size and the calamari and had a few peices left over. This proved to be a delicious breakfast, as the truffle flavor was even more distinguished. The Damage: Calamari + the largest pie for three people came to $ 68 total with tip. Almost $ 70 on pizza when Joe’s(my 5 star choice) is literally across the street for $ 3. Although it’s hard to justify monetarily, sometimes you just have to go with your heart and splurge.
