I had pasta which was OK, very basic and something I could easily make at home. But for 8 – 9 dollars I’m not complaining. The tacos were not the best, but acceptable, not enough sour cream. The menu is huge and I suspect they would need to take short cuts to be able to make all those dishes. It’s a decent enough option if you happen to live on the island I suppose.

Now called Piccolo Trattoria… they changed the name, but the food is worse that ever. Just don’t do it… go to Duane Reade and get a frozen pizza… it will be better than anything you can get there.

The place is clean but the food quality was horrible. We felt sick immediately after we ate their pizza slice(no meat) and spinach roll. I think it wasn’t properly cooked or something was wrong with the cheese they used. In total we ordered 4 items and we ended up trashing all of them.

Food is mediocre, if you live on the island then you don’t have many choices for something quick and semi-cheap. The customer service is terrible, ordered a pepperoni and received a cheese pie. Called to let them know and they said the pepperoni would be here in 5 minutes. 30 minutes later I called and they said they delivered it to the wrong address. They verified my address but the worst part is the girl calling me back to say that I didn’t say pepperoni when I placed the order, which I did. So either she was just very dumb and not good at her job or she was bold face lying to justify her mistake to her boss.

Order from here pretty regularly. Reasonable prices, good quality and fast delivery. Good go to for pizza on the island

FORGETTHISPLACE! Just go somewhere else. Your hard-earned money shouldn’t go to here. We ordered via grubhub their calamari, mozzarella sticks, garlic knots and spicy hotdog roll. Calamari — most disgusting one I’ve ever had. The coating looked like it was supposed to be crunchy but it was soggy and it tasted like they weren’t done cooking it yet! Mozzarella sticks, garlic knots — pretty much the only ones i can eat out of this order. Nothing great about these too. You are better off getting a box of frozen mozzarella sticks from duane read and making your own garlic bread. Spicy hotdog roll — well we never received this one and they deceitfully replaced with what looked like dollar cheese slice pizza! They said they called us about the item not being available but we never received a call. Somehow they thought this meant that they can just decide for us and replace it with the cheapest two slices of cheese pizza they have. We called them after we received the food and they told us they would call us back to rectify the oversight. Well what a bunch of liars! They never called us back and needless to say we are never ordering there again

Been there two times, the first I try the burrito and it was pretty bad. The second I had two slices of pizza and it was a bit better. I guess if you are super hungry need something quick and are on a budget this place could make sense

We ordered one slice of white and one slice of white with ricotta with broccoli. After the additions of their topping the pizza was hot, fresh, and satisfying! We also ordered the Cesear Salad, I would not consider it worth $ 7, the only reason for lacking 1 star. I HIGHLY recommend the Coconut Chocolate Gelato for dessert! It’s the owner’s recommendation and it was sweet, icy, and little chunks of chocolate flecking the coconut ice! Perfect for summer! I will definitely be back next time we are on the Island!

There is no reason food should take so long to prepare, especially when you are the only one in the joint. This place is constantly a ghost town, and it’s no wonder when they take 30 mins to give you an order of lackluster fries. Tip: Stop hiring preteen counter help, and try staffing better cooks!

Do not order online. I ordered at 9:20 on a Thursday, get a confirmation email from . Food never arrives. I call around 10:20, the guy who answers says to call back the following day to get a refund. Go to Fuji East for takeout, for the love of God.

I ordered their 3 Taco lunch and waited 15 minutes for my food, which is FAR longer than I expected. This was at 3:00 in the afternoon! I saw other customers after me being served, so I asked if anyone was actually working on my order. As for the food, I ordered(1) beef,(1) chicken and(1) vegetable soft tacos. The beef was nicely seasoned and flavorful. The veggies were crisp, as I desired. The chicken was a bit dry, but that’s forgivable as pretty typical. All in all, if the staff had kept me informed as to how long it was going to take to prepare my order, I would have given a higher rating. The food was certainly acceptable.

Whoever states that nonnos pizza is great has never had a decent slice in their lives. This restaurant is confused at what kind of establishment they are. They have a Spanish section that is borderline mediocre. Don’t get the shrimp taco! The(frozen) shrimp served goes directly to the taco from the bag to WITHOUTANY seasoning. Their pasta dishes are bland. I’ve had better Frozen packaged microwaveable pasta. Also if you ever order a burger, make sure you tell them how you want it cooked. They seem to cook the burger medium rare if you do not specify. Gross. This place needs an intervention.

If you’re considering eating on Roosevelt Island, you pretty much have three choices — Riverwalk Bar & Grill, Fuji East, and Nonno’s «Focacceria»(read: pizzeria). For a cheap/casual/quick bite, Nonno’s is your best bet. We stopped in for a snack after visiting the very nice Four Freedoms Park( )…Nonno’s reminds me of off-campus college food. It screams pizzeria from the outside, but they have gyros, sandwiches, burgers, and a whole bunch of other random stuff on their menu too. We stuck to some white slices, and were pleased with the colossal slices we got for $ 2.50 apiece. The pizza was OK — nothing stellar, but definitely a generous portion size for the price. Service was friendly, and they brought our food over to our table when it was done… nice touch. Would I return to Roosevelt Island… ever? Probably not. Hmmmm, not sure where I was going with that…

The service here is great, everyone is always going out of there way to make sure you get exactly what you want. They handle special requests(garlic knots with pepperoni and cheese, an old Astoria favorite of mine) very well and the food is always hot, hugely portioned and does the job. I will admit, I’m always seasoning most of my food, but I’m ok with that, the seasonings are always readily available on the table. I’m not trying to give them an angle but I will say, Roosevelt Island is historically known to have a HUGE senior citizen population and many of them have severe dietary restrictions. This makes it so everyone can eat! They don’t slack like many people say because they’re on an island and residents have no choice; I think the choices are many. Burgers, sandwhiches, salads, pastas, pizzas, kid stuff, gelators, beer, wine, italian sodas, flan, rainbow cookies, even little corner store candy options. The white pizza is delicious, the paninis are great, I give 3 stars because they’ve recently tried re-marketing their«spanish» food menu, except it’s not very good and all over the place. They seem to pull from a variety of latin/spanish cuisines and nothings done really well. The only things are the tacos which are made with really fresh ingredients.

Cheap, bland food. Although the portion sizes are huge, they are not tasty at all. I tried the cheese pizza and the eggplant Parmesan sandwich. Both were completely unsatisfying. Although, there is outdoor seating and this is a great place to eat with kids — after eating the kids can run around on the grassy area next to the restaurant.
