Ya, so it’s out of business evidently, but it was a decent place. By no means the best in the city as far as milkshakes go, but it was good. The potions were enormous, and they were not shy about mix-ins. My girlfriend and I got a peanut butter and a mint chocolate chip. They were good, but they mix-in chunks were so large, you couldn’t suck them up through a straw. We had to drink the liquid, then attack them with a spoon. Not a bad place, and a great idea. I guess the diplos didn’t like it in the end.

You can never make a bad milkshake. So that automatically gives this place 3 stars. That being said, unless you work at the UN, the location’s kind of a bitch. And the one day I try this place out it’s raining. And windy. And cold. And there were no customers around. I felt like I was having milkshakes in Hell. Which is, by the way, better than Hell without dessert.

grab a spot in the glass gazebo or outside by the grill, and listen to the occasionally live music blaring from the overhead speakers while you suck down one of the stand’s tasty shakes or egg creams.

What a FIND! I learned about NYMC on a weekly Unilocal and i only wish i had found it(a) earlier in the summer and(b) more than 2 days before i started a diet. Perfect Grilled Cheeses, really good shakes(for the first time in ages, i prefer the vanilla to the black and white), burgers grilled outdoors that taste like you just stepped out of a swimming pool, and best of all, uncrowded outdoor seating where you can smoke(yes even cigars) at your table. I cant remember the last time I saw an ash tray in a restaurant. Right across from the UN, nestled next to a nice busy plaza, this place even stays open late and serves alcohol. Room for improvement? I couldnt figure out why our milkshakes still hadnt come 10 minutes after our food had arrived, and that was disappointing, but otherwise, comfort food heaven.

Fantastic! Went here on a lazy Saturday and enjoyed a delicious burger, cooked straight off the grill out back, and an amazing chocolate milkshake(made with chocolate ice cream — not that vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup junk). The entire staff was very kind and courteous — a rarity these days. The cheeseburger I ordered was cooked perfectly, well portioned and dressed simply with lettuce and tomato and served with a bag of tasty potato chips. Be sure to visit this gem as soon as you get a chance — especially while the weather is nice.

I was torn between 3 and 4 on this one. Knew it was there, had heard it was a good lunch spot, but had no idea it becomes something else after dark. Had a first date last week… she lives nearby and wanted something where we could sit outside. My only requirement was that the place serve alcoholic beverages(liquid courage). Very nice café-ish vibe, decent drinks and good prices(it was a cheap date). There were a few families there with kids running around, so the conversation had to remain PG(although she did make a few PG-13 comments, despite telling me to watch MY language), and last call is around 11(they actually started«collecting» the chairs around 10:30). Not really sure if I want to see her again, but if not, I wouldn’t mind having another ragingly unsuccessful first date at this place, so she gets a couple extra points for cluing me in on its existence.

It’s a pity you haven’t been here, because you probably haven’t. I dubbed it Midtown’s Luna Park, sans the jackasses and doortitude– The plaza adjacent to the U.N. contains a surprisingly wide, tree-lined promenade, at the base of which are benches, and a sparse collection of leashed Labradors watching kids on wheelies and passerbys. The splendor of the atmosphere culminates in two glass gazebos. The one facing north blends flavored cream and milk into frosty treats; the south-facing side blends flavored liquors and juice into summery cocktails. Enjoy in combination or as separate entities on aforementioned benches, or gated outdoor seating. Sear sugar high with huge and hugely satisfying grilled cheese sammaches, hot dogs and burgers. Bacon optional(but optimal). Return; bring friends. They’ll think you’re unanimously awesome.

I lunched here today with my office hubby and boyfriend and two other lovely ladies. It was such a beautiful day, I suggested that we go out to the Milkshake Company and enjoy. The setting is really pretty, especially on Wednesdays, when the Greenmarket is on. There are a bunch of seats outside, and it doesn’t get too crowded. You can watch the guys making burgers on the grills. And there is a bar. Liquid lunch, anyone??? After-work whatnot??? I had a grilled Swiss with tomatoes on white, because they didn’t have any other types of bread. It was quite tasty, if a little bland. Everyone decided that the food is good, but nothing to write home about. The milkshakes are great, but again, unremarkable. It’s really the setting that makes this place. I’ll definitely come here again, either alone or with my clan. It’s like Shake Shack, unpretentious and without the line! An east midtown oasis! 3.5 stars.

Quality Grilled Cheese Sandwiches and Milkshakes in a Shake Shack-Like Setting. New York needs more of these shacks within parks. Milkshake Company(in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza Park) and Shake Shack(in Madison Square Park) are great places to relax and enjoy a bite. Milkshake Company has extended summer hours.

Because Parks Department Special Events Coordinator was late, I had the opportunity to eat here! I ate the homemade fudge and it was damn good. It was brown, appetizing, wonderfully delectable, and somewhat divine. Besides it was warm!

A petite, glass-enclosed structure along the south side of 47th St(close to 1st Ave and the United Nations building), this is the perfect place for the lonely luncheoner(which is more oftentimes the case with me) on a warm, sunny day. There is no seating inside, but plenty of tables and chairs directly behind it, in addition to a plethra of benches that line the sidewalk along Katherine Hepburn Gardens, which features a pretty fountain. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with provolone, and it was quite delicious. You can get a grilled cheese with a number of different cheeses. They also have cold sandwiches and panini wraps, milk shakes and ice cream, baked goods like muffins and donuts, and an assortment of hot and cold beverages, like mochachino and smoothies. And they have a soda fountain that includes vanilla, cherry cola, and interestingly, blue raspberry. I opted to try the vanilla, and enjoyed every slurp. And, my oh my, I indulged in a hot waffle ice cream sandwich afterwards and it was painstakingly yummy(since it really filled me up afterwards). This was a nice find as I strolled lonesomely around during my lunch break looking for some place relatively quiet and peaceful to eat at(which is hard to come by in midtown east Manhattan. Oh, what will I do when the weather gets frightful?

I discovered this place last spring. It is located in the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza Park just across from the United Nations building. The place has outdoor seating or you can choose to sit on benches throughout the park. The New York Milkshake Company services a variety of foods and beverages. Obviously milkshakes. But they also have various juices, teas, coffees, and alcoholic beverages. You can also get both grilled cheese and cold sandwiches. They have various desserts to choose from as well, including a Hot Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich. I have been here on several occasions. Normally I will sit outside in the seating area as it is quiet and peaceful. Having always had the milkshakes I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. In fact I believe these to be the best milkshakes in the city. I once had the black/white milkshake(ordered it out of respect for the black/white cookie). The first time I had the black & white it was the single greatest milkshake I have ever had. I have had it since that first time and in all honesty it hasn’t lived up to that first time, but it is still good. I tend to get the grilled cheese sandwich often and again very good. Although I have never been at night or during the late afternoon, from what I have heard they have a nice set up for alcoholic beverages(beer and I believe wine) in the evening. I am unsure if this place is seasonal. I remember it being closed all last winter, but even if one has to wait until spring I would strongly recommend checking out the New York Milkshake Company in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza Park.

Another chain of the NY Milkshake company. This one serves very yummy grilled cheese sandwiches(many different choices of cheese) for reasonable prices. And if you want to save calories, ask for skim milk in your shake(not like it makes a big difference when there’s already like 4 scoops of ice cream, but it makes me feel slightly better). My milkshakes are always a tad bit too sweet but that could be due to personal preference.
