Good place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch if you are in the park or visiting the Cloisters! We had Eggs Benedict, bagel, lox and cream cheese, and two lunch items that I don’t remember… all were good, along with the mimosas :)

Went a few weeks ago for weekday afternoon lunch. The risotto was meh. The peas in it were undercooked. I got the runs about a hour after eating. Not sure if it was the risotto or something else. I’ll try the summer brunch becasue the views in the park must be nice but I’ll be holding my breath on the quality of the food. I heard this place is under new management, maybe that’s why the reviews aren’t as great as when I read them 2 years ago.

Wanting to explore a bit, we visited the Cloisters and had brunch at New Leaf. Beautiful location and building, but honestly, we were disappointed with the service and food. We waited quite a while to be seated, and our server was not very attentive once we were seated. He forgot to take our order, brought coffee with grounds in it, and was generally unhelpful when we tried to get his attention. The food was bland and lacked personality. I had the burger, which seemed pretty popular, and my girlfriend had the huevous rancheros. The huevous rancheros were better, but both dished lacked any real flavor and should be considered bottom-tier bar food. Hopefully they can improve the service and food because this is a really unique place.

It’s a solid place for brunch. I took my mom here on a Sunday right when it opened. I would suggest making a reservation to guarantee seating because the space is limited. They have classic indoor seating with a rustic vibe as well as an «outdoor» area even in the winter that is enclosed. It’s a very nice place to get brunch. First of all, the coffee was good and free flowing. I must have ended up drinking 6 cups by accident. 1. Market omelette: Portions were large and came with a side salad. Tasty and fresh. 2. Crab cake sandwich: I loved this! I’m usually not a huge fan of seafood for brunch, but this looked unique so I wanted to try it. I’m glad I did. They didn’t skimp on the crab.

I just moved to Inwood from Harlem and went here for brunch on one of our first Saturdays in upper Manhattan. Have lived in Manhattan for 7 years. New Leaf is great. Sure, we ended up having to grab a waiter because it seemed they forgot about us, but we didn’t even mind because they were very apologetic about it, we were listening to live piano and enjoying good conversation, so it wasn’t a big deal. The piano playing created a wonderful ambiance! A beautiful space, great views and you can take a lovely walk in the park before or after brunch. The food was GREAT — I mean really great — we each ordered something different(Dagwood Sandwich, Eggs Benedict, and Chilaquiles) and each item was delicious, especially the chilaquiles. A solid restaurant that we’ll come back to. A friend went for dinner on a weeknight and she said it was pretty empty and the food was good but nothing to write home about. It seems as though they just need to up their game a little for dinner and maybe hire more servers and then there might only be 4 – 5 star reviews. In the meantime, we’ll keep going.

It is set inside the Fort Tryon Park by Cloister Museum. It has been called as a neighborhood gem, and I must agree. They just re-opened in April 2015 under the new management, so it has different menu from before. Menu is rather small, and food is ok, depends on what you order… Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.
