I’ve never eaten in the restaurant, but the takeout sushi is decent. Best value are the rolls. I would steer clear of the tempura. Staff is always sweet and friendly and the restaurant looks spotless.

We had a pleasant experience here. It was freezing out and we popped in to warm up and snack on some dumplings and a few rolls. Sushi is average, service is above average. The environment was almost all beige and wood. The space is a tiny hole in the wall, but I kind of liked how intimate it was. We saw a ton of delivery orders go in and out. I wouldn’t rush to this place, but it certainly did the trick and filled our bellies.

My boyfriend ordered through Seamless, so they called him to pick it up and then he called me to go get the food from the doorman. I was a few minutes late and the delivery guy was very angry and wouldn’t let go of the food, at first saying we didn’t pay yet and then saying he wasn’t tipped enough. He then told me to go back to my apartment and get him more tips. Sushi was just okay, the poor delivery experience ruined everything.

Great, great place. Extremely friendly staff and amazing value for money, especially for lunch during week days. Service is also very fast, so I usually go there when I want to have a nice lunch and get going quickly. The place is unpretentious and a bit small, but the experience is worth it.

Someone call the cops because I just got robbed. Seriously the worst 3 rolls I’ve ever had in my life. I am not trying to overdo it, or be mean because I had a bad experience. Everyone there was very nice actually, the food was just truly bad. I got the Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon and Sesame Tuna rolls. I was STARVING and could only choke down two pieces of each. I’m not even joking when I say all three rolls literally tasted like«bland» incarnate. I have no idea what they put in there but it is certainly not quality fish. I was looking forward to sushi all day. Unbelievably disappointing. Those three rolls and a Coke: $ 30 before tip. Very friendly staff, acceptable ambiance. I am honestly still upset about it.

Down to Earth Japanese convenient to Grand Central, with Brooklyn(not Manhattan) prices. Best part is the bar by the chefs, where you can watch and eat even if you’re not getting a fancy meal. Prices are quite good. I got the lunch special, yasai soba, for $ 10 with tax and tip. It was good, idk, pretty normal Japanese food. Service is super nice for Manhattan. They greet you with«irrashai mase,» as they do at any reputable Japanese restaurant. They were attentive at taking my order and refilling my water. They were properly staffed(rare in the borough!) Wait for food was short. They’re a small, possibly family-owned institution so please support! Rent ain’t cheap.

My nickname for this place is «The Last Supper.» After spying my suspicious looking sushi that was dull and felt too close to room temperature … after the strong fishy smell hit me upon entering the establishment … after spotting the«B» health department rating posted at the door … I wondered if this would be my last supper. I had the salmon avocado(less suspect) and the spicy tuna(more suspect), which was supposed to be spicy crunchy tuna, but anyway. I didn’t die. Yet. So I’m feelin’ pretty good about that.

The B sanitary rating immediately put up a red flag for me, as it usually does whenever I encounter one, but I was on a lunch with colleagues so I didn’t have much of a choice. It’s pretty nice inside, clean but a little small. I ordered a simple California roll and Eel & Cucumber roll. Both were pretty good, but the rolls were a little too warm for my taste. The eel was also a little chewy. Nevertheless, it’s pretty good sushi for the prices, which are quite good($ 9 lunch special– two rolls, salad, and miso soup) but it wasn’t exceptional. But that’s ok, because I wasn’t expecting such.

I would never eat at New Hane Sushi ever again. The fish was warm and didn’t taste fresh. The specialty rolls were also not tasty — I left half a specialty roll uneaten. Although this place is fairly cheap for sushi, I rather pay more for food and get better quality fish.

Best sushi prices in Murray Hill. Not much of a bar area to sit at, but thats fine as we usually get take out from here. Recommended for a cheaper night out.

Very generous but also good fish. Considering the good prices it is absolutely a four.

Stopped by for dinner with friends on a Saturday late afternoon. The place was completely empty. First bad sign. I ordered the chirashi, mainly because the special rolls were SO absurdly expensive, especially for a simple venue like this. Ordering Chirashi was the worst mistake. The fish was nowhere near fresh and there was very little variety — just salmon, tuna, shrimp, and yellowtail. Nothing else I can recall. The rice was not sticky enough and fell apart. It felt like a recipe for food poisoning. Friends ordered a selection of special rolls — including rainbow roll, dragon roll, etc — these were pretty good, but mostly because everything was slathered in mayo-based sauces which masked the flavor of the fish(which wasn’t good anyway). All very Americanized. Overall horrible experience. I would never go back.

It was raining and I didn’t feel like going outside to grab lunch. Ordered around 2pm on a weekday on Seamless. The food tracker didn’t work. I called to make sure they got my order — at that point the deliveryman was already out the door. I got the sashimi lunch(big portion, not the best quality of fish which is to be expected, and some pieces were cut way too thick and veiny) and the mango prawn salad(this was great). I think each came with a miso soup and one came with a small container of greens(which is hard to eat since they really packed it in). The ginger salad dressing was great with the mango salad. Would I order again? Yes Would I go out of my way to eat/order from here? No Is it good ‘cheap’ sushi? Yes, everything was $ 25, delivered.

We had a cooked teriaki salmon entrée and some sushi rolls. We found the sushi rolls to be good. The cooked teriaki salmon(about 15.00) wasn’t very large but it was tasty. It came with a small miso soup. We will try again just for sushi rolls and see how that goes. The atmosphere is ok but it’s not a large place or a fancy one. It’s typical murray hill low-key atmosphere. This is not a fancy place for a dressy date but it’s good for a meal out. The prices seemed reasonable. The service wasn’t reallly great but it was OK. Could be friendlier.

Friendly service, authentic ambiance, delicious food — much better than any other sushi i found in Murray Hill while living here for eight months.

I got the lunch special today– it was solid. 2 rolls(I got eel-avocado and salmon-avocado), a miso soup, and a small salad for $ 9.25(including tax). They were super-fast with the preparation(I got take-out), and everything was packed beautifully. The soup was good– plenty of tofu and seaweed. The rolls were on the large side– they were generous with the fish and the avocado. And salad was okay… the dressing was too salty, but the mixed greens were fresh. I’ll be back!

Thanks for your recommendations, fellow Unilocalers. The Miso Black Cod was beyond amazing! Served over steamed brocolli(Yeah i dont know why either) the flavor tingles your taste buds and the texture melts in your mouth. Comes with miso soup and rice. Paired that with a glass of semi dry sake. Now that’s a perfect meal!

Wait until we get Hane on you! This unsuspecting, quaint corner sushi place totally had a LOT of kick, and when I mean kick, I mean in my mouth! The hand rolls were not only delightful to watch being made, but also absolutely tasty high-quality fish! I was full on two hand rolls, Unagi avocado and Boston, and the Butterfly roll! Lovely presentation, and sitting at the bar is the only way to go. I had no problems eating here by myself and neither should you! Friendly staff is more than willing to chat it up a bit with you while you wait, and with an A rating, you can be rest assured that good sushi is on its way to your stomach! I’m coming back VERY soon!

Currently drooling thinking about this place. I’ve been here a few times and each time the food and service has been excellent. It’s not exactly cheap but if you order from the lunch or dinner menu it is decent priced for all the food that you get. It’s a small place and can fill up pretty quickly so I recommend getting there before the dinner rush or after. The tables are close to each other which is a bit annoying because everyone can here your conversation and vice-versa. The dinner menu is really great. For $ 24.95 you can order an 2 appetizers and an dish entrée or a special roll from the sushi bar. I recommend the Chilean sea bass egg rolls(delicious), avocado salad and the hot Japanese eggplant sushi roll-nashu sigi for the first appetizer. My friend originally ordered the seaweed salad which she said tasted old and they had no problem exchanging it for an avocado salad. For the second appetizer I really enjoyed my tuna tartar which was huge!!! Other greats were the lobster tartar and the sashimi. For the entrees any of the special rolls are really great and will keep you stuffed. I like the Chilean sea bass which comes with spinach noodles. Most of the other dishes come with rice. I’ve also had the tempura rock shrimp which is crispy and delicious. Next time I will order the yuzu miso cod. Try it and you will not be disappointed!
