I was hoping for authentic Japanese food since they carry natto, but… definitely not authentic. Again, calling this place good Japanese would be like saying Taco Bell is good Mexican.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. While the food decent, the fact that you can’t take home what’s left over and they are going to throw it all away? Possibly give it to deliveries? Won’t be back to this place

Cons: I order at 12:06 for lunch for pickup and food takes 30 min to be prepped– on the lengthier side of things. I ordered two spicy salmon rolls in the lunch special which comes with a miso soup and small salad for $ 10.85 after tax. Sauces cost extra(like everywhere else) which is nonsensical but I will not attribute that towards the one star rating. I get back to my work and open up my sushi and they had given regular salmon, not spicy salmon. I try a piece and sure enough it was regular salmon with scallions. Scallions? That’s not even indicated in any other salmon roll. Do they think scallions make this a spicy salmon roll instead of the spicy sauce? I called the lady who remembered me waiting for a half an hour and she assured me that I was given spicy salmon and that is just how they make it there. I have had A LOT of spicy salmons in my lifetime and this was regular salmon, not even a question. Too bad they didn’t just give me the darn spicy sauce for free. Cherry on top– no utensils were given so I couldn’t even eat my soup or salad. Maybe I’d give them more stars if they recognized their mistakes. I will speak to manager and re evaluate the situation. Pros: tasty and fresh salmon if you like plain salmon rolls.

This place is a great hidden gem, literally. It’s tucked in 39th between 2nd and 3rd and with all the traffic passing through it’s unnoticeable. The sushi is always very fresh and you can’t beat the lunch special($ 9.50 for two rolls, 12.50 for three). When I order pickup it’s always ready within 15 minutes of placing my order.

The«new» Aki sushi, formerly another sushi spot, impressed my friends and I upon a recent dinner visit. This spot is BYOB for wine only, so long as you spend $ 15pp on food. Totally reasonable and they bring you wine glasses and ice buckets. The salad and appetizers were tasty, though salad is hard to mess up. The sushi tasted fresh and the rolls were interesting. I was skeeved by scales left on my salmon, but my friend didn’t care and she ate it. Food was definitely OK, not mind blowing not terrible. This spot earns a glowing 4 star endorsement based on the cleanliness and speed of service. Sushi places and all restaurants should be clean. They don’t deserve accolades for what they’re supposed to do anyway. But! I appreciate it nonetheless. Also, the service was warm and fast. I’ll definitely be back.
