Positive. The wings are better than average. Negative. I’ve eaten a few things here. They all suck. I’ve been with 2 large groups and tried lots of items. They all suck except the wings are b+ They stuff you with an automatic tip, even if you’re with a party of 4. That seems pretty sketchy to me. The service stunk. I waited 4 hours to be asked what i wanted to drink like 5x. I expect to be asked for a drink no less than 2x/hour. The fact that the beer and drink list stunk made it worse. I also have a sneaking suspicion that they stuck me with the automatic 20pct tip because they hoped I would tip them more if I didnt see the sneaky automatic tip. Thankfully I caught them. But they deserved no tip. I let a sleeping dog lie and let them steal their 20pct. I will never go back and be robbed by those guys again. Bunch of effing thieves with a terrible beer list.

Came in for drinks and appetizers with two others. The atmosphere was nice. The bar area was crowded so we got a table in the back. There is surprisingly a lot of room back there. I was disappointed in their beer selection. There were all the usual domestic brews but not too much else to offer. I settled for a blue moon and they were out. The food is pretty good. We ordered the calamari, the Cajun shrimp and nachos. The shrimp are huge and have a great flavor to them. The calamari was nicely breaded and had a good sauce drizzled on it. I’m not sure what it was but it was citrusy. The nachos were alright all the toppings were on top and stuck in the cheese so after you got through the top layer it was just chips. I would come here again for a quick beer. It is not a very memorable experience but it has pretty good food, friendly staff and is not very expensive.

Waiting for daughter to deliver and dropped in for late night snack/dinner. Best corned beef and cabbage ever for me and wife polished off an original Shepards pie. Great random choice

Ok. Review update time! Despite my first bad experience I gave Murphy’s another chance. Have been coming here regularly for the last 6 months to play darts, finish up the night, and bullshit with the bartender… who turned out to be a pretty cool dude. Its a low key place and the people I have met here are preeeeetty interesting(organic chemist??? yahhhh!) And the pretzels sticks are bomb.

Food is subpar. They have beer and a good atmosphere though.

Pretty much the worst service I have ever received. I came with 6 people we ordered wings burgers and a bucket of beers. Keep in mind the place was not crowded. The food took 50 minutes. We all got our food at different times. The wings were cold. My food came out after the other 5 people were almost done eating. There was one waiter working and he spent most of the time in the back playing on his phone. He never checked up on us for refills. We went to split the check and the server gave us a hard time. Just an all round very poor experience.

The shrimp and crab is great and the calamari is great as an appetizer and they have a great draft beer selection

I love this place, the bartenders are amazing and make an effort to know the locals by their names. I have eaten dinner here twice and I’m always pleased with what I order. The prices here are also reasonable which is always a plus. If you are looking for a nice place to have a good meal, a drink, and watch a game with out breaking your bank this is the place for you.

Stumbled across Murphy’s Law on the hunt for a refreshing, Irish beer and good bar food on a Sunday afternoon. The bar itself was pretty empty for lunch, but the bartender and server were very attentive to us and very friendly! I tried the french onion soup which ended up being barely warm and the cheese was barely melted on top. It reminded me of a cold kraft single thrown on top of the crockpot. We ordered 20 buffalo wings and a side of sweet potato fries. The wings were hot and crispy and the sweet potato fries come in a big basket for $ 4.50. Overall, the food was what you would expect from an old Irish pub or dive bar. Don’t know if I’ll be back in the future too soon but if I’m ever craving a good Irish beer on draft I’ll keep Murphy’s Law in mind!

«Standard Lunch Spot» Typically, the people that frequent this place are employees of the hospital, patients/visitors and construction workers. Murphy’s Law is has decent bar food with quick and reliable service. Also, the restaurant has a midrange beer list to take the edge off of whatever may ill you. I would recommend the chicken salad wrap, the burgers(the fries are pretty good) and the french onion soup. However, the Murphy’s has different daily entrée and soup specials, so you can think outside of the box for your culinary delights. Personally, I like the crab-meat stuffed tilapia. I think that it is frozen seafood but I do not come here for amazing seafood, so it all good for me. The food is not the greatest in the UES but it gets the job done. Plus, you can just have 4 – 8 beers or cocktails to make feel better if the food is not up to your standards.

Cute place! Service was good and the staff was very friendly. I had the Virginia Ham monte cristo. Ham and turkey were very lean which was great. It was served on toast so not a traditional monte cristo but tasty just the same! My mom had the Reuben, which she enjoyed. The corned beef was also very lean with no fat. The hand cut fries were delicious!

This is just your hole in the wall Irish bar. The food was blah. I was there on a Sunday night. The bartender was very friendly and poured a perfect pint of Guinness so I’d go back for that. Good job on the beers guys maybe just improve the quality of the food.

This is a solid choice if you’re in the neighborhood. I got the rueben and was really happy with it. It seemed like a pretty legit NYC deli sandwich. My doctor and his office staff raved about the burgers and the margaritas. Seems like they’ve got a good happy hour deal, too. It gets super packed and loud on game nights.

Was here in a Tuesday at about 1pm. Waitress was great. Very attentive, happy. Never left me hanging. Had the Reuben with onion rings and slaw. The corned beef in the Reuben was old and tough. No other way to put it. Had 4 bites. Onion rings had zero flavor except for a distinct fish flavor. Slaw was passable. I feel bad giving 2 stars because the waitress was very good. But the food just wasn’t ok. Maybe I should have had 4 – 5 beers first.

I wasn’t terribly impressed by this place. We were there at like 9 on a Friday and the place was almost empty. The drinks are expensive and they only have a B rating. I probably wouldn’t have even stayed if I wasn’t with friends who wanted to stay there and I almost definitely won’t be back. They do have a decent beer selection though.

My group was looking for a place with a good burger near the hospital and Unilocal led us towards Murphy’s Law. We ordered a round of burgers for the table. I went with a burger cooked medium with blue cheese. There were two other hamburgers and a veggie burger ordered. As others had mentioned, the burger was pretty solid. Instead of fries, I ordered mashed potatoes which were pretty cold when they came out. Otherwise everything was enjoyable. The service was fine. There was nothing outstanding or awful about our server. The quarters were a little cramped. We were seated near a long table with a group of about 10. A group of 2 came in recently after us and were seated at table practically on top of ours. The restaurant wasn’t packed so I was hoping they could stagger the seating a bit. It wasn’t the best burger I’ve ever eaten but it certainly did the trick for everyone in my group.

3.5 Stars. Murphy’s is great for after-work happy hours, and the management is incredibly hospitable with planning for larger parties. The beer menu has a variety of Irish offerings(and served by legitimate Irish staff). The food is typical pub-fare if you need a snack to go along with your drinks — typically, the appetizer combo platter is the way to go for a party of 3 – 4 people. Would be a great place to watch a soccer game or golf… other sports, not as much. Due to its prime location next to the hospital, Murphy’s offers a 10% discount for NYP employees, which is always enticing.

Fairly spacious and excellent happy hour prices. A group of 30 or so of us came here put on by our organization and we had the back room to ourselves. The service was excellent. They kept re-filling the appetizers and were coming around to clear out plates and asking us for our drink orders. My personal favorites from this place is their Guinness and Sam Adams. They give quite a bit :) Tried a variety of their appetizers and I really liked the wings & drumsticks and their cheesesticks. The sticks were not overly fried and were consistent. Had just enough salt. I would say it’s better than O’Flanagan’s. They also had half potatos with cheese and bacon. It was good, but it was not consistently cooked. Some came out burnt, some were spot on. Celery and carrots were crunchy, fresh, not stringy or dried out. I think the décor in the front of the bar could be better, that’s just my opinion. I’d definitely come back here again and would recommend this place to others. Great place to hang out after work for a few hours and just chill.
