Great beer selection, coast to coast. Great music selection. Great atmosphere. Will be back.

Definitely among the better places in UES. Good specials and lots of kinds of beer. The music is crap sometimes though.

A neighborhood gem. 30 beers on tap, most of them craft beers, incl one cask, &10% off for Unilocal check-ins. That right there is nuff said. I get a better vibe from David Cooperfield’s than from Pony Bar, which is a similar format. Pony Bar may be cheaper, but I get a MUCH frattier feel from Pony Bar than from David Copperfield’s. A standout for me? The chicken quesadilla. I know that sounds stupid but that thing was delicious.

It’s been quite a while since I had visited David Copperfield’s to partake in some tasty brews. When our friend Melissa F asked us to meet there for some suds and a bite to eat during happy hour we happily obliged. This is a terrific craft beer bar. They have around 20 – 30 types of craft beers on tap including some ciders. Always something new and different as they rotate the beers to showcase some new tastes. The bartenders are super easy in letting you sample some before deciding on the pint you want. Seems most are in the $ 7 range for a pint. They also have a large amount of bottled beers from all over — domestic and imported. Decent little happy hour Mon — Fri 4−7pm with $ 3.50 on select draft beers. There are also daily specials each night of the week on food and drink. Also, many times throughout the year that have different breweries come in for tasting nights with free giveaways, and even some fun food festivals as it was their 10th annual oyster festival when we were there. I have to say that as far as pub food goes this place does it well. They offer the usual pub food fare, and some cool swings on others. Vegetarian nachos were surprisingly good, as are their burgers. Service here is super friendly and attentive. Plus, this bar and dining area is clean. Lots of tables and booths to sit at. I’ve been here a few times before and it can get quite crowded and loud at night. If you’re not into that kind of scene I suggest going for happy hour 4−7pm, or a weekend afternoon before it fills up. Can be a bit of the frat boy scene at nights too. If looking to relax and try a few beers, have some lunch, or meet up with friends to catch up, this is a good spot to hit up on a Sat or Sunday afternoon. I guess it’s kind of family friendly too as I saw of few of those in here. Sorry, but I still don’t think it’s cool to bring kids in a bar, baby carriages and all. There are enough diners in the area they can go to. The worst was watching the lady sitting across from me whip it out and start breast feeding her kid. WTF? Really not something I wanna see when I’m hanging out drinking beers in a bar.

This is my new go-to spot in the neighborhood when I’m jonesin’ for a good beer in a laid back, relatively quiet environment. Whether you’re looking for a place to unwind with a book, or a place to hang out with friends, David Copperfield’s fits the bill. I’ve recently taken a liking to craft beer, and this place is a SOLID with about 20 taps of various craft brews, as well as an extensive selection of bottles. Bartenders are super nice, and are happy to let you taste some samples before deciding on something. They also offer a decent happy hour Monday thru Friday, offering a few select draft beers for about $ 3 or $ 4, and some rotating nightly specials as well. In terms of food, you’ll find a great selection of the usual bar food suspects, and the waitstaff is incredibly friendly and attentive. While I love the nearby Pony Bar(another craft beer heaven), I often find it to be way too loud, crowded, and hot – definitely a place I have to be in the mood to endure. That said, David Copperfield’s is an absolutely awesome spot to hit anytime.

I was here yesterday after my doctor’s appointment. At 1:30 Pm it was relatively empty. They have a wide selection of beer on tap and in bottles or cans. I decided to a bottle of the Augustiner Maximator which is from Germany. It is a lager but smeed kind of dark and very strong. After I drank that one I decided to try a different one. It was a Polish beer, EB, in a can. It was also a lager. They had opened a tab for me but they needed a credit card AND a photo ID to do that. When I wanted to settle the bill I let the bartender, Nicola, I would be paying cash. I handed the bartender a $ 20. I was asked if I wanted change, I said I would take $ 3 since my bill was $ 14 plus tip.

I have stopped in at Copperfields a handful of times now and it’s always good. The service is great, the beer selection cannot be matched and the food is awesome. The pulled pork sandwich has tons of flavor, slow cooked to perfection. I’ve had most the menu now and the blue cheese burger is a good pick as well as and they have great wings(go on Sunday for half priced). The beer is constantly rotating which is great, but the rare seasonals are sadly gone by the next time you come back. Perfect place to stop in if you live in the area for a beer and a bite.

This review is strictly for the bar bc I did not eat food here. I gave this place 4stars bc the beer selection is incredible, and the bartenders are super nice and attentive. I took off one star bc the juke box sucks!!! Big time!!! I love to listen to great tunes while drinking with friends and the selection is really lacking. So minus one star for crappy music! Other than that they have a vast collection of beers including my favorite Canadian beer that can only be found at one other place beside this one on the UES.

If you are a craft beer lover, this place is the best in the neighborhood. They have over 30 craft beers on tap and over 100 bottled varieties. Plus, a cask ale for the hard core beer geeks.(hey, who are you calling a geek?) The owners are very knowledgeable and passionate about their beer.

Copperfield’s has a great(rotating) beer selection on draft. If you aren’t sure what beer you want you can always ask for a taste from the bartender. I wish the menu would have a more detailed description of the beers though, would be a tad bit more helpful. The atmosphere is casual with low lights, nothing fancy but a great place to enjoy a few beers. The music doesn’t get obnoxiously loud, which is good when you want to have a conversation. Every time we have had bar food here it has been good, nothing extraordinary but tasty. They used to have darts, but since they repainted no more dart board. I hope it will come back, one of the things I looked forward to when coming here besides the great beer selection was throwing a few darts while tipsy.

Meh. Okay, I admit — I’m not a beer person. I’m much more of a wine and/or cocktails girl. But I was with friends who like beer, and I don’t like being difficult(plus they thought they also had wine and cocktails), so we ended up here for a drink before dinner. I assume the beers are a better price if you order draught beers, but for 2 drinks I think I ended up spending like over $ 20, which is just ridiculous in my opinion. Isn’t beer supposed to be like … cheap? I mean, I could get 3 glasses of wine for that price in most places. The even more irritating thing though, is how incredibly slow our server was. It took her like 10 or so minutes to check on us a single time. Our friends didn’t have cash, so we had to wait an eternity for her to get them a receipt. I will say, the bar food looked good, but there probably wasn’t much there for me anyway, seeing as I’m vegetarian. Three stars mostly because I realize maybe I’m a little biased, but the slow service and the ridiculous prices were pretty annoying.

Showed up here after grabbing a few drinks at work with my labmates. I was actually super hungry and I saw it was Oktoberfest time and was like«braaaa??» The place is basically just a bar. No surprises there. It’s dark and not fancy. The food is delicious. I got the bratwurst mega thingy or something and it was awesome. Two brats on a huge hero roll topped with sauerkraut and some kinda beets thing with french fries. It was pretty nice. The only reason that I can’t give the place five stars is the price. My meal was $ 10.99, which wasn’t terrible given the quantity, but in Chinatown I’d be dead if I ate the amount of food that $ 11 would buy me and I was still hungry when I left here. Their beers are what you’d expect(like $ 6.50+) so not terrible in some cases, but eh. Definitely a good place to go when you’re craving brats after some drinks. :D I had fun here and will likely be back.

I think, by far, David Copperfield’s has the best beer selection on the upper east side. Also, the beer menu changes all the time so I always get to try something new. There are beers from local breweries and anywhere else you can imagine. The food is great too; I love the shepherd’s pie and the pulled pork sandwich. This is my go to Upper East Side bar and I would definitely recommend it!

As expected, the better bars are usually located far away from subway station. David Copperfield’s is no exception. Located on York and 74th, DC is laidback and unpretentious. We easily nab seats to sit, and the bartender was fast to give us beer menus. For a small bar, they have a nice selection of draught beers from Delirium Tremens, Ommegang Belgian Pale Ale, Arrogant Bastard Ale, Six Point, etc etc etc. I haven’t had the food there, but a friend said he has and it is great. I can easily go back there to hang out with friends.

Terrific beer selection, and the food is above average. Can be pretty crowded and loud, but a fun place to watch sports and peruse the pours. The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful in choosing a good brew. I wouldn’t necessarily make this a dinner destination unless your first priority was the beer, with a sandwich chaser.

Hmm, it is true that this bar has a great beer selection. But then again, so does my house, and I don’t find hanging out at Copperfield’s much more exciting than hanging out at home. I just find the place kind of depressing and dreary. If you brought the crowd you could have a good time sampling the beers, but I find I haven’t dropped by here in ages, despite living nearby and loving quality beer. It seems that these days more and more places have quality beer offerings, so there are fewer and fewer reasons to go to Copperfield’s. Edit: okay, i was probably too harsh on this place. I stopped in today in passing for a $ 3 pint of microbrew during the 5 – 7 happy hour. I think this place just has a lighting issue that makes it kind of depressing, plus there always seem to be a couple older alcoholic types sitting at the bar. Still, they have constantly rotating microbrews.

Dear Schneider — Brooklyner Hopfen Weisse, you seduced me away from the Leffe Blonde that caught my eye. Your tongue twisting name could barely roll off my tongue and you seemed dangerous on this hot, muggy day. I wanted a beer, and German at that! When I saw schneider and the weisse, I thought of the found memories I had in Munich… The waitress came up and asked what I wanted and I couldn’t decide so she said the the Schneider was the way to go and my friend adamantly agreed. It was mid-afternoon and with the 8.4% alcohol, it could spell trouble. I wouldn’t be able to pick anything light today so I ordered a Shepard’s Pie thinking the carbs would keep me in check — NOT! I had to chug that sucker in an hour(due to time constraints) and boy did it hit me. My friend started laughing because my face flushed but I pointed out that she was also red and we giggled madly. Patrons are mostly people from the nearby hospital or the area and it’s pretty subdued. Staff is attentive, friendly and they FREAKING carded me which I guess is a compliment. The Shephard’s Pie could have been better and it mostly consisted of light mash potatoes which I think were instant and barely any ground beef to hold my liquor done. Sighs, luckily I wasn’t as buzzed so I was able to walk home straight.

Having been previously been with my former love, a hard-core avid beer enthusiast, I am knowledgeable about breweries and restaurants. For the avid beer enthusiast who is hard core about beer, this restaurant is also a brewery that(I believe) produces, serves and sells 30+ types of beer. They also are an active participant and vender in the Great World Beer Festival in New York City. This is one of the best brewery and restaurant combination with lots of food selection as well as beer.
