Food: cheese buldak(chicken in spicy sauce with mozarella cheese on top) — good, spicy but not too much. Portion is very small in my opinion. $ 17 Drink: soju(cham iseul) $ 14 Happy hour: 30% off during happy hour. Ends 7:30 on the weekends. Other days during the week ends 8:30. Service: very polite and efficient. Crowd: diverse with a majority of Korean-Americans.

This is my favorite bar/place to eat in ktown, and for the following reasons. 1. The service here is amazing!!! The manager, bartenders, and other employees are super polite, reapectful, and fast.(One time I called for a waitress and she literally ran over. It was so cute and sweet :)) 2. Not too many people seem to know about it compared to other bars because it’s on the fifth floor, so there’s never really a line unless you arrive after 10:30 on a weekend night. 3. They have 30% off your bill during happy hour everyday! 4. They now have 4 flavored sojus in addition to their yummy soju cocktails. 5. Food is actually pretty good. Some other have commented on the dukkbokki, but I’ve actually never had it. What I have had that is good and generally considered very authentic by myself and my Korean friends are: the army stew, bulgogi, and tofu/kimchi dish. In addition, they have good chicken poppers! Tips: 1. The army stew is actually better than pocha’s imo. At the end order a bowl of rice and dunk it in the leftover broth. It is superb. 2. Don’t come if you want a quiet dinner date or something. This place is very energetic, with people playing drinking games and whatnot. So it’s more for groups of friends. That being said, I have come with only one other friend on multiple occassions, and if you go before 9pm, it’s quieter. 3. If you’re going to drink a lot, and are not coming during happy hour, come with slightly larger groups of friends(like at least 4). This will actually bring down individual costs by a fair amount. 4. If you want to get your money’s worth in alcohol get one of the mixed alcohol pitchers, like the somaksa(soju + makeolli + sprite).

Loved their honey beer! Their seafood pancake was tasty too! Their ddukbbokki can be better tho… it was a bit too watery and sugary for my taste. But most of all, LOVE their happy hour(30% off your bill)!

Came with a group of friends one Friday evening to catch up. The place was kind of hidden but once inside the ambience and staff are very nice. Food and drinks were delicious!!! We ordered two tall glasses of the soju cocktail bottles in yakult(the fave of the group: sweet, tart and delicious It’s the Korean yogurt drink in alcohol form!) as well as the lychee. I also ordered the lychee coconut mojito which has the coconut flavor surprise you at the end which I ended up loving. I ordered the spicy seafood udon which was delicious and actually spicy! Others ordered ramen, fried chicken or fried rice. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and location.

Love some good Korean food. But this was just OKAY. Too many great places in the city to return to this place. Seafood rice cakes were okay. Rice cakes were over cooked so they weren’t as chewy as they should have been. Then we got pork and squid stir fried I believe? That was really yummy. Server was really nice. She redeemed our YUMMY free sake shot from Unilocal checkin! Dimly lit with a big bar. Overall OK experience but nothing to rave about.

This is a very expensive place for Korean food. The dishes we had were not really authentic tasting nor flavorful. The service was kind of slow and the staff does not speak good English. I don’t think this is a good spot for food in K-town as there are so many other options on this block that surpass the food and service. It can also be a bit noisy on a crowded night. The elevator is also pretty inconvenient and slow up to the 5th floor. This is a pass in my opinion for Korean food.

Fifth floor walk up for a decent food dish. My lady didn’t even want to eat here. But I did. The bulgogi. It was tasty. Apparently very sugary. But I liked it. And everything is good with soju. And a free peach sake shot was just sweet(like tasty sweet! But what else to expect from a peach shot). Not too big. Service was attentive once the lady refused to eat any longer and flagged down the waiter the first time. I hear the bathroom is clean which is always a good thing. Nice view of k town overall. And a slow elevator. Tip take the stairs to avoid waiting.

I agree with Joshua V. that this place is definitely spot on for large groups. It’s where I’d suggest for impromptu gatherings. We walked in around 7pm on Thursday night and got a table by the window. The place was pretty empty. The bar, which is very long, was completely empty, as were the back tables for larger parties. The bathroom was clean but the food options weren’t all that great, so I decided to pass on having dinner here but got an order of bulgogi anyway. I don’t eat meat so I just took a little finger dab of the sauce — WAY too sweet imo. The menu was too short for my liking, and the cocktail sojus are overpriced(as is the case at most Korean soju bars/hofs). We ordered a bottle of cham fresh and asked for the free peach sake shot. The lights are WAYYYYYYYTOOBRIGHT on the right side where we were dining(window area) — definitely would be a date vibe killer — at least for me. It’s also on the 5th floor — not a super inconvenience but meh. Service was fine but I had to wave the waiter down a couple times before he came to take my order. Bathrooms are generally clean — no complaints there. There’s just nothing special about this place that warrants anything about a meh 3 star.

Okay. This place has gotten a bit better. I found out that the manager has changed(few months ago) and they slightly revamped the menu(not too long ago) I haven’t tried their cocktails yet, but my go-to drink is the Honey Beer(w/Bluemoon). A lot of people will probably complain that the honey ruins the beer taste, but everyone has a different taste bud, and I just like it because it makes the beer sweet. plain fried chicken wing and fries are a must at this place

I have a special place in my heart for this spot; pretty much the ever enthusiastic side chick who’s waiting in the wings to meet your needs if you don’t get what you want out of option one(or at least that’s what I would imagine be the case). Why such a crude analysis? Well, it’s actually quite a fitting comparison(at least in the experience of this particular writer). The times that I’ve found myself coming here were in no way premeditated. In actuality, I had been the man-in-charge(so to speak) of a number of events that were to be held in Ktown. Not to much planning(obviously) went in to my event, pretty much just after work happy hours for young Filipino professionals… such venues had been screened(by me) at previous points in time; not too expensive, lots of room, able to accommodate a healthy number of people… such were the criteria which informed my selection. Alas, when game day arrived for all the events that I had planned, the venues were unavailable for one reason or another. My mind brain was in flux; people were counting on me after all(and these were posted events, at least a couple weeks in the making, so I knew that numbers would). I suppose that I could have avoided this(self-inflicted) predicament with some better planning, perhaps a phone call to each venue a night or so before the actual event… lesson learned(I hope). Either way, he first time that this had happened, the situation had me a bit worried; a mad scramble for another possible venue to accommodate our relatively large numbers ensued. A friendly suggestion came in the form of MUI. «Why the hell not» was pretty much what was going on in my head at that point. So we all headed over. It was prime happy hour timing, but thankfully I like to plan my events for the Filipino professionals on the innocuous and unassuming Wednesday(or Humpday, if you speak the vernacular that’s common for an A-hole). When we rolled in the place was relatively empty, which granted our collective the license to choose where to sit and/or stand. Easy access made posting up at the bar a no-brainer. Upon situating ourselves, we were greeted to prompt delivery of drink orders, quick refills on said drinks, and a bevy of tasty Korean food options. Needless to say, despite the predicament I had put myself(and the group) in, my worries were assuaged for the time being(it didn’t hurt that I got to wash my incompetence away with a tall cold one). You’d think I would have prepared my group happy hour the next time right?! Well, my most recent endeavor a couple weeks back pretty much fell victim to the same set of exigent circumstances, and our intended venue had become unavailable(for lack of a better word). I couldn’t help but crack a smirk while simultaneously shake my fist(internally) at this un-fortuitous case of deja vu. However, I was able to breath a little less heavy, knowing that MUI would be able to come off the bench.

I’ve come here several times because, as it so happens, every time a certain someone invites me to hang around K-Town, there’s always a private party in our initial venue of choice!(And no, the venue is not reserved for OUR private party.) So we always end up going to MUI which is usually dead until our group gets there and fills up the place. It’s always a fun time with my group of friends and they always have 30% off for happy hour. The food is always satisfying and on point. So why is this place usually a good default-party place? Because it’s usually dead when we come here; and why is that? The reason being is that their drinks are weak. I mean my friends and I settled for taking shots because their cocktails/beer weren’t doing the job but after 5 shots of Jameson, we barely felt the buzz. Nevertheless, like I always say, it’s all about the company. And so though I wouldn’t come here to pre-game, this is still another venue for my big group of friends and a good place to eat. And on a brighter note, we never have to scream to hear one another.

I came here for a Friday evening after work happy hour with some friends and I really enjoyed the place. Ktown has plenty of bars/lounges to drink and eat at, so it’s not surprising as a New Yorker that I somehow overlooked this cool spot. The spacing was great as there was a long bar in the middle, plenty of tables and seats to its left and the lounge had just the right amount of lighting. The happy hours here are from 5:30 — 7:30pm so there’s plenty of time to get your drink on after a long work week. For every food or drink item that is ordered, it’s 30% off, which is not bad. Some bars/lounges usually limit the happy hour menu, but not Mui. As for the menu, there were LOTs to choose from on both the food and drink menu. For drinks, there were different sections of cocktails, beer, soju, bombs and shots. For food, you name it and they had it! It was pretty extensive with tons of fried foods, noodle soups, grilled & boiled foods, pancakes, fried rice, sushi rolls and stir fried foods! Almost every item was understandably Korean-based. For our table we ordered a few items: Small Korean Style Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings Small Fried Chicken Wings Fried Dumpling with a Small Salad All I can really say was that the food was real good. The wings were spot on with good flavor. The dumplings were what we expected too. I liked that they served many small plated type foods that wet our appetites while we drank. Speaking of drinks, I ordered a Mojito and it was perfect! Not too heavy on the liquor, but not too light either. It had just the right amount of alcohol. The only complaint I had was that the music became a bit louder than I preferred as the night wore on since I was trying to chat with my friends. Other than that, this lounge is an awesome spot to just unwind after a long week and has a great happy hour deal!

I came to Mui with a group of friends last night for some drinks, and I stand corrected: THIS used to be Boss Lounge! What’s good about the place is that they have 30% off your entire bill during happy hour(5:30p-8:30p Sun-Wed) and there is a free shot upon checking in on Unilocal. It was also relatively quiet with just a few other patrons seated by the window. Because it was quiet, the bartender serviced us pretty well. There are 3 TVs at the bar for your viewing pleasure, although one just shows Korean music videos. As far as their food and drinks offerings, the menu’s a bit on the pricey side, but with 30% off, I got to try a few things.(I listed prices for the things I actually ordered; everything else I sampled from someone else.) Drinks — Lychee martini($ 13): good, but I’ve had better — Gin and tonic: standard Food — Spicy kimchi ramen($ 8): I expected better, but for $ 8 I won’t complain — Chicken wings: just regular fried chicken wings, comes with a side salad — Sweet potato fries: standard Overall, everything was just A-OK. The happy hour is decent, so I wouldn’t mind going back if I don’t have anywhere else to go. Just pay attention to your bill and make sure the 30% was actually taken off because it almost wasn’t for me.

I shared a bottle of makgeoli with a friend while we were waiting for our tables at a nearby restaurant. It was during happy hour, so we were surprised that there was so much seating available. We were served right away and left alone the entire time. We wanted to get our checks and leave but couldn’t find our server. When we received the bill, I saw that we were charged full price. I inquired about happy hour price– the server didn’t appear to speak much english. I asked for him to check the price of the drink as we ordered at 8PM and happy hour goes until 8:30PM. He just said«no happy hour», gave me the check and left… Liked the ambiance, but not so much the service.

Decent place with gorgeous décor, as with many of the k-town restaurants around here. We sat near the window overlooking the street so the view was nice, and the k-pop music/music videos were entertaining and gave the place a nice vibe on a weekday night. Neither of us are Korean and didn’t have any issues communicating with the staff. For happy hour specials, we got a moderate sized bottle of plum wine and they gave small little shotglasses(it was strong!) and we ended up finishing the bottle. Dinner was two bowls of ramen with veggies and udon noodles — my spicy seafood one was very savory, had scallions and a decent amount and variety of seafood. Will definitely come again!

this place is located on the upper floor. you have to take a very narrow elevator to get here. I enjoyed the sweet and spicy wings, kimchi pancake(it has spam!), and alien roll. washed this all down with a pitcher of hite beer during happy hour, which runs to 8PM even on a Friday. nice! didn’t care for the tiny drink glasses, but oh well. would prefer a nice pint glass or frosted mug(available @ Players). the bar looks pretty exciting as well as it has lots of seats and a big screen tv. there is also a more intimate looking section with booths(away from the street window). overall, a solid place to ease your mind and relax. and afterwards, you can hit up the many karaōke places nearby(there are a couple in the same building) and sing the night away.

Happy hour is 5:30 to 8:30 from Sunday through Wednesday, and 5:30 to 7:30 from Thursday through Saturday. You get 30% off your ENTIRE bill! And yes, this includes alcohol. A friend and I came in at around 7 on a Thursday and the place was pretty empty. Maybe it’s more popular as a lounge later on than it is a dinner spot in the evening. Either way, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we definitely over-ordered that night. Here’s what we had: Watermelon soju — meh. Although it was refreshing, there was very little soju in there. You can skip it. Or another idea — order this and an extra soju on the side. Fried chicken wings — the wings were nicely fried but I wish it came with some sort of dipping sauce on the side. It was lacking flavor. It comes with a side salad so you don’t feel as bad for stuffing your face with greasy food. Spicy tuna onigiri — this was good except it was SUPER spicy. I was literally chugging water and watermelon soju just to put out the fire in my mouth. I could’t even finish it. It would have been good if they toned down the heat a bit. Alien roll(soft shell crab tempura, spicy tuna, avocado, spicy mayo, and teriyaki sauce) — this had way too much rice, which was mushy. It also had this sour taste to it. Not sour like it had gone bad, but more like they had used too much rice vinegar in it. You should definitely avoid this roll.(and I’m assuming their other rolls aren’t much better) Spicy rice cake with seafood and cheese — I really liked this. We asked them to make it less spicy since my friend can’t handle it. When it showed up, it looked like it was going to be super spicy, but it actually wasn’t. It could have used some more cheese and fish cake but other than that, I would definitely order this again the next time I go.

I came here EXTREMELYHANGRY. I had just arrived in town and was being indecisive. Before I realized it, I was in Ktown. Now I’m originally from LA and now live in Chicago. There is no KTown in Chi so when I realized where I was I was estatic. I randomly stumbled upstairs and realized I was 30 min from Happy Hour ending. 30% off everything! AHHHHH.(They also don’t have HH in Chicago… lame, right?) Anyway, we got a grilled spicey squid and a korean rice cake thing — very much like sukayaki. We also did a pitcher of Sapporo. Ill say, not the most impressive stuff in the world, but I was hungry so it felt majestical. We came again after a long night of drinking bc my friend had no food in her belly. We got chicken wings and rice to sober her up. Good service. Solid food. No complaints.
