I usually just do breakfast at this spot so I wont be able to say anything about their lunches. I have gotten the toasted bagel and cream cheese and the breakfast platters. I also get my morning tea here as well. No bad experiences except that the cashier once swiped my card for the wrong price. She’s super nice so not a big deal since I’ll be refunded. I love the breakfast platter. Its 4.25 and comes with buttered toast and the most amazing potatoes. Will definitely keep coming here!

A decent deli tucked away in the Citi building. It’s located downstairs in the atrium and seems to never have much of a line. I’ve been here twice now and both times I have received a pretty decent lunch. The salad station is well-organized. For $ 8 you get yourself a decently-sized salad that is both filling and tasty. The second time I went, I got a sandwich. The bread ruined it for me but the Russian dressing was good so that nearly saved it. With a can of soda, your lunch will come out to about $ 10, which is standard for Manhattan.

Got food poisoning from market café at 425 Lexington. It was a normal Weds morning(was feeling fine and healthy) when I strolled in around 7:30AM to get a BLT sandwich. That was my first and only meal of the day and about an hour later my body started getting chills. I left work early that day; vomited and had constant diarrhea that day and the next. I spoke to the owner of Market Café the next morning and told him that I got food poisoning. He was a real smooth talker on the phone and told me «that no one has ever complained or got sick in the past». He also took down my phone number and said he would do his«due diligence» and give me a call back. Never got a call back from him. He obviously doesn’t care about customers; apparent that he is just greedy for $$$$. Please avoid eating food from this place; they have lost me as a customer…

Cons: — Pizza was okay. — Overpriced given the quality.

Can be okay if you’re starving and having unlimited budget and unlimited patience. Seems like the price for the breakfast I order every other day just went up 30% or I wasn’t being charged correctly all the other times. Either way rather than just keep debating the price with the counter person who didn’t really speak great English(not his fault it’s NYC and that’s what life looks like here). I asked him to just ring me up for my breakfast as I ordered it and to drop the whole debate. He didn’t understand that so he brought the manager(owner?) over and explained the situation, while the line is backing up who turns to me and says so is the matter resolved. I say yes it’s fine I just want my breakfast. Then the manager asks to see the register tape so he can further examine it(after I said drop it) and waste more of my and everyone else’s time. really?

This is your typical lunch spot in midtown east. It has a soup station, prepared sanGwich stop, warm platters and pizza and a salad station. There is however no buffet here that you can make your own platter and pay depending on the weight. It is located in the atrium basement of the building«cafeteria» and there are tons of tables in the center outside to entrance to sit down and take a load off. Overall, this is clean, relatively organized but a bit smaller than other spots in the area. Buon appetito.

Big lines and a captive crowd due to the Citibank building upstairs means a somewhat longer wait than normal. Luckily, most patrons are waiting for tossed salads. How silly. The pizza is very good and no one gets it, it seems. Two slices and a water are about $ 7. You can’t beat that in midtown.

This place is near my job. I absolutely love it!!! I come here at least once or twice a week. The breakfast is great and I love their salads. The workers know me by name and know my order.

I went during lunchtime on a weekday and it was a typical sandwich from a typical café. I would go back if there was nothing else. The line was fairly long but seemed to move fine. Nothing to complain about, but also not impressive.

Great for a quick stop to get a bagel & coffee at breakfast or a sandwich at lunch. Usually crowded but the wait is never too long. Friendly and efficient staff.

I love Market Café! They are like my staples. Banana walnut muffin for breakfast, cheese burger for lunch. With such an extensive menu, I think they are literally the best in the category

I’ve only been here for brekky after my gym class, so I can only speak for their breakfast treats… which, I must say, are quite tasty and served up at lightning speed. And, if you order a breakfast sandwich, it’s made-to-order, which is also a plus. In fact, this morning, I had ham, egg, & cheese on an everything bagel, and the cook made my egg and grilled up my ham as soon as I placed my order… and even gave me the option of 1, 2, or 3 eggs on my sammy… hmmmm 3 eggs on a sandwich with all of that other stuff… not a choice I made this morning, but maybe next time! Protein power!

AWFUL. I ordered a calzone which came cold. It was a hunk of bread, sliced in half with broccoli and cheese slapped in the middle and the top put back on — envision a sandwich. On top of that I ordered a slice of red velvet cake that was so stale I couldn’t even eat it

Another great lunch spot. I usually get a burger with fries because the fries are the best smelling and tasting from this place. I get a lot of compliments for the fries when I bring my take out burger with fries back to the office. It’s like any other lunch spot in the city if you want pizza or salad or any deli type meal.

Market Café actually serves hot food prepared on premises where I was finally able to sustain solid substance for a secured freshly made breakfast sandwich at $ 3.00. Condiments are freely available where the premier Heinz ketchup is among served.

This place is in the lobby of the office building I work in, so I’ve been eating here a few times a month for about 4 years now. Good salad maker with an excellent selection of ingredients. Good pizza, excellent sandwiches and entrees. The variety is impressive. The staff is very efficient and friendly. Avoid the vegetable side dish which is grossly over-priced, as are the packaged fruits and fruit salads. I can’t quite figure out why these items are so expensive, but obviously someone is buying them. Good breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, and egg dishes; but, a boring selection of pastries. If you need a quick lunch int he neighborhood, it’s totally worth considering Market Café

it’s so easy to just write this place off as a crap lunch spot. But before you do that, just hear me out. Breakfast: The guy taking your order can take like 300 orders at once, remember them all, remind the grill cooks what they should be doing, take your cash and send you on your way in blistering speed. He’s the king of the multi-task. He’ll never not amaze me. In 6 years of getting breakfast from him do you know how many times my order has been wrong? 0 times. Pizza: this pizza is outstanding. it outpaces any area pizza by long and far. Standouts are the Margarita slice and the chicken slice. Burger: flame grilled, huge, 2 slices of cheese. Excellent. Great lunch spot.

Cucina is definitely better than this place.

Way overpriced for food that is neither healthy nor anything special. Never feel like it is especially fresh. Don’t notice any emphasis on sustainable/organic. They use a TON of plastic/paper packaging: a small salad comes in a heavy duty plastic container with a plastic fork, a huge wad of napkins, all shoved into a heavy paper bag. I have to tell them«No bag» EVERYTIME. WASTEWASTEWASTE!

I order lunch from Market Café via SeamlessWeb quite frequently. Why? One word: FRUIT. They have the best fruit in town. I always get the mixed berries cup. It’s a generous serving of strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. And it’s always fresh. You also can’t go wrong with the large fruit salad. Unlike most other places, Market Café does not skimp on the quality fruits(e.g. pineapple, berries, mango, kiwi). In other words, you’re not paying $ 7 here for a bunch of melon. Other reasons to order from Market: 1) Rice Pudding. yum yum yum(esp when eaten by dipping previously mentioned fruit into it) 2) Pretty decent specialty sandwiches 3) Lots of variety(e.g. salad, sandwich, pizza, calzones, etc) 4) Always prompt delivery 4 stars instead of 5, however, because their chicken noodle soup is on the salty side and you can’t order bagels here(unless you opt for one of the cheese sandwiches)
