Amazing cut today by Addison! His attention to detail was impeccable and I walked out feeling like a million bucks. My hair looks fantastic and all of the staff at Mark Garrison (including Mr. Garrison himself!) were incredibly kind and attentive. Shoutout to Jenine for being such a welcoming presence. I had my first visit at Mark Garrison Salon last week, and I feel like this place is worth taking the time to write a review. I got the Balayage deal on Gilt, and wasn’t sure what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised! I have finally found someone who truly understands hair color! Edita is truly a hair color goddess. She listened to my concerns and what I wanted, and was able to hide all of my grays, while achieving the color I was looking for. Her passion for color really shows in her work. I have gotten so many compliments on my new color! Thank you Edita, for really taking the time to get it done right! I will see you again in August ;)

I bought a Gilt City coupon for bayalage and haircut. I and needed to fix some old highlights that didn’t blend anymore. I wanted a more natural look and I heard that bayalage is a great alternative to foil highlights for achieving that. I am also trying to grow my hair out so I didn’t want a stylist who cut off too much from my hair. Edita is very meticulous and did a very careful job making sure my hair coloring was blended well with my natural hair color. She did a combination of bayalage, highlights and lowlights with foil, carefully looking over every strand of hair with great patience. James is a great stylist. After chatting with me for a few minutes, he knew exactly how much to cut and what I wanted. He was very precise with his technique. The only gripe for me is that the salon is really far from me as I live in New Jersey. So with the commuting and time spent in the salon, it took up most of my saturday and I was exhausted after that. If you live in the city and close to the east side, this is a professional place to get your haircut and coloring done. The blowouts are amazing too. If you have a special event to go to in the city, they can really make you look like a movie star.

Edita is by far the most talented colorist ever! She creates beautiful, natural looking highlights. And, she easily takes years off my actual age.
And Rosie is a genius. My hair is short, poker straight, and fine. She somehow tames the cow licks and sends me off with a carefree, chic look that gets comments from friends and strangers alike.

Edita is so talented! She transformed my old bayalage (from a different salon) to more natural tones that highlight my face — beautiful color! I will be going back to her from now on :) Shout out to Azza too and James for always a perfect cut and style.

Had such a great experience with Mark Garrison last week! Addison was very professional and attentive, other stuffs are also very friendly. My appointment was at 4pm and I arrived a few minutes early. Addison promptly got me seated, and the whole experience couldn’t be more wonderful. Before we started cutting, he asked what kind of style I like and the length, you know the standard… He paid a lot of attention to details, even to the smallest thing, and at the end, he delivered the exact same hair style we’ve discussed if not better. I have gotten a lot of compliments of my new hair style, and I can’t thank Addison enough for this.

I had a great experience here at Mark Garrison Salon! I went in to get a simple trim and some long layers, but I have a lot of hair so it could get tricky. My stylist Addison handled it with great patience and precision. The layers came out great and I didn’t lose too much length which is important. The other staff at the salon were welcoming and thorough as well. Great experience overall and I plan on coming back to color my hair soon!

Hands down the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. I didn’t think it got this good. I walked in with chunky grown out bangs and walked out with texture, flow and a super low maintenance haircut that looks like I spend hours blowing it out. I cannot say enough about the cut.
The salon itself is BEAUTIFUL — it feels like you’re walking into a spa. Everyone was professional, gracious, welcoming, just beyond. I’m not going anywhere else. Totally sold.

My experience at Mark Garrison Salon was incredible. I was warmly greeted by Katija at the front desk, who was very attentive. While I waited the general manager Jenine came and greeted me which made me feel very welcomed. The atmosphere in the salon is friendly and inviting but always professional.
Addison was my stylist and he immediately made me feel at ease. I’m honestly quite awkward and tend to just sit in silence staring at myself like a creep, but this wasn’t the case. Addison was so friendly and cracked jokes which made everything more comfortable.
My cut was incredible! I’ve received nothing but compliments on it and I can’t wait to go back for my next cut.

I have been going to Edita for color for about a year now and she is a rare find! Talented and a wonderful listener. She puts time and effort in to make sure she crafts the perfect look for her clients. She has a golden touch! You will not regret going to her for color.
I have gotten several great haircuts from James and Addison has worked wonders blowing out my very thick mane. The staff and customer service is excellent and well worth the price.

I called the salon and 30min later I was greeted by the friendly and very helpful receptionist at the salon which escorted me to my colorist and stylist. I got partial highlights from Neide Delgado and style by Gregory Mitouart. Both were amazing at what they do. Usually I am not a big fan of salons but today was a real treat that left me completely satisfied and I already scheduled my next appointment for the near future. Plus I got a photo shoot of my new hairstyle for free at the end of my appointment that left me feeling extra fab. I believe I found my new beautician spot :)

Came in for a long layers hair cut and had a very positive experience. Azza was able to give some movement to my hair without losing too much length, which is always very important to me as a girl with long hair! Additionally, everyone at the salon was very friendly and welcoming. Nothing but good things to say!

Just to clarify — I just called about getting a haircut for the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Program. Now they do participate in the program by packaging and sending your hair for you, but your haircut will still cost $ 45 plus tax. Also, they schedule all donation cuts on Wednesdays.
I spoke to Shae on the phone, very professional and nice even when I realized the haircut was not free.
So just be aware.

Holy cow, Mark Garrison Salon rules. I finally took the plunge and decided to add some color to my brunette locks and I could not be happier!
Dina is an amazing colorist. She listened to my needs (I’m a low-​maintenance gal) and told me that balayage in golden hues would make my features pop while honoring my desire for a natural look. She is everything you could ever ask for– knowledgable, funny, kind, and incredibly talented (basically the entire package)!
Carmen at the front desk welcomed me with a warm smile and impeccable service. Jenine, the General Manager, was attentive, friendly, and professional. She certainly makes sure that your visit to MGS is luxurious each and every time!
While I didn’t get my hair cut this time, my curly hair has been growing in beautifully thanks to my last cut with the wonderful Addison. He is a newcomer to the salon and brings with him his talent to this amazing city. I can’t wait to visit him again for a cut when the time is right!

I purchased both the gilt city balayage deal and the haircut deal because I’ve been trying to find a new salon in the city. After scheduling my appointment I was nervous that I wouldn’t get the same attention as a «full paying» customer, but that fear left after just a few minutes of being there!
Edita was my colorist and she was so amazing! She is an artist and takes her time to build beautiful, gradual, natural highlights.
She knew exactly what she was doing, after consulting and showing her a picture of what I wanted she informed me that I will probably need to use foil and not the balayage. She probably sensed that I was excited to try balayage so she told me she’ll do it anyway and see how my hair takes. She was right of course, and although the balayage was SO BEAUTIFUL, I did want it lighter and bolder.
Unfortunately, I had another appointment to be at and we didn’t have enough time. She was more than happy to see me again later that week to touch it up and get it to the color I wanted. When I went back I was expecting just to have a few pieces redone — but she took every single piece and made it absolutely perfect!
I was so impressed by the attention she gave me, and LOVE the outcome. I will definitely be going back to be spoiled by Edita again. These five stars are for her!!!

In the past eight years of living in the city I have had my color done at Bumble and Bumble, Rita Hazan and Louis Licari, Edita at the Mark Garrison salon is the best color I have ever received.
I came to Edita a month ago with double processed hair that was broken and incredibly fragile. She consulted with me about the look I wanted and came up with a way to achieve a bright blonde without damaging my hair. I am so happy with the color. Edita highlighted my hair one section at a time, checking on it constantly. Then, she did a base color, gloss and treatment. I was shocked she was able to lift my naturally dark brown hair without bleach… no one has ever been able to do so before without it looking brassy and yellow. Both Edita and her assistant, Christine, are warm, friendly, kind and considerate.
Edita is saving my hair one strand at a time :-) Roxy is also great for cuts and blowouts.

Purchased a Gilt City deal this afternoon for the balayage, blowout & kerastase treatment package and was scheduled for an appointment the same day. It was my first time ever purchasing a voucher for hair coloring so I was reluctant and nervous about the service I would get.
I was so pleased with the way I was treated. They really take care of their clients and listen to what they have to say. My colorist Edita was so informative and great! I explained to her what I wanted, showed her a picture and she executed! She really took her time with me and explained every step. Absolutely love her! Staff was also very warm, professional and accommodating.
I’ll definitely be returning for future coloring and touch ups with Edita.

After moving to the city in 2009, I despaired of ever finding a hair salon that would be as enjoyable and friendly and knowledgeable as the one I (quite literally) grew up with in my hometown (rural Oregon isn’t exactly a hot spot for that kind of thing). Leaving my hairstylist of 15+ years was hard and after a few attempts at other salons in Brooklyn and Manhattan, I wondered if I would ever again get a haircut that suited me and my sense of style and personality…
A friend had me come to Mark Garrison Salon to serve as a hair model about a year ago, and I’ve been coming to this salon exclusively ever since. Unlike the quiet hipster salon I went to in Brooklyn a number of times, MGS is where luxury meets passion, friendliness, and fun. I’ve come here enough times now that half the staff knows my name and I theirs; there’s a camaraderie amongst the stylists that’s infectious and delightful, and there’s rarely an awkward silence to be had. From the moment I walk in to the moment I leave, I’m attended to with respect, diligence, and smiles left and right.
No cut or color is out of bounds here. You can play it as safe or as wild as you’d like; I myself like it short and bold to match the rest of me, and everyone at MGS is always ready with compliments and ideas to make it the best cut/​color possible. I was in as recently as two weeks ago for a coloring — Dina knocked it out of the park. For cuts I regularly go to Danielle, who’s calm and collected and knows her stuff but is always eager to learn new things; I’ve also gotten the Mark Garrison treatment first-​hand. The man is a delight and a master at his craft. Likewise, James has also had a go at my hair and never ceases to amaze. It’s the perfect salon for me, as someone who’s always willing to try new things and leave it in the hands of true professionals to make something amazing happen.
I don’t see myself going anywhere else for a haircut as long as I’m in NYC. But I do visit my old salon in Oregon whenever I find myself back there for more than a week! :)
