Margrith of Switzerland

My colleague and I had manicures here before a work event last week – they were both sub-​par to say the least. The manicurist and the rest of the staff were incredibly nice and the salon was clean. However, on both our hands the polish on the areas near to the cuticles was jagged and unpainted. Honestly, I have done much better.

I had the best haircut and style here! My hair looked better than ever! Margrith did an amazing job! I am very pleased and will definitely go back regularly!

For a relaxing and pampering environment and super highlights go now further than Margrith.

I have never been disappointed by Margrith of Switzerland! I discovered them 15 years ago when I worked in the area and needed a place to get a reasonably-​priced facial. Well, I got hooked and have gone there for many facials (Ursula is fabulous) waxes, and a manicure or two. Then I found that my favorite hair stylist, Maria, was moving there – so now I go there for my highlights which she makes SO VERY natural-​looking.
Everyone there is professional and friendly. This place is a real hidden jewel.

So while I was living in DC my boyfriend (now husband) was living and working in NYC. I worked out this perfect arrangement in which I would «telework» on Fridays. This basically meant I would take the bus up to New York on Thursday nights and then check my email a few times on Friday while bouncing all around midtown to shop and do girlie things.
It was during this time that I discovered Anni who does all the waxing at Margrith. She is the sweetest women and she has me in and out of there for a brazilian wax in 20 minutes or less all while being EXTREMELY thorough. I appreciate her not acting like its a spa experience.
Some people don’t like being talked to during this service, but she always has something interesting to talk about and engages me in a way that I forget that I am having hair ripped from one of my most intimate regions. All of sudden I am finished.
I will warm you that the waxing room isn’t spa-​like or relaxing. It is very clinical, but the ease and near painlessness of her waxing more then makes up for that.
O and for an Aveda concept salon the pricing is VERY reasonable.

This is my first Unilocal review, but I just have to tell you that I have been going to Margrith for my highlights for years and she is the BEST with blonde highlights. I won’t trust my hair to anyone else. She gives me the «I never left California» natural highlights that are so hard to find. Plus the salon is so light and peaceful. You can chat if you want to, but most of the time I just chill out and relax. I think the prices are very fair ($ 200 for full highlights on long hair). I alternate between full and half and go every three months.
I’ve recently started to have her cut my hair and she does a wonderful job on that, too. One thing to note: they charge extra for a blow out. If you are just going for highlights, you can avoid the charge for a blow-​out by asking to do it yourself. They set you up at a station with whatever brushes you need.

This place is my go-​to for anything beautification. The staff is delightful and so friendly, and they do a great job and treat you like family. I got a great bikini wax that’s oh-​so-​smooth with Annie who couldn’t have been nicer or put me at greater ease.
It’s so easy to get to with direct access to the E/​V station on 53^rd and 3^rd on the second floor of the public atrium at 875 Third Avenue. Margrith really knows what she’s doing. Love the great selection of Aveda products. Definately highly recommended!
