We have our company board dinner in the wine room upstairs and 3 years in a row, have never been disappointed. It is a real neighborhood gem in midtown. The food is delicious and service attentive, simply excellent!

Very over priced bland food. We were a party of four. The chicken marsala and $ 39 sea bass was so bland. Fish was not even fresh. one of the worst Italian place in NYC. Avoid if you can.

Excellent. Under new management & clearly great new chef. Best pasta primavera I ever had. Still a gorgeous, relaxing place. Highly recommend.

We came here with a Groupon deal and we’re very excited for a double date meal. We ordered two appetizer and an entrée each. The appetizers were bland and the server was quite awkward when trying to serve us. However the entrée portions are very large and quite delicious! We were quite surprised when handed the bill — it was so expensive! The quality did not justify the prices and we walked away quite shocked at how much our meal cost. I would recommend this place if friends needed a pricey venue to take clients to.

This place is very over priced. Rent must be high but prices really not fit for this place. They were so quiet during dinner hours, now I understand why. Many other good Italian restaurants in NYC with reasonable prices.

The staff was so genuinely welcoming that I loved the place immediately. I unabashedly adore Chicken Parmigiana. In this era of ‘bespoke” food, it’s not the easiest dish to find. Well, I shouldn’t say that. My diner and deli offer it. The diner and deli versions will do in a food crave pinch but are never satisfying. Luna Piena’s version was crave worthy and something I will go back for. My friend had one of their specials, a seafood/gluten free pasta dish. I tried it and it too was delicious.

I have walked past this place dozens of times but never tried it. My parents were visiting and my mom had an Italian food craving just we were walking to a Thai restaurant on the same block. That is how we ended up at Luna Piena! We were seated outside upon our request by the friendly host. The host and waiters are all very friendly and welcoming, which I attach great value to. The menu is simply laid out and priced appropriately for the area(entrees are $ 20-$ 30). The foccacia bread served with olive oil was not a bad way to whet our appetites as we waited on our food. I ordered the Lasagna, my dad had the artichoke soup and mom had the seafood pasta. The artichoke soup was inhaled before I knew it was even served! My lasagna was also very good. the sauce was excellent! The dish looked enormous and heavy, but was very«fluffy» and just right(or maybe I was just very hungry!). My mom’s seafood pasta was also excellent. The shrimp were very fresh and the basil in the sauce added to that great fresh taste. The waitstaff were all very attentive throughout our time at the restaurant and all three of us felt like we made the right decision by trying Luna Piena! Yet another winner in our neighborhood! Hooray! If you find yourself in the area looking for Italian food, you won’t be disappointed with Luna Piena. Check it out!

I had been here on Friday for the first time and I had a wonderful time, what made our dinner special was the charming manager Genc, he guided us briefly through the menu and helped us with the specials, I had the branzino special which was recommended by Genc, he was also very generous by offering us free grappa and lemoncelo, thank u very much Genc, we’ll be back!

I am mid meal and this place is exceptional. The service is on point. They gave us free wine for moving our table 3 inches! Also, they had a burrata app that was to die for. Will keep you posted with the main dishes! Definitely come here!

If can’t believe that the place was disgusting, the old manager was rude and I wouldn’t eat there for free. The neighborhood found out it was under new management so we went there for a laugh. The laugh was on us. He was the kindness manager who really cared about his job. He would pull up a chair and said that we don’t need menus in his house. 8⁄26 I went back there and I heard it was sold and Frank is not there and again the worse service I have ever had. This is a neighbor place and if u can’t cater to your customers than go into something else. When the manager would take off his scarf and give it to me because I forgot mine is what NYC restaurants need.

Came here for an early dinner for an overnight weekend in NYC. We ended up choosing this spot because the menu and pictures looked great. We came in for a 3 o clock dinner as we had later plans and the place was completely empty, which is not a big deal. There was a bit of an odd odor which our entire party noticed as soon as we walked in. The food itself was pretty good — we got the gnocchi and squid ink linguine with assorted seafood in a tomato sauce. The gnocchi was great. It was pillowy and was the perfect serving. I thought the linguine was a bit over cooked and was hard to differentiate from the muscles as both were black.

Went here one night when my fiancé and I were craving italian and wanted to stay in the neighborhood. The chef(owner?) was so friendly! He greeted us, asked if it was our first time and emphasized that we could just tell him what we wanted and didn’t have to order off the menu. My fiancé had the Rigatoni Bolognese, which was to die for! I had the Agnolotti Funghi Misti, which was also quite delicious. I docked a star for 2 reasons: 1) the waiter took our plates before we were done and before we could stop him, he’d already stacked another plate on the food(hey, I wanted that!); 2) the chef(owner) offered us a free tiramisu dessert — the dessert was pretty good, but they charged us for it. My fiancé didn’t really care, but it bothered me since we were stuffed and wouldn’t have ordered dessert if he didn’t offer it for free. Either way, we will definitely be back often! Yum!

Went to Luna Piena for a Valentine’s Day dinner with my girlfriend. The ambience is very nice. It is not a large restaurant but that adds to the intimate setting. We were immediately greeted by the manager Frank who introduced himself and made us feel at home. Our table was not ready for our 845 reservation so we had to wait but frank was very apologetic and that counts for a lot with me. The food was good, not GREAT compared to others I have been to in the city and in Westchester. The service was very good and all of our needs were taken care of. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.

Not your typical«good NYC local Italian standard.» They want to be more but the kitchen and wait staff holds it back. We ate here last night with friends who recommended it due to its convenient location during very cold weather. Does cold weather mean lukewarm soups? No. Does cold weather mean lukewarm risotto? No. Does cold weather mean a cold bread basket? No. Does cold weather mean not having three wines we chose on their wine list? No. Does cold weather mean the octopus app should be cold inside? No. Does very cold weather mean needing electric space heaters? Maybe! My lamb shank special($ 32) was delicious, sadly the risotto was cold. The inexperienced waiter started to scrape it off my plate for reheating. I stopped him from doing what he might do at home and said no, have the kitchen send out fresh hot risotto, which they eventually did. My wife had three apps for dinner: her pasta fagiole soup was luke warn, as was my minestrone. No fresh pepper was ever offered, another sign of non-professional waiters, as was them totally confusing who got what for dinner. Each dish was accompanied with a «who ordered the???» Our friends decided to share a whole branzino. Once it was deboned at the table they only got two tiny filets. Much less than they expected, or have had at other restaurants. It was the smallest portion of that fish I’ve ever seen. Finally, we ended the meal with tiramasu, which took a very long time to arrive, essentially after we had finished our coffees. It was a nice sized portion, light and not overly sweet. I’m not planning to go back for another $ 145 disappointing meal. They are many other better places nearby.

I may only be Italian by marriage but I know that the food here was really only average. Also, the service struggled to give the correct orders to my table, and while there were about a dozen of us, the staff should have been able to handle this. I may return but will not necessarily rush back.

Had been here before and came back to the same high quality service and attention at the table and the wine and food. I was late for my reservation but we were seated promptly and were waited on very competently with good attention but not over or underwhelming attention. The waiter was super and was fine with changing the wine when the one I asked for was not available and the replacement was just not right… I like that. Food was the lamb shank with risotto. I asked for a substitution as I am not a risotto fan. Again the waiter was extremely accommodating providing linguine which was cooked al dente and was really a super accompaniment. The lamb was tender and was cooked in a brown sauce with finely chopped onions etc. Fell off the bone and was not fatty at all. Great experience all around.

Still spectacular, so I had to bring my boyfriend. We flew into NYC for a quick weekend trip that also happened to fall on my boyfriend’s birthday. Where to for dinner? Luna Piena! It was also convenient for us as we were staying in midtown Manhattan. Of course, we started with wine. It was a birthday dinner after all. We opted for a recommendation from the waiter who suggested the sangiovese wine(~$ 60) — savory and full bodied. For an appetizer, we had the tuna carpaccio over a bed of arugula. The tuna was chilled and perfectly salted. The pairing with lemon and arugula added a wonderful bitter citrus bite to the dish. A light option to start the meal. For my entrée, I had the Agnolotti ai Porcini(ravioli with porcini mushrooms in a white truffle cream sauce) and Willy had the Bolognese. My dish was amazing. The raviolis were handmade and each bite was filled with a perfect combo of cheese and mushrooms. The sauce was light, creamy, and finished with the subtle richness of a white truffle oil. I’m still dreaming about it. One of the better porcini ravioli dishes I’ve had. Willy’s bolognese also was quite spectacular. A simple option, but so well made it was the star of the evening. We had no problem finishing every last bite. The sauce tasted like it had been marinating for hours. The cavatelli was coated with the meaty sauce packed with hearty, rich tomato sauce. The meal was finished off by a complementary tiramisu on a plate emblazoned with«Happy Birthday!» in chocolate sauce. A wonderful treat as we were not expecting that from the staff. Our waiter was so kind and attentive, suggesting a few options based on customer favorites and his personal recommendations. A fine evening it was and Willy had the happiest of birthdays.
