Great atmosphere, nice selection of books for kids, and well-informed employees. Very interesting card selection too, with graphic interest and some that are offbeat. Always worth a visit.

Thank you guys for the wonderful service! This bookstore has everything that B&N doesn’t at cheaper prices. This includes vintage scholarship and Biblical studies material. Not only mainstream Christianity material. Thank you so much. Edwin Mendez Jr.

Lovely bookstore. Man behind the counter was very kind and had a cute cat. The religious/spiritual leanings are cool, but they do make it feel a bit unbalanced in terms of selection. Nevertheless, the vibes are great. I got a beautiful thank you card for some friends of mine and enjoyed my visit.

Oasis on the UES. Cute, comfortable and not big and commercial. They have a decent assortment of current and classic books, specializing in religious and spiritual. If they don’t have the book you want, they can special order. They have a nice assortment of cards for all occasions, and always have good music playing. The staff is always friendly and helpful, especially the resident cat!

Was a pleasure to visit. The gentlemen working there were easy-going and very helpful. They’re well-stocked with all the classics as well as current best sellers. Their cards and stationery selections are unique — not your typical drugstore Hallmark stuff — and inexpensive too! We were walking by planning to just browse, but ended up leaving with several books and a card. I’ll definitely be coming back for some summer reading. Yay!

A well chosen selection. I visit at least once a month to see what they are displaying. I can’t imagine the economics are very good, so I hope they stay in business. A neighborhood plus.

It’s closed for summer break until Aug. 25th. Also, the address on Unilocal is incorrect. It’s on the corner of York and 84th. I’ll be coming back though when it opens back up!

Logos has an excellent selection of all books, both contemporary and classics. They’ll order any book not in store. Their book group KYTV chooses books of high quality. Discussions take place in the back of store accompanied by wine, cheese and devoted and interesting participants. This store is a creative enterprise with many literary activities for adults and children.

I love independent bookstores(and buy from them whenever I can, anything that keeps me from the zoo of B&N on 86th is a plus) but I just can’t seem to get into Logos. It’s generally pretty empty, I don’t think I’ve ever seen more than 1 other person in there at a time, which is a huge plus for me. However, the selection is really odd, very very heavy on the spiritual/religious(mostly Christian), and older bestsellers, neither of which are categories of books I’d like to dedicate precious shelf space to. I walked in looking for a crossword book and they only had 2 kids’ ones. Just not my vibe and there are other nicer local options(although they aren’t as close to me).

Logos is a pleasure to visit in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood. One reviewer recommended picking up a book and heading to Carl Shurz Park, which is across the street. A good way to spend an afternoon if you want to feel as if you have escaped the city. Logos has a good variety of books for adults and children, and staff are helpful and able to order anything they do not have in stock. They host a monthly«Kill Your TV» Book Club with intelligent selections as well as occasional readings. They have a few chairs around in case you feel like staying to read, which is a nice touch, too. This place is worth your business. It is not a mega-bookstore with a Starbuck’s attached, but everything you’d want in a neighborhood bookstore.

Why go to an independent bookstore with a small selection of books when you can go to Barnes and Noble? –«Just because it feels right.» That’s how I felt when I visited Logos for the first time. Logos has friendly staff and a wonderful collection of books for someone in search of life enrichment. They also gift wrap for free. –Which is nice. The store has gorgeous custom built book shelves and a cozy atmosphere in the heart of Yorkville. The last time I was there I bought a book and then spent the afternoon reading at nearby Carl Shurtz Park.

Great bookstore. There exists a wonderful staff, and a great array of books. It reminds me of the bookshop in «You’ve Got Mail.» That is, the small, independent one, owned by Meg Ryan. I love Barnes and Noble, but there is something about supporting the smaller shops. There is a quaint atmosphere that, like starbucks for the coffee world, cannot be obtained by the corporate machines. The store includes: cards, gifts, best sellers, children’s books, children’s literature, children’s hour, classics, fiction, poetry, philisophy and a lot on spirituality and religion.

Logos is a true mom-and-pop bookstore. It’s small, quaint and after just a few visits the staff starts to remember you, which can be good and bad depending on what type of book you are looking for. I knew I would like to store, not just because I am right in the neighborhood but more so by the title of their book club«Kill Your TV». The book club just celebrated their 10th anniversary and has read some amazing book, non-fiction and fiction included.(I received a list of all the books the club has read the last time I went into the store.) I went to my first book club earlier this month where we read Don Quixote, a personal favorite of mine. The group was eclectic and very interesting. Another plus, free(yes, I said it… FREE) wine and cheese & crackers, that earned it another star right there!

Logos Bookstore specializes in Judeo-Christian books and bibles. Isn’t the place to go if you want to find books for sale, but they do have the largest collection of Judeo-Christian books.

An individual non-chain bookstore of the old kind, the kind sorely missed in NYC.
