Came here for dinner last week. I have to say that I’m shocked to find so many bad restaurants in west village. This one fit the bill on all accounts. First of all horrible service, I couldn’t get the check for a long while. Nobody ever asked us if we wanted water. There wasn’t anybody at the counter and the people tending the table were nowhere to be found. I also didn’t appreciate that they added the an 18% tip on the bill(party of 2!) without even mentioning it. I was under the impression that in a capitalist system the tip was decided by the costumer based on the service. Silly me. Just plain dishonest. As for the food, the ceviche was just bad. I can’t believe people say the food is good. Go to the Peruvian restaurants of Queens! this is a shadow of them. Fish wasn’t fresh. The only thing that can be salvaged from that night was the shrimp plate I had. It was really good. Nevertheless, by no means it can overcome the atrocious service and the mediocre food. Be happy to never come back, and I will encourage you to do the same

The food was good. The service was bad. They do not accept credit cards which was unknown to me until the bill came. I had to leave and go to a cash machine. Very obnoxious.

Fantastic Fresh and tasty. Great relaxed service makes this a great place to bring a friend who you can talk to for hours.

Tasty food. Friendly service. Could do with a gluten free menu with at least one dish on the menu with none of the major allergens.

To echo many of the other’s on Unilocal,we dined at Lima’s Taste tonight and not much had changed. Great, tasty food! Painfully slow service. Lima’s Taste is a staple on Christopher Street, having been around for longer than I’ve lived in New York(that’s over 10+ years now). I visited Lima’s Taste to the tune of about 7 years ago and had a tasty experience, and have never had a reason to avoid it with the minor issue that I don’t live that nearby. On a Sunday night(tonight), the restaurant is close to empty. Upon our arrival, we are quickly greeted and seated, and served a small serving of «concha,» or peruvian corn nuts. Drinks: We ordered the Pisco Sour, and the Passion Fruit Pisco Sour. Both were good, but I would choose the Passion Fruit over the regular — full of flavor and it mutes the egg white foam a bit. Appetizers: We ordered the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp and the Ceviche Mixto. Both had very healthy portions of seafood and were delicious! The shrimp wrapped in bacon was served with a Peruvian spiced green dipping sauce which was very tasty as well. Entrees: We ordered the specials on the board. Glazed Baby Back Ribs served over yucca fries, and the Fish of the Day, served with vegetables in a beer citrus sauce with peruvian spices. Both dishes were very enjoyable and quite large portions of meats. The fish was practically a whole fish for the $ 28 and totally worth it. The ribs were, of course, in a Peruvian style topped off with many marinated red onions. Lima’s Taste has a very consistent track record on its food. I would absolutely go back with the expectation that the service might be a bit slower than I might want. If you need your water refilled, you’ll need to request. If you need anything at all, you may need to get the server’s attention because they may not be the type to come see if everything’s alright. Overall, it’s not bad and I would return.

The host was rude. No bread. No rice. Nothing to enjoy sauces which are quite delicious. The drinks are good. The place is nice to sit in, but the plates are quite expensive for what they contain. The corn they give to munch while you order is impossible to digest.

Ceviche pescado was good but the waiter’s service was very bad and unpolite. Good place to watch soccer games.

Great little West Village find! Authentic food and drink, and the staff is awesome(it appears hey are all family of the owners). The highlight of the dinner was the Striped Bass steamed in Peruvian beer with Peruvian spices and vegetables. Absolutely amazing. I would also recommend the paella which was perfectly prepared. Also on the«definitely order again» list is the ceviche — we had tuna and salmon, but they had a good selection. All in all a winner.

Had a wonderful dinner at limas taste last night! Great atmosphere. The ceviche is amazing, very fresh and flavorful! Yucca fries cooked to perfecting. The drinks are so refreshing, we had a pitcher of sangria and the specialty cocktails! Perfectly shaking! Defiantly making this a regular spot!

Third time back, easy location, superb ambiance, very homey and warm interior design(especially now in winter), attentive service, very tasty Peruvian food, most recommended are lomo saltado(mignon chunks), ocean queen(excellent ceviche-like sauce over seafood with spices) & paella(always a sure deal, not too spicy but very full of flavor and care). Note, no desserts(or if any, they’re not much worth it). Only downside is portions might be said to be on smaller side but not hungry afterwards. Live soccer on HDTV in front, bar seating on front of restaurant is very scenic & you can people watch. Excellent 5−7p $ 6 sangrias &1 of Village’s best pisco sours.

The service was good but a little slow. The sangria was cheap, and the portion of the ceviche was very small and the lime was so bitter it felt like they squeezed it in the morning. So I decided to order the queen and it still didn’t make it better: the rice was hard and the seafood was very plain. I would think before I come here again.

Ridiculously small portions of overpriced sub-par food delivered by a disinterested slow waiter. Rotten lettuce in the salad and the skirt steak was small and grissily.

I had the good fortune to dine at Lima’s Taste just last week, Oct. 30, 2014 and it did not disappoint. I had not been back there in over a year, so I was extremely happy to see that business was good, and there had been a cool re-Model of the interior since my last delicious, Peruvian meal. We were seated immediately in the dining space at a side booth/table and ordered the traditional Pisco Sour. The menu choices were listed on a chalkboard on one wall, as well as the specials. Not a giant selection, but in my opinion: that’s perfect. Have a few select dishes and do them extremely well. I had the Lomo Saltado,(fillet mignon medallions sauteed with tomatoes, onions and french fries), and my two companions had a rib special that made me extremely jealous. Of course I tried it, and the meat slid right off the bone into my mouth. Delicious. I always suffer from food envy. Regardless, we had a great meal. Our waitress and servers were checking-in(Just the right amount of attention.) The proprietors came over to say Hello and catch up. We ended the evening with desert and an after-dinner apertif. I can’t wait to go back to this Christopher Street gem, and expand my palette. And have some more Papa a La Huancaina.(Mashed potatoes or yucca with cream sauce.)

True Peruvian food and cocktails. We only stopped in for lunch to watch the World Cup. Typically they’re not open as early. Their fries with sausage and dipping sauces was different, but very good. The sausage tasted more like a hot dog. Nice variety of draft beers and cocktails. My wife had the margarita which is served in a martini glass. Conveniently located across from the Lucille Lortel Theater.

Worst place ever, I went to many peruvian restaurants, currently peruvian cuisine having a great moment, this place should not be in business. Food was bad, taste, horrible presentation less than poor quality very bad, service(the worst) extremely price $ 18 for French fries(salchipapas) $ 25 baby back ribs(burn & tasteless) Anticuchos were gross and poorly presented, hamburger was burn too, pisco sour in small martini glass for $ 12 All together $ 154 plus 20% tip almost $ 200 for the most horrible food & service ever. How a restaurant can make a difference for special day like a graduation Nigth out, my two kids(9&12) literally expression was daddy the food is horrible. We bearly finish or touch the food, I ask for my bill pay it and walk away ASAP.

Soooooo… interesting. Seems like good, down home, genuine, nice people run this place. But they REALLY need to snatch up the disjointedness of the spot super ASAP. Everyone was really nice and sweet… but neither server knew what desserts they had ready(they were open… why wasn’t everything on the menu available?), and the computer system wasn’t activated. So, after 10 minutes of them not being able to produce a check, one of the kitchen women(maybe an owner?) just gave me a slightly lower cost than it would have been(without tax, which was cool), made change in the back, and asked me to forgive them, as I was their first customer after renovations, they were having hiccups getting things running again, and they’d give me free coffee next time. And she was so genuine and adorable that I plan to return next time I see a show at The Lortel. I also plan to return because their Passion Fruit Pisco Sour is PHENOMENAL!!! The chocolate cake was dense though moist, with homemade dulce de leche(though, note to restaurant: in this area, everyone may not appreciate the obvious homemade look to the sauce… might want to smooth it out a bit). The flavors were lovely, though! I’m intrigued to try other things on their menu, when I have time to sit, and am not afraid of missing a curtain time.

Although the food was good, I was disappointed by the limited menu and unusually high prices for dishes one can find elsewhere for half the price. We had 2 appetizers &2 drinks which came to $ 47. That being said, I wouldn’t come here without a voucher because there are simply too many other affordable options throughout NYC. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely don’t mind shelling out the big bucks for great food but my eyebrow is raised when it’s nothing special. Pros– Location & Chicken Causa(very well seasoned) Cons– High prices, limited menu, & the use of dish cloths for napkins(my initial one was dirty and the 2nd raggedy)

Saturday night, no wait, half the tables are empty. Nice music and vibe. Liquor, decent drink, slightly overpriced and not enough alcohol. Passed on appetizer. Entrees got the shredder chicken dish w yellow sauce was very blahzay And also got the seafood dish starts w a p… better but also not the best, suspicious that it both came out in under 3 minutes… suggests that it wasn’t fresh. As far as the speak of roaches from two years ago and 11 days ago… didn’t see any… didn’t go to the bathroom… but bc of the roaches comments couldn’t even attempt to enjoy the complimentary corn kernels that came w the meal at the beginning… will not come back.

The food is good, but the service is always painfully slow and inattentive. The last two times I was here with a couple of friends, there was an interval of 45 minutes between the time we had finished our appetizers and the time our main course was served. They also need to update their online menu. Several of the seafood items that still appear on the menu on their website are no longer offered. This is the only Peruvian restaurant I have found in New York City that has anticuchos on its menu; so that will keep bringing me back. The aji de pollo, the escaveche and the Jalea are good. Ahhhh… Unilocaling is such a cathartic experience when you’ve been singed by poor service! The food here was the saving grace or else this place would have received some scathing reviews for its service and misleading online menu.
