Les Petits Chapelais

Les Petits Chapelais is a wonderful store in SOHO. Nothing made in China, beautifully curated collection of items for children. My daughter wore many many items from the eponymous collection. The quality of the clothes and accessories is very high and I never felt like I paid too much for anything. Also, it is the BEST store for buying baby gifts… I really can’t say enough of this special store. And, the owner is French and love functional style and kids of her own, and really gets it.

They get two stars because I got great service from an associate. She went out of her way to show us many different options.
But when we had questions, the owner could not be bothered to help us. We inquired about numerous outfits, but the owner gave us the impression she did not think we were likely customers. She continued to fawn attention over another couple in the store that she seemed to know and told vacation stories. Ironically that couple only bought one sale item.
There were a few cute items, but a lot were rather plain and very expensive, even for what they were.

Les Petits Chapelais is my favorite store in Soho to buy clothing for my grandchildren!!! I love the clothes and the way the store is set up! Needless to say how charming the owner of the store is… Dominique is very personable and she always helps me choose the right outfits for my grandchildren!!! I love Les Petits Chapelais!!!

Les Petits Chapelais is a rare find in a sea of poorly made and uninspiring children’s clothing lines. Both a store and an eponymous clothing line, everything in the store is unique, child friendly, but stylish and beautifully made. My daughter’s style was defined by the fun, colorful and funky designers that I found there in addition to its own line. It’s the best place to shop for a baby gift or for a picky tween. Hands down the best children’s store in nyc. Great value for the price too!

Not quite sure what all the complaining is about, but this is a great store for childrens’ clothing that is very well curated by its owners in terms of selection and brands.
We have been coming here (as well as the old location) for about 3+ years now and at a certain point, our daughter will be too old to shop here, but in the meantime this is the place to get what seems to us like a differentiated selection — that is probably better for girls honestly versus boys, but then that is probably always going to be the case no matter what clothing store people go to. And our wallets are usually a lot lighter walking out of Les Petits Chapelais than we walked in and that is a testament to the owners in terms of the product and service.

Great kid’s clothes… Unable to buy, however because la vendeuse would not interrupt her lengthy french telephone conversation for customers.

I think this is a great store! It is a place where you can get great stuff for children, including high end and unique items. I think the New York Magazine review describes the clothing better than I ever could, so I will steal it: «The attractive cotton dresses and play clothes here are high-​end but not stuffy.»
I think this store is worth stopping at if you are in the area looking for something special for a special child in your life… you are sure to find something! I am glad to have it close by.

I love the store and the women who work there.
I live in California and was desperate to get my hands on two eyespy cashmere blankets which Les Petits Chapelais had. Come to find out they were literally the only ones left in the country. I spoke with Bronwen and Dominique and they were both so helpful and attentive. I live in California and they treated me as though I was a customer who was standing directly in front of them. They completed the transaction over the phone, shipped me the items immediately (with a sweet noted included inside) and were COMPLETE sweethearts (a TOTAL pleasure to deal with). On my next travels to NY I will stop by to purchase more of their amazing baby items.

This store has great stuff but… the salesperson was shouting on the phone in French for about ten minutes while I was shopping and trying to get help with some items in the store. Finally, questions unanswered, I was standing at the counter waiting to buy a pair of children’s shoes when she finished her conversation, hung up the phone, looked at me and then the phone began to ring, and she picked it up and began carrying on shouting again. Needless to say I left all the things I had picked out on the counter and went out the door. Crazy!
