Le Souk Restaurant

Food was good but we sat over 2 ½ hours for a two course meal and had to leave before dessert showed up. Service is way too slow.

Great ambiance-​however the food is horrible and the service is poor. Disappointing, It would be a great place if they were the least bit organized.

without a doubt one of my favorite restaurants, great atmosphere with a traditional exquisite menu, the best Lamb of New York and also my favorite dish the Poisson Grille, it’s like to feel you’re in Morocco in the beautiful streets of new york, I recommend 1,000,000%. I hope you guys come and enjoy fine cuisine and one of the best services that New York can provide restaurant-​level

I’m giving this place 3 stars because the atmosphere, food and drinks are really good. Other than that, not a great experience at the bar (the restaurant part was fine). My boyfriend bought a Stella Artois and the bartender told him it was $ 8. He gave him a $ 20 bill and only got $ 4 back… this means, the bartender either is really bad at math, or just took the tip out for himself. My boyfriend would have tipped anyway but maybe not $ 5. Either way, it should have been up to him to decide that, not the bartender. He let it go and didn’t make an issue out of it though. Then a bit later, a friend orders the same thing with a different bartender and that guy told him it was $ 7! And keep in mind, there are no prices for beer listed anywhere; you have to ask them. So apparently they can make up prices and take tips for themselves as they please. Needless to say, that was the last drink we ordered there.
Later in the evening, we moved over to a table near the dance floor. My friend realized he dropped $ 100 in cash somewhere and it was now nowhere to be found. Shortly before this, another guy at the table next to us was telling the waitress that his phone was just stolen. So now theft has become a very big problem at this place. I’m not trying to say the staff did either of these things, but apparently your money and possessions are not safe here.
Like I said, despite all this, I’m being generous and giving them 3 stars because the food, drinks, and atmosphere are great. But, I probably won’t be back because it’s way WAY too expensive and the experience at the bar was really not cool.

Went here for a friend’s birthday party on a Saturday night and was pretty pumped for some good food, hookah, and music. Party hadn’t arrived yet so we went upstairs to wait at the bar. My friend ordered a beer and they overcharged him by $ 3, that’s the way the night started.
Knew the prices here were high, so kept that in mind before ordering. Waitress only gave us the prix fixe menu, when the birthday boy mentioned he explicitly said he had not wanted the prix fixe — she insisted that it was the best option — who the hell cares, we don’t want it. Finally got the regular menu and ordered the fish sandwich ($ 16). Decent sandwich, a little on the salty side, especially when it comes with chips, but filling enough for the night. The free bread starter that comes first is actually solid and the best part of the meal.
The birthday boy also booked a table for the night ($ 500 vodka bottle service. Waitresses came with the bottle and 2 sparklers). As they came with our drinks, one of the waitresses (who I think was just a friend of the bar, and doesn’t actually work there), poured herself a drink and left. Not cool. Hookah was solid, not too harsh and they kept the coals coming.
The saving graces for this place: the music is bopping, and the belly dancer was awesome. Otherwise will pass on going to this spot again.

i used to come here when I would be visiting NYC while under 21 haha. The food was really good. They have hookah and people dancing on tables at night. We always had bottle service which was great. The crowd wasn’t that great, though.

Came for a friends bday. Ambience was decent, and the mojitos hookah was on point; since we had a party of over 6, they gave us a course menu that didn’t have a lot of options. I went with Calamaris and they came out pretty cold, but it was good, wish it was warmer though.
What had me upset was the servers, they messed up my drink order and they take forever to get things done, food also took very long.
Will I come back? Yes, only for the hookah.

A friend wanted to come here to celebrate her birthday, I had no heard of the place and didn’t even know where I was going but got in the car and took the drive. It was a relatively group of mostly females so it wasn’t an issue getting in. I couldn’t exactly notice the ambiance because we all drank a lot prior to arrival, I just remember going upstairs where it was relatively crowded it was almost midnight. Had a table, they brought out two or three hookahs (not my thing) and some bottle service. It was hard to move around due to the crowding, but made the best of it. I guess the place is decent, but I doubt I would return. I only came because it was a friends birthday.

I would rather swim in the east river than ever go back to le souk. Where do I start?
1– it is absurdly overpriced. $ 500 for a bottle of Smirnoff? Whatever it’s NYC ok cool it is what it is. However I expect that when I pay that kind of money for shit alcohol and sugar water mixers I at least will be treated like a human. NOT SO!
2– The servers, bar backs, etc here are the rudest most classless people I’ve ever encountered. I had at least 5 drinks spilled on me (by the waiters not by my friends) and the waitstaff mopped over my feet multiple times. I get it you’re trying to keep a place clean where spilling drinks is the norm but at least say excuse me. And on top of their general classlessness they very clearly preferred guests of one race over another. I didn’t pay $ 500 to be pushed to the side because of the color of my skin. On top of the general lack of class or respect for other humans, after I complained about getting pushed to the side after paying $ 500 for a 5^th of Smirnoff I was threatened by the bouncer. For looking at him! Lurch should seriously be fired.
3– the space. Seriously? There are about a million bar/​lounges in Manhattan. This one is basic at best. If you want to get elbowed/​humped all night this is the place for you. Otherwise steer clear.
Seriously, this place should be shut down and all of its employees never allowed to work in the service industry again. I’ve never felt so violated and robbed at the same time.

Came here for a birthday celebration and I have never experienced a service so SLOW that it made me want to leave without paying the check. Food is average I have had better Moroccan food before.

Getting a table. Server sets up the table. Very fancy.
Forks, knifes, plates, napkins. Perfect.
Then he comes tells us that kitchen is closed.
Anyways, we tell each other that food downstairs in Sabrett Masallah must be better than here.
We are begging for menus, waiting half an hour for menus. He comes brings just one menu for table for 7. We ask for more menu. He says sorry we dont have enough menu.
Anyways it takes another half an hour to get the waters that we asked for.
Server comes sit in our table and clear the plates and silverware with us. I wasn’t expecting any other company honestly what a surprise (!)
We cant find the waiter he is gone so hard to find him.
But Subhanallah when check is received our waiter is waiting in my face. Thinking that he will get shit from us.
Too bad service.

Loved being able to smoke a hookah on a warm summer evening and people watch in NYC. I ordered the hookah before my dinner arrived — the lamb shank — Lord Lord did that thing fall off of the bone. Was it even on the bone? My waiter Karim was amazing. He turned out to be Egyptian and I engaged him in conversation and creates documentaries — notably one on the middle east revolution. He was an excellent waiter too. Great hookah — check, Great Ambiance — check, Great Lamb Shank — check, Great Service — check. Than

My boyfriend made reservations for 11:30… We were running a little late but called to let them know and they said it’s fine. As soon as we get to the front of the restaurant and informed the woman that we had reservations, she said «Sorry but bottle service only». My boyfriend tried to explain that he just called regarding our reservations… But the woman decided to be rude and cut him off mid sentence then proceeded to repeat the same thing. Instead of going back and forth with her, we decided to take a step back and regroup our thoughts (finally the anger management classes are paying off)… So, he re-​dialed the number and a different woman came out who was sweet and directed us to our table. Clearly, the woman at the front was trying to make her quota. It sucks because we did consider the bottle service but because of her nasty attitude, we decided against it.
The mint hookah was good and lasted us while we were there. We also had the mint cocktails: Delicious. The wings weren’t the best but the calamari and crab cake were good. Overall service was pretty good as well.
My boyfriend and I would have given the establishment more stars but because of the woman at the front, we gave it only two. I would recommend having a more friendly person at the door because that sets the mood for your guests. Had we decided to walk away, it would have been a customer lost due to a nasty attitude.

Made a reservation for me & my girlfriend on a Friday night for 11:45. For us girls there was no cover charge or wait in line. We were also given a table without bottle service requirements! We enjoyed the regular hookah for $ 25 guava & grape mixed together was amazing! Our coals were chanted for free when needed. I ordered hummus as an appetizer and it came with warm bread. The food was delicious. The décor was changed from the last time I came and it looked really nice. It has a middle eastern vibe but very upscale with high ceiling and huge bar racked up with hookahs along aside it. It got packed towards 2am. The music was popping and the lighting gave it a club atmosphere. The bathrooms were the only downfall. Huge lines and very very small, I felt claustrophobic being in it. Also the mojito I had wasn’t strong at all. I had requested a mint cocktail but they were out of it. This Rose cocktail I got which was a champagne mixed with some shot was amazing. It smelt like a rose! I always recommend going to this 2 story lounge, it is the best hookah spot in NY. But on the expensive side

I purchased a deal from leaving social. It was worth every penny. It was a four course meal with this wonderful never ending jug of sangria. I had a great time and the food was amazing

Living in New York for as long as I have, you tend to look for places that still have the NYC charm, or the places that actually matter. These days, they are very hard to find. Le Souk is one of the last places in the city that has everything all New Yorkers are looking for. Sexy ambience, good looking people, great music, drinks that are poured properly, and amazing hospitality. If you want to be a part of all that is happening in the city, and want to be in an old school amazing place, then make an effort to come here. You won’t be sorry.

Place is weirdly decorated but the food is pretty awesome!!! The music gets better as the night goes on and the dancers are pretty good too.
