Options are very limited here. There are a few variations of cinnamon rolls, croissants and coffee cakes, but in general the place is quite simple. A few cakes, cheesecakes and cupcakes are also available, all to relevant prices. I wouldn’t sit in to eat here, but if you’re nearby and crave something sweet, it’s okey. My cinnamon roll was freshly baked and gets a 3⁄5.

This little French bakery is unbelievable! It seems to appear out of no where since little to nothing is in the area, however it is worth the trek from the 1106 train stop. Great French bread, real honest to god pastries that melt in your mouth, great prices, love the coffee and they also have lunches to go that look unreal — croque monsieur anyone? I have had a variety of their croissants and they remind me of real French food. So good. Also my girlfriend saw some of their stuff downtown in SOHO so yeah. If that kind of thing makes a difference for you, it gives them some sort of cred. But really they are amazing and to live nearby them is a blessing. The only reason I took off a star has NOTHING to do with the food. I just like wifi and wish there was wifi there so I could hang for hours and hours and eat delicious food while doing work.

Sweet dreams are made of la Tropezienne Bakery. They literally make the BEST strawberry shortcake on the planet!!! I kid you not! The desserts are perfectly made fresh everyday and very refined. This is what a TRUE french bakery is.

Another gem in east harlem — I love watching taxi drivers who are in the know and local residents come here knowing exactly what they want. This place is busy and for good reason — everything baked fresh(from desserts to breakfast pastries to their delicious and oh-so-flaky baguettes).

These four and five star reviews here must be from folks who’s only other bakery experience is Dunkin Donuts! The food in this spot is ok! I might even say its good! But there are a lot of very good bakeries in area, with staff that actually knows what they are doing and care about their jobs. This spot, not so much! I live close by, so for the sake of convenience, I feel compelled to stop in once in a while and it’s usually pretty frustrating. The service is ALWAYS slow. The expressionless faces of the people behind the counter project that, «I wish I was home watching Jerry Springer«attitude. The coffee is just passable, but not good. Any bodega has equally as good coffee. However, the pastries are good! I would come here a lot more often if they an upbeat friendly staff with a bit of energy and better coffee!

This is one of my favorite spots. It’s always full of customers, the staff is very friendly and professional and their price is very fair! They have amazing breads, my favorite is the cheese bread with garlic or bacon filling… Their Apple turnovers are very amazing as well. I guess there is not one thing that I had tried that isnt good. And another of favorites is the almond danish… incredible and tasty. Be aware that sometimes you will stay in line for a little bit and the place is very small, but it is very worthy!

A nice surprise in a neighborhood that needs some much needed quality-baked goods. I came here based on word of mouth recommendation from a fellow coworker who plainly stated that this place has the best pastries in all of New York City. Quite a bold statement considering NYC offers some of the most diverse food selections in the world. However, based on my small sampling at La Tropazienne, the advice held water. I ordered various Panini to try and though they took some time to prepare, were fresh and made perfectly. Various options include fruit tarts, sandwiches, quiches, fresh baked breads, and baked goods. The place itself is very small(barely fits 5 tables) and a step above«hole-in-the-wall» status. Its small size makes it a bit challenging to maneuver to order your food. That’s about the only negative thing I can say about this place. Everything else is truly wonderful about this spot.

I must have drove past this bakery a million times and never noticed it until a friend put me on. Why this place is hidden is a mystery to me, but now I can unequivocally say I’ve eaten the most amazing Apple Turnover and Strawberry Croissant ever. Tropezienne is a small low-key bakery that bakes all their goods on site and its reflective in the taste. My Apple Turnover and Strawberry Crossaint were super fresh, and the crust on both were soft and flakey. The fruit inside was just the right amount of sweet with the perfect ratio of fruit to crust… it’s just really good stuff. Please do yourself a favor and make it here. I most certainly will be back to try their bread and other pastries. Tropezienne is a 5 Star Bakery fa sure!

A friend and I went for Saturday morning coffee and pastries. Good iced coffee and the almond croissant was one of the best I’ve had recently. Unfortunately, they were out of chocolate croissants. I also had a Napolean. It was good, but not absolutely the best I’ve had. I can’t wait to come back here! 4.5 stars!

So they get two thumbs up for making a custom cake for my 4 year old birthday party. Loved it and most of all the cake is DELICIOUS! they just need at least a week’s notice.

La Tropezienne is really no frills and you can literally walk or drive right by it and not notice you may have just passed by one of the better bakeries in NYC. I was in the vicinity and could not resist the lure of a fresh pastry. — Almond Turc was awesome and lived up to the many other Unilocal review compliments; really buttery rich and with a nice semi-sweet egg custard center. The crisp outer flaky crust was exceptional as was the crunchy texture of the fresh sliced almonds. TIP: Eat the Almond Turc as soon as you can get pretty soft if not eaten right away. I only ate ¼ of the Turc right after buying it(choosing to eat the remainder over the course of the two following days) and the pastry became a bit soft. A few minutes in the toaster oven helped, but the Turc never got to the same level of crispness as when it was fresh. — The Cream Cheese Danish was a delightful pastry. The cream cheese was surprisingly light but still had a nice richness and a hint of sweetness. The bun portion of the Danish had a nice sweet glaze and also had a nice buttery texture /richness. — Egg Custard Brioche was interesting as it really swung toward the savory side of the spectrum IMO. It’s clear La Tropezienne has the science of baking down pretty well(as like the preceding two pastries I mentioned above, the bun was über rich and cooked perfectly). The custard was really eggy tasting; and I noticed it being less sweet than the custard found in the Almond Turc. A pleasant savory surprise in comparison to the Almond Turc and Danish. Overall, La Tropezienne showed to produce some pretty delicious French style pastries, and one would think you just frequented some midtown fancy bakery as opposed to on in East Harlem(not exactly a hotbed of French pastries).

A cute, warm, and absolutely delicious bakery nestled on 1st ave in East Harlem. What a great find! They have an extensive selection or desserts, pastries, cakes, breads, salads, sandwiches, and coffee! My favorites are the fruit tart and almond turc. Fruit tart is so colorful and tasty. The almond turc is amazing! Basically a huge almond pastry with powdered sugar and deliciousness. Give this place a try! You won’t regret it!

I had to add a star to this review. This bakery is really special. The pastries are great, the coffee is delicious and the staff is super friendly. We love the eclairs and the croissants. My daughters love the madeleines and cookies. We make a point of coming here when we have to pick up our car or go to Target. Go early because the line could be out the door!

I’ve been going here for ages. They have nice almond croissants and pastries, but my favorite is crème brûlée, unfortunately the crème brûlée here is terrible! You would think a French place would have the best but they didn’t even burn the top! I guess they need to do a better job training their staff. I don’t like the coffee or cookies here either but the hot chocolate is good. They are working on a né menu cause all the prices have changed.
