What a cute little place. I loved sitting in the garden area where the giant lamps are. It’s cute and still warm in the winter. The ambiance gives the feel of being in a cozy hidden garden. Tables and space are a bit small. We sat 8 people around 2 little round garden tables. The menu was extensive but in mostly pizzas. I was surprised that there was no pasta(unless you consider lasagne as pasta, for which they had 4 different types). I had the lasagne bologneses and it was quite tasty. Lots of melted cheese on top and a good meaty sauce. Other people at our table had the pesto lasagne and there were no complaints. The rest of the table ordered different types of pizza. I had a slice with the sweet sausage and it was alright. Nothing too special in my opinion. Ended the meal with a scoop of the chocolate hazelnut gelato which was delicious. It was creamy with little pieces of hazelnuts. A good amount of cholate-y-ness without being overly sweet/sugary.

A real cozy and delicate dessert place. This is definitely a perfect café that u and ur friend can spend on a Saturday night when you don’t feel like dancing and drinking, but prefer just to chill and take a sip.

Great food, especially the lasagna, but not a place for a relaxing quiet meal. Service was decent, but a bit chaotic, loud, and no bread. They seem to have a quick turnover on tables so no reservation is okay on a Saturday night. Although, there was no hostess or waiting area/bar so it was literally a free for all to who can get the restaurant employee’s attention first… who doesn’t take names for those willing to wait?! I would have given 3 stars but the quality of food is more important to me than the service.

A beautiful space, especially if you can reserve a table in the solarium, but the food is meh. Not much of a menu, especially for Italian. Basically just pizza and lasagna. I had a pesto lasagna that was pretty medicore. I’m sure there are other things on this menu that are better, but I have no reason to return.

Beautiful spot with secret garden out back with waterfalls and huge pendulous lanterns. Very fairy garden feel so good for dates. I had a delicious cappuccino. This was one of the spots on a murder mystery tour for my sisters birthday. I want to go back to try some of their other treats since it made such great impression.

This is my new favorite restaurant. The design is absolutely beautiful and gives off a very romantic atmosphere. I can with my boyfriend and completely fell in love with the place. The raspberry crumb cheesecake is the best food on the menu. I was very full from the pizza I ate, but it is still a must have, no matter how full you are. This is definitely one of my new favorite spots in the city and I am visiting every time I come back. The lanterns and glowing waterfall/fireplaces is something I’m looking forward to seeing again soon.

This place is the perfect date spot! When you first walk inside, it looks cramped and small but they have a beautiful garden room in the back with giant lanterns as your source of light. My boyfriend and I ordered bruschetta as our appetizer and it has roasted peppers and cheese– I really wish I could remember which type of cheese they used but it was delicious! As our entrée, I went with reviews and got the lasagna bolognese and it was SOGOOD. My boyfriend got the lasagna quattro formaggio. However, I wish the portions were a little bigger. Nevertheless, it was still amazing. For dessert, i got the tiramisu and he got the custard with dulce de leche gelato. My tiramisu was perfect, and I tried his custard and I thought it could’ve been a little sweeter. This place doesn’t take reservations for just two people but if you come at the right time(before 7pm or after 8:30ish) you’ll be seated in no time! You might have to wait a little to be seated in the lantern room, but I think it’s worth the wait.

Every time my parents are visiting from Paris, my mother comes with a list of restaurants task to complete during their visit. Well sometimes I have difficulties to make clear to my lovely American wife that French build their lives around food, especially when they travel. The most interesting is that I have no clue how she makes her list, because most of the time I have never heard of any of her hot tips, despite that I have been living in NYC now for over 6 years. So when we arrived at La Lanterna. we were thrilled by the décor and the easy cozy and delightful atmosphere they made out of it. The opened kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant so you can easily follow the fresh processing of your order. The patio is a dream within a dream, having the chance to seat protected outside in December with our little son was indeed already reason enough to love the place. And then came the food. I have spent many times in Italy in different region and I really love Italian cuisine, as long as the products are perfect and it is kept simple(so It means no special addition to make the dish fancier, and destroy the whole concept at the end). And It is exactly what we found at La Lanterna. Exceptional products, authentic easy Italian food. The pizza was even better than our previous favorite at Keste pizza y vino(but I have to say surely not New York pizza style). Cold cuts and salads outstanding, we finished by sharing all the food with the whole family that everybody could enjoy. Desserts have been tested and approved by our little wonder Maxime. The wine list is perfectly balanced from a selection and price point of view. It is the perfect venue for a romantic evening, an easy lunch and a great Italian experience in Manhattan. Was this review???

A friend and I came here for dinner without a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated within 10 minutes. Their wine and liquor menu is very extensive and includes some real gems that I was surprised to see. The server offered us plenty of time to look through the menus and checked in consistently and pleasantly. There were a few vegetarian options and without me mentioning I do not eat meat, the server named a few dishes that could easily be made without meat. I chose the Mozzarella Pomodoro E Basilico panini on focaccia which was absolutely delicious. Along with the salad it was served with, the dish was a perfect portion. My friend ordered the Lasagna Bolognese which was served in an adorable personal cast-iron pan. He really enjoyed the dish and was just able to finish before tapping out. We really enjoyed the Barbera wine but the glassware wasn’t a proper size /shape and looked quite cheap. I know this place isn’t renowned as a wine bar but I would expect a closer attention to detail in a restaurant with such a lovely ambiance. We were sitting on the main floor and the noise level was quite loud but these two critiques would not stop me from coming back again.

On our last day of NY, we decided to finish off the trip with a visit to this gem. It’s a cute little café that has an indoor garden! Haven’t seen anything like it! Our waitress and waiter were really sweet and accommodating, allowing us to sit anywhere we wanted and helped us decide what to get All of the reviews mentioning how great the lasagna was 100% accurate. We(3 people) bought 2 lasagnas(the bolognese and the one with multiple cheese) and it filled us up instantly! I also recommend buying the Basket of Focaccia Crisps to eat with extra cheese/sauce :)

Date spot! Everything about this place oozes romance: the décor, live band, dim lights, candles and mini waterfall in the backyard. The place may look tiny but there’s plenty of room in the back, downstairs and in the corner. The waiters are really good at giving you space(must be cuz of all the couples that come here) and they swing by only when you need them. My friends and I sat here eating and talking for a good 2 hours without being disturbed! Started off with a salad(arugula tossed in lemon honey mustard dressing with shavings of Parmesan) that was SO expensive. Those shavings of cheese better have been from an organically aged farm in Italy and the arugula from their freakin backyard cuz you better your bottom dollar I’m not spending that much for a salad like that again. Got speck pizza and it was def thin crusted like they said on the menu. The pizza was my highlight. Thin and chewy with enough sauce and yummy toppings. The expected more from the pesto lasagna. I guess I hyped myself up for it because of all the other reviews. It was good but I don’t know if it was amazing. I thought it needed a little more salt so def ask for sprinkles of Parmesan when the waiter comes around. I’ll probably come back with a date in 10 years. Or my girl friends in the next few months.

This place has good Italian food for affordable prices. I would definitely come back because it’s a solid place for a satisfying meal. Seating is good for casual eating, or looking for a cute low key date. They also have additional seating in the back. My only wish for this restaurant is more comfy chairs

A very nice Italian café that my boyfriend introduced me to on one of our trips to NYC. First entering the restaurant I thought it was simply a coffee shop, but then I learned it served a variety of comforting Italian dishes as well. Since me and my boyfriend just got drinks there, I decided to sit towards the front of the store by a window. The place was romantically dimmed, so I thought a little natural light would be refreshing. If only I knew there was the garden area in the back, I would’ve chosen to sit there instead– definitely next time! For my beverage I got the hot chocolate with whipped cream and it was sooo good! Although on the menu it stated«unsweetened», the whipped cream on top was sweet enough to balance and harmonize everything. Note: I took a majority of the whipped cream off since I preferred a stronger cocoa taste. My boyfriend got the iced cappuccino and it was excellent as well. I can’t wait to get hot chocolate from there again! Seriously, that drink hits the spot on a cold chilly day.

This is, the ultimate date night spot. Dim lighting? Check. Faux garden area with fountains? Check. Live music? Yep. This place is amazing. I avoid sitting out front by the entrance as it’s a bit busier but the basement and the outdoor areas are beautiful. It kind of feels like you set it up in your own house. Just kidding, my house doesn’t even come close but la lanterna has this naturally homey/romantic atmosphere to it. A huge plus in my book And the food? It’s fantastic. Pizzas, lasagnas, and god, that tiramisu. Looooots of wine. I’ve always had a good time here. Fantastic service, very helpful and friendly. I can’t wait for my next visit

We went for a girl’s night, but this would be a great date spot. If you eat in the back there are the most amazing lanterns and at night they look so magical. Apps: Pomodoro e Basilico Bruschetta was delicious and I could recreate at home. Main: Pizza con Salsiccia with lamb was so amazing enough for 2 people. Service was great and I would definitely recommend to friends and come back.

Was here for date night this past saturday! Holy crap its crowded. Line outside and everything. Oddly, enough we were able to get seats but not inside the beautiful garden spot. We were in front of the restaurant, but still nice. One thing I didnt like was that its so crowded. Tables are so close you can hear other people’s conversation. Anyways, on to the experience. Waiter was awesome! Didnt catch his name. Was tall, and had beard. His recommendations were great. Had the caprese salad. Good but average. Mushroom pizza and tiramisu. Pizza was delicious and flavorful. Just enough for two. Dessert was homemade, and a hit. We were little too full for lasagna. But a must try next time. Overall, very beautiful spot. Gonna try and get inside next time. Great service, we were always taken care of. And very affordable. A must try;)

We first walked in and asked to be seated inside the garden and the waiter said there were no seats available. As were making up our minds, he walked away. Another waiter came by and asked us if he could help, we again said we wanted to sit in the garden, and he led us right through. There were a lot of seats available. What’s up with that? Initial bad service aside, I feel this restaurant is a bit gimmicky. The tables and chairs are extremely tiny and uncomfortable. The garden isn’t even outside, but is more of a greenhouse. And the prices are quite expensive. My friend and I split a panini and pizza, which I totally would recommend. If I were to rate this restaurant solely based on the food, I’d give it 5 stars. But if you’re coming here for the ambiance– don’t get your hopes up. The greenhouse is very very tiny, and quite disappointing in my opinion.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants. The garden in the back is beautiful and perfect for dates. I would recommend the pizza. There are soo many options, and the portions are huge. I’ve enjoyed every pizza I’ve had here. However, they don’t serve pasta, but they have a couple of really good lasagna options. For dessert I would recommend the raspberry cheesecake. Excellent food. The wine here is pretty cheap starting at around $ 24 for an entire bottle! Perfect Italian meal. Good vibes.

I loved this place! My husband and I were looking for something to eat and Greenwich and due to positive Unilocal reviews, we came here! The food was good, service was good and prices were good. A glass of wine for $ 8.50! I had the meat lasagne and my husband had quiche with salad. We both really enjoyed our meal. The menu is many pages long so there is bound to be something for everyone. The desserts were out on display and looked really good, but we decided to go for a walk and pick up our dessert elsewhere. I can’t wait to return here, I’m looking at returning on one of their psychic evenings. Next time I will try their desserts! We sat inside, next to the window to the outdoor patio section, which looked really nice.

Great place for Romantic dinner. Have a sit in the Winter Garden or enjoy a cosy dinner by the fireplace. They also have a nice bar downstairs with jazz groups. This place is great for Italian coffees and desserts. The beef carpaccio was delicious and the portions are very generous. I also recommend the prosciutto plate and the tiramisu that you can buy buy the pie. Pasta fans, this is not a place for you but the lasagnas look very good! Enjoy!
