I would not expect true korean food taste(for that I’d go to Fort Lee). However, the meal here was incredibly disappointing and I left feeling dissatisfied with the delivery. If it you told me this place is not just instant/frozen Korean food you can get at HMart, but sold at a premium, I would not believe you.

This is an amazing restaurant for connoisseurs of bad Korean food. If you love bland, flavour-less, fake Korean food, don’t go anywhere else!

I really like this place. It’s conveniently located to my job and I grab lunch from here often. They have a separate menu that shows gluten free and veggie options. I have Celiac and this is one of my safe places. Sometimes even if I order gluten free menu items from other restaurants, I get sick. Never gotten sick from here though. I can’t speak about their meat dishes because I don’t eat that, but I’ve enjoyed all the vegan options. I think my favorites are Kimball, japchae and the fried tofu.

It’s asian FUSION. Of course you cannot get authentic food there. But the taste still really disappointed. My friend said it a place for those undergrads who don’t know how to get food.

Along with a great menu and solid service, this is the little restaurant that could. KuKu was among the few businesses to stay open in the days right after Superstorm Sandy(no power? no problem)! After a brief closure in 2014, the Canteen is back and better than ever. A valuable part of our neighborhood!

Tasty and inexpensive Korean food. I’ve been going to KuKu canteen for just under a year and have never left disappointed. The Bulgogi is delicious! Just make sure that you really like spicy food when you ask for a dish with a little chili by it, they don’t kid around.

This place serves food way too slow. Plus, the food is pretty bland and is not authentic what so ever

I live in the neighborhood and kuku is my absolute go-to for the hungry value seeking dinner of my needs. Post-gym and when the hanger is setting in, I zip over to grab a bibimbap and am transported into a happy place(with extra chili sauce).

They just added jap chae to the menu! I like it! A lot of vegetables too, which made me feel slightly healthier(tho it is still carbs lol)

Most convenient and Asian-favored canteen near me! Portion is not enough but food is good, even for every other day

Really great Asian fusion food. I’ve tried most things on the menu but um obsessed with the kimchi fried rice. The employees are super friendly too!

I keep going back to give them another chance and keep wondering why. The kimchi fried rice is passable, but everything else is disappointing, and you can get better(and cheaper) kimchi fried rice at M2M just around the corner anyway. It’s clear that this is Korean food for white people who don’t know better: they use prepackaged shin ramyun, no one who works there is even Asian let alone Korean, once I had a server who didn’t know what gochujang was, the soondubu jjigae was super bland and not even spicy, the list goes on…

One word: bland. Ordered the chicken udon noodle soup, which came out in a very murky broth with maybe ¼ noodles ¼ Chicken and a few pieces of seaweed. No texture, flavor or scent. It was as if someone from the Middle Ages made my lunch in some sad hut with an aged, stringy chicken and some dirt sprinkled in. Don’t waste your money or time — go to M2M.

OMG the Kimchee stew(Jjigae) here is so freaking delicious ! I mostly order online at work. I have never been to the actual resturaunt. Delivery is pretty fast and the menu is reasonably priced. It’s a simple twist on Korean I’m not sure if it’s Korean owned because some of the dishes are not so authentic but always very supa delish! Check it out yummmmmmmmieeeeeee!

I stop in for a quick but generous bowl of hot miso soup(with side of brown rice) before class — doesn’t break the bank, and its served with a smile.

Don’t go there if you are a Korean or Asian! The food is terrible and I have completely no idea why there are so many good reviews under this store. The ramen retails for 8 dollars and up, but the even the 2 dollar Nongshim noodle taste much better. And the first time I go there the waitress take my ramen as Bimbibop, which taste fine but not outstanding. I strongly suggest anyone who want to have Korean food go to the M2M around the corner at it tastes more like authentic Korean food:). I will never go back again. The ramen is a disaster.

Wanted so much to like this place since it’s close to where I just moved. But my order was terrible! I got the veggie curry and it was tasteless! Rice was gluey and I just ended up throwing most of it out. So disappointed.

Ordered the Lunchbox and Mini Chicken Bibimbop. Lunchbox — dumplings were ok. But the cold buckwheat noodle steak salad was inedible. First the steak was so chewy that it just wouldn’t break down in my mouth. I tried 3 pieces and had to spit all 3 out. Then the noodles had nothing on them. No sauce. Just plain noodles that were beyond bland. Mini Chicken Bipimbob is not Bipimbob. Pieces of chicken sit on top of rice once again with no sauce. Bland bland bland.

Had the lunch special: pork bibimbop with steamed pork dumplings and pan fried tofu. Because it was in lunch, the line was a bit disorganized. It’s a small place with some seating, but if you’re in a group more than 3, you should order take out. You order at the cash register and then they make the food for you. So you have to go past the food line to order(which is a bit confusing because usually you want to order as soon as you get into a restaurant). The food itself was mediocre; I used a lot of sriracha to add kick to the bibimpbop; usually the red sauce that comes with bibimbop should suffice, but it did not. I would say that this is fairly affordable for the Washington Square area. The place does accept card, and my meal was only $ 9.99.
