I must say, I am in love with Jil Sander. The minimalist style combined with their amazing cuts, just spell out a winning solution. This store in SoHo is no exception to the minimal style that this brand exudes. The store itself is split into two floors, with the men’s apparel upstairs. Once you enter, you’ll be greeted with their latest runway collection. For me, I just make my way to the stairs and head upstairs. From an aesthetics perspective, even how the clothes is set up around the store is simple and clean. Nothing is overwhelming crowded, leading to me having a better shopping experience in the end. As far as service here goes, it is top notch. Then again, if you’re dropping $ 3000 on a coat, I’d only expect to receive amazing service. Nonetheless, I stopped on by here looking for a new winter coat. I was teetering between two different styles, and thankfully I was taken care of here. The folks who work here will take attention to detail in explaining every single aspect of the piece that you’re interested in. From the fabric, to the mindset in crafting each piece, I guess you get a nice sense of how things are put together. Aside from the storytelling, I was able to get sized up for my coat, and set forth on my way, extremely happy with my purchase. On my next purchase, Ellen helped me out once again. Hands down, she is an amazing sales associate. She helped me pick out another grey suit for work($ 1900), and set me on my way. Sure, for a minimalist look, you don’t necessarily have to go to Jil Sander and pay their extravagant price points. It does take some mental debate to rationalize spending $ 3000 on a coat/suit. Even so, the crafting that goes into each piece, sets themselves apart from everyone in the crowd. With their amazing coats and suits, you won’t necessarily stand out from a sheer flashy perspective, but you’ll look damn amazing in the process.

AMAZING clothes and store(obviously), really great staff, and repairs are SOSO quick. I got a bag repaired and it literally was in my hands a week later looking good as new.

Beautiful store, nice collection with a helpful staff. The collection was always for an older woman so it is not really for me, but I can appreciate the design and quality. Fashion-friends tell me that it is nothing compared to when Jil herself was there, but it is still a nice collection. Oddly placed in a strange part of the city for luxury retail stores. It seems that someone is trying to create the next hot area, but it doesn’t look promising.

The nineties was an amazing time: John Galliano’s trashmazing takeover of Dior; Marc Jacobs grunge for Perry Ellis; and let’s not forget the majorness of Gianni Versace’s opulent chic. Amidst all the glitz and tack was a beacon of serene light in the form of Jil Sander. While I can appreciate the envelope pushing aesthetics of aforementioned designers, my personal preference is for the stark and smart minimalism from the likes of Jil Sander. In my bid to become a better person, I feel that it is my duty, nay, my calling, to spread the good gospel of a Jil Sander suit for men. Get thee one and you will slay more women [or men, if that is your inclination] than you can imagine. With Jil gone from the world of design [eh, uniqlo], Raf Simons has done an amazing job under the Sander name. Season after season, the genius of subtle play on silhouette and texture trumps all other gimmicky new trend. SOGOOD. While I can only afford to scoop up Jil at Barney’s Warehouse sale at like 80% off at the moment, I assure you, my first suit out of law school will be a Jil Sander. And with any luck, I will even be able to splurge on things like fuscia silk suits for the summer. Just because it’s so good. The space on Howard is major. The feeling I get when entering the store makes me believe that people really catch the holy ghost in church. The mirror wall covering the staircase to the second floor is perfection.

This Jil Sander space is gorgeous and a definite must-see. Items are displayed on racks in a manner that does the minimalist aesthetic of the house justice(what a sharp contrast to Opening Ceremony across the street!) Staff are friendly but not overly so, and always have honest and professional advice for you. Highly recommended!

This beautifully designed space on the corner of Howard and Crosby just opened last week. I’ll post a couple photos from the opening party very soon.
