Disclosure: I had a complementary cut from Unilocal but that in no way affects my review for the experience and service I received here. And that experience was a solid one– my barber Jeff was very professional. He explained everything he was doing and was very communicative throughout the process. He also gave some tips for styling. The hair wash sink/chair is pretty sweet, its a built in massage chair and it was glorious! I would highly recommend if 75 $ cuts pre tip is in your budget.

I’m a sucker for a good facial, and JF Men certainly delivers. A spin off of the Julien Farel spa located on the second floor of the Lowes Regency Hotel, JF Men specializes in spa services fitting the needs of men. From trims to waxes to facials, everything is focused on making sure humans carrying the XY chromosome have a comfortable experience. Stefana was my esthetician and she was fantastic. Heated massage table, soothing music, hot tea an arm’s reach away, and a nice guide to what was happening throughout the different steps of revitalizing my face. She even went as far as putting a seaweed mask on my beard to hydrate the skin under the furry portion of my face. Despite finding seaweed mask remnants in my beard hair for a couple days after the procedure, it did the trick to eliminate a lot of the dry skin located around the follicles. Anyone with a beard can relate; that wiry hair can zap your chin and cheeks of moisture. This was a nice respite from the itchy norm. You can certainly find a cheaper facial in parts of Manhattan(Chinatown), but you’re opening up a can of worms you might regret. If you want to ensure a quality spa experience without worrying if you’ll break out days later, give JF Men a shot.

**The review below is for a massage experience in August 2015. I have yet to try their hair or other services. ** Behind the Loews Hotel front desk, there is a quaint, cozy yet modern and spacious men’s salon called JF Men. The smaller brother of the renowned Julien Farel Salon & Spa upstairs, this space was designed for men in mind. While many services are offered, I elected for the 75 minute massage. From the moment I checked in to the time I left, the experience was spectacular. The massage itself takes place upstairs on the 2nd floor in the main Julien Farel area as that’s where the spa is housed. And quite honestly, I think I had the best massage of my lifetime. I showed up a bit early, and after checking in with the very hospitable team at JF Men, I was brought upstairs to the men’s locker room. Complete with Julien Farel products and everything you need(razors and shaving cream, mouthwash, lotions, and shower products — and a robe + sandals to walk thru the locker room and spa), the locker room is totally decked out. With time to spare, I spent time relaxing in their steam room. Ahhhhmazing, and the massage hasn’t even started yet. All relaxed and showered, I put on the provided robe and waited for Gregory, my masseur. Although he was running about 10 minutes behind, he didn’t let that affect the experience as a whole. I was brought into the couple’s massage room, and asked if there were any areas of focus that were needed. I run, cycle, and weight train often, if not daily, so my lower body was in some serious need of some TLC. Gregory’s background in kinesiology and knowing a guy’s musculature really made the massage perfect for me. He has the ability to understand the type of person he’s working on and adapt the massage based on you, your needs, and your body’s needs. With strong, intuitive hands and many years of experience, Gregory’s massage truly tops all of the massages I’ve ever had. As an added bonus, the massage table is heated. The music isn’t your typical elevator music but music that is actually relaxing! If it is important to you, he uses a typical biotone massage cream. Overall: Facilities — spacious and modern Staff — very accommodating, professional — from the masseur to everyone else, especially Cosmo Massage — truly extraordinary I would absolutely recommend to anyone — especially if you are athletic, but even if you’re not. Gregory’s ability to adapt the massage to you makes it the ideal massage whether it’s more for working tensions out of those muscles or just a relaxing rub.

Booked a massage through here, although the actual massage took place in the spa on the floor above. I got at 75 minute massage was very impressed — Greg did a fantastic job, and I walked out feeling incredible. Additionally, he was very friendly and explained what he was doing as he went along, which was helpful for a massage novice like me. Greg also had some background in strength training(the reason why I needed a massage in the first place), and the advice he gave me regarding lifting and muscle tightness will be useful as I continue to train. The location is also pretty convenient — just two blocks off of the 59th St. 4÷5÷6 stop. If you’re looking for a good massage in midtown, I highly recommend this place.

Excellent space inside the Loews Regency New York Hotel. High-design padded leather chairs imported from Italy, friendly and sharply looking staff. All you need to groom your executive look, for reasonable prices. The private rooms offer extra comfort and there’s also a full-service room with a bed for special treatments such as oiling, waxing, pedicure. A bit much for me, but it’s there. The lady working that room is really nice and classy BTW. Some men need high-end grooming, this place is for them.
