I really enjoyed my service at Julien Farel Salon. I had color and cut services there and my hair looks amazing! Julien, Rudy, and Sandrine were fantastic and offered fabulous service. Sandrine cut my hair and Rudy completed my highlights. My hair has never looked better. I highly recommend the salon. The space is beautiful and the chairs are particularly relaxing also.

I’ve been going to Shab for years and followed her from Roy Teeluck to Julien Farel Restore Salon. She always spends a lot of time listening to my needs and offers her professional, artistic advice to achieve the look that I want. She does an amazing job every single time! I cannot brag about her work enough. If you walk in and have no clue what you want she will sit you down, take her time and suggest a look that would be most flattering to your face. She’s a gem!

Just had another great haircut with Danielle! I don’t know how she does it but my hair looks thicker after a haircut. One of the great things about how she cuts hair is it never has that just cut look. The haircut looks like you, just fresher and better! I call it the no-cut haircut!

I recently had a knee surgery and before surgery, I was in a very rigorous physical therapy program. I finally recovered enough to look in the mirror and realize I was a hot mess and needed a serious makeover. Enter: Tina at Julien Farel. Tina is an absolute joy! She’s not only a master hairstylist but incredibly sweet. She did a thorough consultation to ensure we would get the best possible look. We decided that to get to the result, I wanted(long layers) I would have to reshape it by trimming some off now then gradually grow it in. She took her time to pay attention details in the shape and the way it moved. Hard work pays off because the result is truly perfection! I know this is just a haircut, but for someone who is dealing with surgery recovery and some medical stuff, it much more than that. She did revitalize me from the inside out! I feel confident and ready to get back out in the world! Thank you so much, Tina!

I came to this salon last week for the first time for a cut and blow dry as a hair model. I was seen by the lovely Tina who not only gave me a great cut but was also a pleasure to chat with. Let’s be honest ladies, when we go to a salon we love to talk with our stylists, a great personality goes a long way! She’s funny and made me feel very comfortable despite some scalp issues I’ve been having. And she even recommended some great products that I could take home with me to help with my problem. I’ve been a hair model at a few other salons in the past but this place takes the cake. It’s located next to the illustrious Loews Hotel off Park Ave. and is bright, beautiful and luxurious inside. Oh! And can we talk about the sinks where you get your hair washed? Usually my short neck cranks in those things and I’m in pain but this is the first place where I actually enjoyed the shampooing process! Your legs are elevated in the chair so that you’re basically lying down and there’s even a massage option! I mean what’s not to like? I will definitely be back!

A beautiful salon, with exceptional staff. From the front desk, to their manicurists, colorists and hair stylists, all are A+. I have been a client for over 10 years, first with Stephanie who sadly left to go to Mexico and work at their Spa in Cabo, then wih Myumi who left for maternity leave and now with Sandrine. All fabulous hair stylists! I also would recommend Lila Carlino for color.(Blonde). Even their owner, Julien, is often on-site and very hands on.

. Where do I begin? :hums to self: It was love at first site. The ambience and design of the salon is elegant, warm and contemporary without being pretentious. My stylist, Jackson Simmonds, immediately and warmly greeted me upon arrival. I’m always a bit tentative visiting a salon where I haven’t been before. I brought some photos of the style I had envisioned, but the expert that he is found this entirely unnecessary. He listened attentively, clearly communicated and assessed the state of my hair. He seemed to be able to read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted — an elegant, versatile and youthful style. He then led me to have my hair washed and I was delightfully surprised by the most comfortable massage chair ever. It was perfect after a long day and the ideal introduction to the cut. Jackson’s meticulous attention to detail from his warmth in greeting me, excellent communication in assessing my style goals, pulling out my chair, precise execution of every angle of the cut and style, providing tips on how I could recreate various styles on my own, all placed me in a state of total confidence, relaxation and comfort. Jackson also informed me of the JL Vitamin Restore treatment and which products could benefit me, without a hard sell. I arrived at the salon tired and cranky. I left the salon with luxuriously healthy, shiny and bouncy hair which provided that extra boost to race home and change to take on the evening. Thank you, Jackson, for your generosity, talent and warmth. You’re the best!!! And, thank you, Julien and Suelyn Farel for creating a wonderful respite from the non-stop pace of NYC. You’ve left this critic humbled and inspired.

I had my highlights done by Abby Haliti and my haircut done by Elizabeth Mergler… and it looks amazing!!! the talent these women provide is amazing! I’m so happy with my hair right now. I have very thick curly hair and they seriously went above and beyond to make my hair beautiful! The assistants were also truly wonderful and professional. I highly recommend going to this beautiful salon/spa and pampering yourself!

So I just got around to getting highlights again with Abby again a little more than a year following my last visit. The great thing about the balayage highlights I had from her last time is I didn’t have stark visible root lines so I got lazy and kept putting off going back. I felt a need for a pick-me-up last week, though, so I returned again and she continues to provide fabulous highlights. I also got a nice haircut from Jackson. It was my first time getting one here so I didn’t know what to expect. I explained to the receptionist on the phone that I preferred a stylist who’s good with fine wavy hair and she recommended him. He understood exactly what I wanted and proceeded to cut my hair with fine detail. It was six months since my last cut again due to laziness. He charmingly emphasized afterwards that he works on Saturdays so I can regularly return for trims. I definitely plan on doing that. I will admit the cut and color were a bit of a splurge but it was a great experience and money well spent.

Sadly have to say that I had the same experience as Neha. When it comes to my hair, it has to be 5 stars, there’s no such thing for me as 4-stars or 3 — it’s either right or wrong. Abby kept me waiting 2 and a half hours because I’m just a nobody and an important Russian pageant entrant required emergency highlights. She proceeded to spend 10 minutes on me and I ended up with orange tiger stripes. The lady who did my blow out was an annoying know it all. The damage to my wallet was $ 500. I had it fixed by a real colorist at another top salon for $ 160 plus tip. I’m sure Abby can do great color, if you’re important enough for her to care.

Amazing!!! My husband, who is a regular at JF Mens Salon, always talks about how great it is and I wanted to try it. I saw Mike for the first time and he did a fantastic job on my damaged blonde locks. He did a balayage treatment instead of foils because of the damage on my hair which is gentler than the foils. He wanted to add multi-dimensions to it to look«natural». Needless to say, I am 100% thrilled with the results and I am a picky customer. Mike checked it over many times and made recommendations that I get a haircut right away to restore my hair. He is a great listener and was completely honest with me about what I can and cannot do. He is a rare gem in the salon world! After the color, he directed me over to Sandrine for a hair«dusting» as she likes to call it. After carefully combing through my hair, she showed me the uneven hair-splitting front of my hair and suggested that I cut off more than I wanted just the first time. I listened and am so happy with the results! She also recommended I try the JF products, the Vitamin Restore and the Magnifque which reduce anti-aging as well as add vitamins to my hair. She recommended that I wait for the amazing results after a few weeks of treatment. She is extremely precise, has a great eye, and also listens well. She rocks! :) To boot, the salon is so beautiful, clean and serene. Great cappuccinos! It is a great escape and worth every cent. I am now an addict.

Went to Abby for a balayge and spent $$$$$. I picked her out of other colorists because she’s done socialites hair color and thought she knew her stuff. Long story short my hair is orange and that’s not what I expected after making sure to her I wanted a golden brown. Went back to get the color fixed and she still didn’t get the color right. and side note– when you make an appointment for a specific time your colorist shouldn’t make you wait an additional hour to chat to someone while you’re client is waiting. Horrible service and money down the drain. Will never return.

LOVE this salon. Vive(blowout membership) sent me here for my first appointment. I got Dawn for a blowout and she was lovely(and talented!). The space is simply gorgeous. It’s in a beautiful hotel. It’s convenient to the UES. I think the blowouts are usually $ 50(which isn’t much more than ye olde Drybar standard). Highly recommended. The chairs for the washing stations also turn into beds/loungers kind of — the most comfortable I’ve been and the wash was I swear half scalp massage. Love everything about my experience today! Thanks Dawn!

After accompanying my boyfriend to several of his haircuts(he is a fan of Jeff), I was finally able to get one and it was just as great as everyone has said! Located inside the Loews Regency Hotel, the salon is beautifully designed and very well kept. I was taken in right away, given a robe and a drink, and met by my stylist Davis. Davis was very friendly and helped me chose a style that did not require a lot of maintenance since I don’t styling my hair. Since I can be indecisive when it comes to hair, I really liked that he took the time to help me figure out a style that would suit me. Before the cut, I went to the back and got my hair washed. It was quite possibly the most comfortable wash I have ever gotten! The chair was automatic and came with a massage, a very nice touch. I forgot who washed my hair but she was friendly as well and explained all the products to me. My cut came out wonderful! I was given long layers, which framed my face nicely and my hair finally looked like it had some life in it! He also gave me pointers on how to style my hair and recommended products I should use. I also loved my blow out at the end and would definitely rather come here than the dry bar. This salon is wonderful– everything from the service to atmosphere is 5 stars and I will definitely be back!

I love love coming here. Bibi gives the best gel manicures. I travel across from the west side every other week to get a manicure from Bibi. The salon is so beautiful, clean and serene. It a great escape and worth every cent . A few times I decided I wanted a blow-out and manicure at the same time and they were very accommodating which was amazing! I was able to get my nails done right in the hair chair. The blow-outs were great and it was a great time saver to get it all done at once and done so well! I also have started using the julien farel shampoo and conditioner that I got there and am very happy with it. My hair is a lot less dry so happy with that change too!

I had a really nice experience at this salon. After coming here back in July for a Unilocal Elite Event, I was lucky enough to come back for a haircut just last week. Elizabeth cut my hair and she did a great job. I have very very thick hair and just wanted a trim and to update my layers. Elizabeth did exactly that. She also gave me one of the best blowouts I’ve ever gotten. Normally these take up to an hour since I have so much hair, but Elizabeth took less than 30 minutes. I didn’t want to wash my hair since I can never get it to look that good myself! I would definitely recommend this salon for an upscale experience with talented professionals. Now I just need highlights!

It’s a shame that I have to be the first to give JF salon less than a 4-star review, but I have to be honest. The hospitality and the way that they made me feel like a princess was lovely, but the haircut, I had to say, was sub-par. It’s taken me a while to write this review because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to leave one if it wasn’t 5 stars like everyone else’s. But… What a lovely experience! I was fortunate enough to return to Julien Farel Salon and get a fancy haircut, gratis. I probably would have never gone out and pampered myself so much on my own, so thanks for that! I needed a haircut, badly, so I went ahead and booked one at the Unilocal Elite event with a senior stylist and returned a week later, super excited. Upon entering, I had people opening doors for me, asking me if I wanted any drinks(wine! champagne! iced tea! water!) and had me put on a robe. I then chilled out in the couches by the lobby and proceeded to read a magazine and people watch as I waited. Finally, it was my turn. I got a nice shampoo/conditioner massage from a nice young man in a very fancy-shmancy lie-flat chair. Forget those crappy chairs that end up kinking up your neck. He explained the shampoos and conditioners and other high-end salon products to me and my hair was left feeling soft and clean. I probably could have sat in that chair for a while. Alas, haircut time. I wanted something simple — bang trim and length trim. I originally wanted it maybe an inch or two shorter, but I obliged when I was told it would look better if I kept it long. At the end, it looked like I hadn’t even received a haircut. My friends all told me I looked the same. My bangs were so uneven and didn’t even have the«sideswept» slant that I was hoping to have(please see picture). The entire haircut felt really rushed for some reason, maybe because my guy had a flight to catch very soon that evening. I don’t want to name names, because he was a very, very friendly fellow who I’m sure is very capable of giving amazing haircuts… maybe it was my thin, straight, boring hair that was the issue. I went home that evening feeling very unsatisfied. So a week later, I called JF to book another appointment to fix my bangs — yes, I had to go back. The same guy helped me out again, where I pointed out that my bangs were clearly messed up and he helped me even them out and added a little more layer to the sides of my hair. See, the only issue is, they were a bit shorter than I wanted to be after this«fix», and — they were still uneven when I went back home. Thus, I just gave up. A couple months later and my hair grew out and now I’m going somewhere else to get another haircut. I loved the experience and the treatment by the staff, but unfortunately I was not happy with my haircut and definitely would not have paid the $ 200+ for something I could have gotten better in Chinatown for $ 30.

I’ve always preferred when men cut my hair because I think they style more on what they think is attractive versus what’s stylish so I was super excited when I received my stylist Davis. I was donating my hair so it was one of those massive change haircuts. Davis was super sweet and fashioned me with a very cool bob haircut. I’ve been getting tons of compliments even if I am a little scared when I don’t feel my long hair in the shower. Everyone is super attentive and amazing. Fantastic head massage when they wash your hair. I can’t wait to return for another pampering! I would definitely recommend this place for a great cut!

Come at your own risk… bc once you have been treated to their services you will become an addict. I was introduced to this place through an elite only event and luckily was welcomed back to be treated to a complimentary appointment of my choice. At first I decided to go for a single process but later through careful consideration opted for a manicure instead. Booking and changing my appointment was easy and they are great at sending confirmation text. Once I arrived, the staff greeted me and right away introduced me to Margo who was extremely helpful and friendly! She led me right away to her station and offered me a refreshment and helped me pick Deborah Lippmann’s blue orchid nail polish.(Its the cutest baby blue nail polish I have ever seen). Through the entire process she was kind enough to answer my questions about the business and we held such a lovely conversation. My manicure lasted for about 40 mins, and that includes the drying off portion as well.(They use this awesome liquid which dries your nails in mins). She also introduced me to Deborah Lippmann’s cuticle oil which is a hydrating cuticle treatment to help strengthened my nails. I have been using it and can not wait to continue to apply it. Its $ 20 a bottle but it is a regular bottle size and I figured I would constantly be spending money trying to find a nail strengthener that may or may not work at my local duane reade store. Overall, this is the best salon/spa anyone could decide to try if they are looking for a place to spoil themselves. Always call to make your appointment bc they have a large amount of clients constantly utilizing their services.

Get yo’self pampered, elite style. After the elite event the other week, I came by this week to Julien Farel for my haircut. Before even visiting, I received confirmation texts which were really helpful in reminding me about the appointment. The day finally came and even though I was running a few minutes behind, they were prepared for me when I showed up. Upon arrival, my barber Yulia had me slip into a robe so hair wouldn’t get onto my clothing. We then went to the wash station for a thorough shampooing and conditioning. The massage chair there was a pleasant surprise and I enjoyed the sensations both on my head and down my back. Yulia was really keen on figuring out what style haircut I wanted, asking about what I usually got, what I was looking for, and how I normally styled it. I honestly don’t do too much to my hair, and she understood I was looking for something stylish but also low maintenance. She got to work and I just sat back and sipped my iced tea. The haircut ended up taking around an hour from start to finish. It was a much longer experience than I normally have, but I did enjoy every minute. Yulia paid so much attention to detail and made sure no stray hairs was to be found. After the cut, we went back to wash station for another rinse. She used a straight edge razor to trim my neck hairs. I got a few hot towels wraps and she gave me a quick shoulder and face massage. Not sure if it was because I was Elite, but nothing was held back and I got the full treatment. The final product was definitely reflective of the time put into the process. I loved how simple and clean the cut ended up being. While I did enjoy the experience, I can’t say JF would become my regular barbershop. At $ 75 a cut, it’s hard to justify my monthly cuts when I pay no more than $ 20 in Chinatown. However, should I be in the mood to pamper myself, I know just the salon and stylist to go to!
