I like the intention here and the hipster vibe. Amidst honking horns and busy people, the basement setting is like a morning hug with your coffee. The design is both earthy and urban. The pastries are decent and the food on trend. It might be what you expect from urbanites or semi-rural transplants dreaming about writing or producing a play about the farm, or perhaps the ennui of it all. This is NYC, you’ll generally meet people interested in sharing what they are working on and interested in you. If you’re shy or just need a sidewalk timeout, you can people watch upfront all morning and then migrate to the back for lunch. Relax. This is everybody’s city.

It has a pretty solid space to sit down inside. Usually still very crowded though. Chairs are quite high and uncomfortable btw. My friend ordered Chai tea which had a really strong spice flavor, I had homemade lemonade – very sour, almost not sweet. Pecan pie was delicious though!

There is this total prick with tattoos up his arms and discs in his ear lobes making the coffee. He gives the place a really bad name. He’s smug. Thick. And full of it. Has no people skills. Talks to people like he’s too cool for everyone. No matter how good the coffee is, he leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Nobody needs a dick like this with your coffee. And anyway, the place is crowded and over priced. You can get coffee with no attitude at so many other places.

I came here last Thursday when I was in NYC for just a day. I got a panini and an iced chai. Both were amazing but $ 19 for a sandwich and tea, I know it’s New York but it’s just a little pricey. Still tasted great though, the chai was the best I’ve ever had!

Pumpkin seed latte was so bad. it supposed to be latte but looked more like espresso-infused water with a bit of foam on top :( Disappointed.

A chai runs pretty steep here, but their pumpkin seed milk is to die for. Great location in the middle of the dining concourse of Grand Central Station, perfect place to rest and people-watch.

It must be my fault… every time I make the same mistake. I order coffee from the coffee place. I know, I know, but hear me out. I like coffee… I want coffee… why can’t the fancy roasters ever put ANY focus on the actual coffee. They’re always focused on the espresso and espresso drinks. It’s like you automatically get a pass to cool-vill when the lattes come with fancy foam drawings of leprechauns. So back to the coffee. It was somehow watery and bitter at the same time. This is hard to achieve because usually watery coffee doesn’t have enough substance to also be bitter… but HEREWEARE! So what I’m saying is, don’t order coffee from here. ever.

Such a cute spot for a quick coffee/tea date. The staff is very friendly and my drink was prepared really quickly. I had a tea with a little milk and it was ready by the time I finished paying, which is impressive because it was really crowded. I would love to come back to try some of the sandwiches and coffee that they serve.

After an hour’s wait at Levain’s nearby, we took our cookies here to eat with a coffee and hot chocolate. My fiancée’s coffee was just right! I wish the UES had a spot like this cause the vibe here was on point. A good amount of seating with a great coffee selection. If I’m ever in the UWS again and I need to get stuff done, this’d be my first choice!

Good coffee, with three brews available for pour overs. Smiling service, big well-lit space. I’ve been here mostly during weekdays and it’s full but always has seats.(Weekends are another story – I’ve walked by and seen lines out the door.) If you like pastries, gird your goddamn loins and get ready to eat. They’ve got a lot to choose from. I’ve only sampled a very little bit. Try their fancy take on a pop tart, maybe. No wifi. Tragic. It’s almost like they want to make a profit or something.

Location: Very surprising & interesting spot in UWS. At first, I thought it was just one of the small coffee shop in NYC. But I was totally wrong when I first stepped into the store: It has a relatively spacious area both in the front and in the back. The decoration is wooden and very romantic in a way that I love. They serve food, coffee, and bakeries in general. I had their pour over — chinese herb coffee bean in particular. It was herbal and nice. I seldom had this unique experience and china has coffee bean farms? I do not know but it seems interesting. But the worst part is that they do not have WIFI. Service: although they are pretty much disorganized, they still put everything together. price: Not expensive… i forgot the price. but it is just a great place to meet up friends and family member and see lots of people talking around you. overall: they do not have wifi but still i love here! and do try their unique coffee beans! 4 stars!

The main reason to go to this place(IMO) is that it is big, with lots of seating room. In fact, most people appeared to be taking advantage of that… it was pretty packed on a weekday morning. The drip coffee is really average. It doesn’t taste like Starbucks, but it is comparable quality I’d say. But it is more expensive, and the large size is smaller than a Venti. You need to get them to pour the milk. Also, baristas do seem fairly unfriendly. Will not return.

Great coffee shop on the UWS. There were tons of places to sit, which is always a problem at places like this. Good beer list and the coffee is great! They have some cute pastries that I haven’t yet tried, but they look awesome. This is my go-to place to sit with a friend and catch up :)

Coffee was good but I wish they would let you put in your own milk instead of doing it for you. There was so much milk(or cream?) in my cup that it was almost white… I wanted to try the food but the place was packed and getting a seat was a hopeless endeavor. Maybe next time…

Cute coffee shop with a lot of seating– decent space in the front and a lot of seating in the back! They open late too so nice to have an after-dinner drink. I’ve had their homemade chai and it is great! Really nice and spicy. I’ve tried it with both their homemade pumpkin seed milk(first and only place I know of that has this) and also soy milk. Note– the small latte size is really really small; more like a teacup size. Lots of vegan options. Pumpkin seed milk and soy milk, a few vegan pastries(cookies, quick breads)– probably varies day to day. There are also some savory items like sandwiches, salads(have not tried any of these). Overall really nice chill atmosphere with great coffee and specialty tea drinks. One of my favorite coffee places in the city.

If you want great coffee, service, and a quick delicious breakfast, this is the spot to go. All of the coffees are locally roasted, and every latte is perfectly prepared with the classic heart on top. I had breakfast here a few times and could not get enough of their homemade granola, it’s awesome, not overly sweet and perfect with their apple pie compote on top

A great place to hang out or work with a good cup of coffee, as long as you don’t mind the busy crowds and slight noisiness. Irving Farm doesn’t have wifi, but I kind of like that. It still manages to attract many people who sit and stay, which speaks to the environment and the quality of its drinks. On any given day you can expect to find the place pretty full. I went on a Sunday night most recently and the place was busy til right before closing at 10pm. Keep in mind that it can get a little loud when there are big groups or just a lot of customers in general, so maybe not the best place to write an essay or do some serious studying. But for some light reading or work, it’s a great setting with plenty of seating. So far I’ve stuck to the iced latte, though I’m sure as the weather gets colder I’ll move on to the hot options. I wish I didn’t have to though, because the iced latte is perfection. It’s hard to find one that’s strong but also creamy without being watered down, and Irving Farm gets it right. I’ve always found the baristas to be patient and friendly, even when you’re indecisive like me and take your time. No snooty attitudes here. On my last visit, one of the baristas was even kind enough to warm up a croissant that I brought from home, which I appreciated since he wasn’t obligated to do it. The one thing I wish is that drinks and food were a little cheaper. I paid a bit over $ 5 for an iced latte, and although I’m always tempted to get one of the sandwich options, they’re just too pricey at over $ 10 each. I guess they probably have to keep these prices to stay competitive, but I do wish they could be lowered. It’s the one thing that keeps me from coming here more than once a week. Perhaps they could introduce a rewards program? Just a thought, but despite that, Irving Farm will continue to be a favorite for an every-now-and-then treat.

I come here every single day for breakfast! Their coffee is solid and their pastries on display never disappoint. The ham & cheese croissant, farm muffin, and apple walnut muffin are my favorite! Their service is amazing too; everyone is extremely friendly & welcoming!

Love: — Iced latte — the back space with the huge wall mural — chill baristas — it’s the only coffee place on the UWS that I go to(and I’m rarely on the UWS)

Simple yet delicious sandwiches. Parking available for dine in or to go. Employees are enthusiastic and passionate about your order. Really vibrant city spot. I’ll be back again and again.
