It’s my go-to ktown restaurant beacuse I like their seafood soondubu and the bbq set up.

This was my third visit to Shilla but my first time sitting upstairs on the third floor. I have always enjoyed their beef short rib soup and ordered it again this time without disappointment. We also tried the hot beef bibimbap and the cold noodle special. The cold noodle special was ok but not horrible. The other two dish were so much better. And as usual, everything is accompanied with small tasty side dishes. I normally don’t like spicy foods but the kimchi was delicious. I normally visit on my own, but this time my family came with me and we were given exceptional service from the waiting staff. The waitress(I think her name is Mi Young) was most hospitable and friendly with my two young children. We also ordered Soju(Chum Churum) and that was amazingly good. Reminds me of sake a lot. I love Korean food and this place holds up to taste. I am rating it five stars due to the service and food. One of the greatest experiences at an authentic Korean restaurant.

I went here with a group of about 12 people. We had the Korean BBQ& some of us ordered additional food. The mushroom soup was probably the best I’ve ever had. The broth was amazing and the mushrooms were still crisp, but without feeling under cooked. The Korean BBQ was pretty good. I’d give it an 8⁄10. My only issue with the BBQ was that it was very overpriced for what it was. It should not have been that expensive for what we were provided. Call me a cheapskate, but I’ve had better for less. Staff was nice enough. I think they were annoyed with us because we had loud drunks in our party, but they were accommodating and pleasant throughout our visit. Décor is unmemorable & feels more American bistro than Korean. If I came back, I’d definitely stick to the a la carte menu & save the BBQ for later.

The lunch deal was great! Came with a choice of meat dish and soup/cold noodles. The meat were cooked to perfection, flavorful and juicy, especially the pork belly. I enjoyed the tofu seafood soup more and was not fond with the cold noodle, but still thinks this place deserves a 5 star rating! The side dishes were decent, but I loved the radish one! Overall, I would come back in the future for the lunch special!

I enjoyed my meal at Shilla the other day. Wasn’t super impressed in terms of the price for what you’re getting, but I did enjoy my meal here. We got the bulgogi and short rib barbecue and the Japchae and seafood pancake as appetizers. The Japchae was good, texture and taste wise. Usually I loooove Japchae but I wasn’t devouring it like usual. It was definitely good, but I’ve had better. The seafood pancake was also good, although I wish it had been slightly thinner and more crisp. Both of these came in good portions though, which was great. The bulgogi was surprisingly good — bulgogi tends to end up too dry for my taste, but here it wasn’t so. I usually prefer kalbi though, and I would definitely recommend the short rib, as the meat is more tender — and you can take it off of the grill medium rare ;) The Korean appetizers were alright — a bit too Americanized for my taste. They had some of the traditional stuff like the kimchi and such, but I found it strange that they served mashed potatoes. The service was quick and efficient. We got our food and(later) the check quickly, and our server came back often to man the meat on the grill. We would have preferred to handle it ourselves, but she didn’t seem to understand when we tried to say/signal that we could do it(language barrier). But she did a good job of it anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal. Nothing special about the ambiance — your typical Korean barbecue place. Noise level was a little louder than an average restaurant, but again, typical. Nice and spacious — loved that. Didn’t feel too cramped up with other tables, and could actually talk without having to yell, despite the loud general buzz of people chatting and food cooking throughout the place. Korean barbecue places aren’t usually very intimate because there is always someone coming to handle your food — but you could still have a nice conversation here. There was no wait here on the weeknight that I came. It picked up a little bit in busyness later, but it was by no means packed like most places in Koreatown are. You could take this as a good thing or bad. Good that you don’t have to wait, or bad because that could be a sign of something. Personally, I really enjoyed my meal, but I’ve also definitely had better and might not come back at the prices they charge(price took a lot from this).

The food and service were pretty good. I had a spicy pork rice it mightve been a bim bom bop but it was absolutely fantastic. Service was fast and the waitress was very kind and responsive. The next time I’ll be back to try their BBQ food.

I have been coming to Shilla for a little over 3 years now and I always come back. This place is great because it stays open late, the food is great, and the servers are efficient. I usually get the kimchi jiggae, or some form of stew. Today I got spicy squid with pork(I can’t remember the Korean name). It was incredibly delcious. The squid wasn’t too chewy as it sometimes can be in Korean food. Another thing I like about this place is the quality of kimchi. The quality is better than a lot of places that I’ve been before and since I love kimchi it’s important to me that it’s tasty. The only reason this has 4 stars is because I think the barbecue is ovepriced. It’s comparable to places nearby, but I think the whole area overprices their barbecue.

Great place for late hours. They have exelent big variety of dishes. The location is a not that big though. But the staff are super nice and they are always attentive. It really surprised me the fact that the place was super empty. To be honest, the food quality wasn’t great. Maybe is because im not a big fan of korean dishes. But still my friend wasn’t impressed. Still a good option for late night thought.

Pretty average place. Not great, but not bad either. Atmosphere: One of the skinny long restaurants of K-Town. My BF and I decided on this place due to the variety of the food and pricing wasn’t too bad comparatively. It was a quiet place, not many people were dining here. Décor was not memorable. There is an upstairs so the place is probably pretty big. Food: Overall, not bad. I got the Dab Gol and my BF got the Bulgogi Rice Bowl. Both were not bad. Flavors was lacking a little bit… needed to add lots of spicy sauce to bring something to the bowl. The appetizers were good, favorites were the pancakes and the beet I think? Others were just OK. I didn’t try the Korean BBQ but lots of people around me did and they all seemed to like it and everything looked very delicious. I’m sure the BBQ was very expensive though.

Being Korean and living in Miami is like being a chicken and living at a dog rescue shelter. There is nothing here that pertains to me or the things that I crave, which is why my trip to New York was planned around being as close to Koreatown as possible. My hotel was a 8 minute walk from KT, and I’d be lying if I said we didn’t go to shilla at least every other day of my stay. The food is incredible, the service is second to none, and the quality of the experience is that of a five star restaurant. I can’t wait to go back just so I can gain another 10 lbs in 5 days.

The younger staff really SUCKS. This place is no longer on my list of korean bbq places to bring friends in NYC. N-A-S-T-Y-++++++++! P. S. There was NOONEHERE. Because the food SUCKS.

This was my first time with Kbbq, so excuse my tendency to be bias… It’s a solid place to get Kbbq with fast service and delicious food. I feel like Kbbq is something that you have to do with a big group otherwise it sucks the life out of going Kbbq. We had a party of seven and were seated very quickly upon going in. The waitress immediately came over to service us and was very patient and reliable. She spoke majority Korean though, so thank goodness we had someone who could speak Korean there with us. She made good suggestions of what we should order and recommended the most popular items on their menu. After ordering, the tea(which is so nice and warm on a cold day!) and bonchon were served. There is a wide variety of bonchon, which is refillable. There was radish, beef with egg, potato salad, kimchee, baby bok choy with kimchee, lettuce(for wrapping), salad, broccoli, and steamed custard egg. They all are really good. When the meat was ready to be cooked, the waitress was very fast and told us when the meat was ready to be eaten. It’s delicious when you take the lettuce and put some bean sprout/kimchee, meat(whatever you ordered) and then some sauce and then wrap it all up and stuff it in your mouth. Good flavoring and fun experience. Oh yeah, upon exiting, I looked at their front desk… and saw that Daniel Henney had once been here to Kbbq. That makes this place even more awesome. But all fangirling aside, this is a great place that I would come to to get my Kbbq needs fulfilled! Thumbs up!

Came here for Korean BBQ on a Saturday night because everything else was a million hour wait. Was seated within ten minutes. Got marinated pork, kalbi beef, and duck. While I would never do the duck again the rest was SOGOOD. Our waitress and grill master was so attentive and on point, readily bringing more of what was needed without even having to ask. I thought everything was super tasty. I’m not an expert but my bestie is Korean(from korea) and have gone to many of her top choices for Korean bbq including her favorite place in Busan, Korea and this did fairly well in comparison. Considering the lack of wait and decent price and yum factor this is five stars easily.

It’s lunch time and we were in ktown and all the other restaurants were busy. We were hungry and didn’t wanted to wait so decided dine here. We order shrimp fried rice, beef bibimbap in the hot stone, bolgulgi over rice in the hot stone. The food was decent. We’ve had better Korean food elsewhere which probably explains why this place is not that busy. I do noticed from an earlier Unilocaler that the restaurant rating was grade B. Well, that’s been updated to grade A now and it’s posted on their window. Trust me, it’s the 1st thing I check when eating at NYC. The restaurant is small and clean. It’s also hot because of the people doing the grilled bbq, which is what I really disliked as our clothes and hair smelled like food when leaving the place. There is only 1 bathroom with 1 toilet stall for all customer. Really? Also, there’s no changing station for babies, not that I needed one(just noticed). The staff was nice and friendly. We liked some of their side dishes such as their spicy tofu, Kim chi and stir fried soy sprouts with sesame oil.

My friend and I came here on a Saturday after coming back from New Jersey for the Big Bang concert(they were amazing, by the way!). Everything started off slow, as we noticed there was only one server taking care of the 3 or 4 tables scattered around the big restaurant. He sat us immediately but it did take him a while to finally get us some waters, but it was understandable as we literally saw him running around and sweating. Once the other few tables started to pay out and leave, service was top notch! I was really craving KBBQ, which is why we went there, but we were told that we had to order 2 meats to grill it on the stove. My friend and I didn’t think we could finish all of that so we decided to order other food items. Our server offered to cook it in the back for us, which I thought was really sweet considering how out of the way it was, but it told him it was fine. My friend ordered the kimchi intestine soup and I got the seafood mixed rice. Both were delicious and mine was such a big portion that I didn’t even get to finish it! We ordered the Suzy Bomb, which is basically a bottle of soju and 3 bottles of beer. and let me just say… yikes! Our server checked up on us consistently without being overbearing, and was just overall awesome. Next time I’m back in New York, I’ll definitely have to go again! Hopefully our waiter will be there to wait on us again!

We came in and there were 4 – 5 tables and only one server running around so I was very sympathetic with him. It took awhile for us to get our waters but once those other tables left and another server came to help, we got excellent service. The food was delicious and came out quite fast. I got the intestines kimchi soup and my friend got the fresh fish over rice. We also got the Suzy Bomb combo for drinks which kind of killed us lol Overall a very fun time and great food + service. Would def visit again if I am ever back in town.

Started with the pork and kimchi dumplings. Awesome! If you don’t like kimchi, don’t worry it’s not visible nor can you taste it in the dumplings. Tried 3 different meats for the barbecue: black pork belly, bulgogi, «our special» marinated beef rib. The marinated beef rib was hands down the best of the 3 and is an absolute must try at Shilla! The flavors of the beef rib with the bean paste and grilled kimchi is one combo of flavors every mouth deserves to be rewarded with. Only critique I have for Shilla is to up your side dishes game. Was hoping for some eggs, potatoes, or radish kimchi! Otherwise, this would have resulted in a 5 star rating.

I always feel like Korean BBQ places are great for groups. You get to order a bunch of different things and try a variety of dishes. Shilla was no different. Our group of 7 came in on a Thursday at around 6:30 with a reservation and we were seated immediately. Downstairs seemed pretty busy but upstairs was quieter, which was perfect for us. We decided to go with the two combos — pork and beef. I’m not exactly sure what cuts of meats or everything it came with but it was a lot of food. There was also a lot of different banchan dishes and the servers always refilled them when they were empty. The service was pretty on point. They helped us cook the food and always seemed to be around(but not in an annoying way) when we needed something. We did a pretty good job on finishing most of the food, and we were really stuffed afterwards. It came out to about $ 35 pp(and some of us had drinks), so the price wasn’t bad for K-Town, IMO. Tip #1– if you’re planning on ordering wine, FYI: it’s literally those mini bottles that they serve you on airplanes. So if you’re not a fan, you might want to order something else. Tip #2 — if you pay with cash, you get 10% off the bill!

I really like any dish with kalbi in it, as I think it’s very flavorful. I would advise against their tofu bowls, as it was made extremely spicy, yet flavorless(how does that happen?). It is expensive, but it is one of the nicer places in K-Town.

Like most of the Korean restaurants on the block, they don’t do cooktop grill without a minimum purchase of two orders. I think it’s a shame because they could get more business if they offered barbequed meats with or without the double order or having to use the tabletop grills. Their food is decent, nothing abnormal or extraordinary. Their menu’s are falling apart, they do have an extensive choice for lunch specials, probably their busiest time. If you do get the barbeque, I suggest you do their combos which is for two people, or more depending how much each individual can consume. Their barbeque and quality of meat is delicious, but unless you’re doing that, everything else borders mediocre.

Came here for some Korean barbecue since my coworkers have been going on and on and on about going for Korean barbecue in K town for weeks. Let me say the menu is huge so many options of so many things a foodie like me would want to order everything. I let my coworkers do the ordering since they speak Korean and I don’t. we were a party of six people and we ordered a serving for two people which I thought was crazy because the amount of food that was given I don’t see how only two people could eat all that food. In the center of the table is a propane cooker. The waitress brings out many little plates with side dishes and all these little different sauces for dipping I had no clue what anything was or what the lady was saying since she spoke in Korean the whole time to us. She very well knew I had no idea what she saying but as she was cooking she kept putting food on my plate which was cute in her nonverbal way of communication saying eat it up. The food was amazing and I really enjoyed my first Korean barbecue experience even though I wouldn’t be able to tell you what was ordered but I’ll tell you this Shilla’s food is tender well seasoned and delicious. The space is very large service is quick you’re seated right away, very clean restrooms all in all a great experience I will definitely return when craving some Korean barbecue plus this place is open 24⁄7 how awesome is that??? Sweet!

I would say this is just another average K-town restaurant. One of the bigger ones though which we needed considering we had a party of 7. We sat at a long table in the downstairs area and everything looked clean. They came out promptly with water and they gave us 2 sets of appetizers since there were so many of us. I ordered the bulgolgi bimbimbap which was good but not special or anything. Others seemed to enjoy their dishes as well(they ordered the gopdol and one of the soups) though didn’t seem overly impressed either. 2 people ordered the bbq but didn’t want it grilled at our table so the restaurant cooked it in the back which was nice. I wasn’t aware they did that for you. Service was pretty good. I ended up taking my meal home and they gave me a container for it, and I was about to put a remaining piece of the seafood pancake in my container and one of the servers was like wait I’ll get you a separate container for it! So I appreciated that. I would definitely recommend this place if you have a larger party as they were accommodating on shorter notice and service was good.

Actually my first Korean barbecue experience. My friend has been to Korea several times and wanted to eat here, so I was expecting the food to be good. Three huge floors and no waiting for a table. Ordered typical Korean beef with the sides, and wait staff were there every two minutes turning beef and bacon over on the barbecue pit, which was physically part of our table. Smoke poured from the grill, whole experience was fun and the table was able to seat just the two of us, but it did make conversation a little difficult at first with all the smoke in our faces :). Once that settled, food was really good and so was the Korean beer. Have no complaints about this place or the food, other than I have nothing else to compare it to!

«Come here hungry» Nice little nugget of an endless row of Korean restaurants. This place is a little cheaper(a few bucks) than some of the nicer places in KTown. The wait was not that long for a Saturday night, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on the food. The restaurant appears to be huge and I imagine very accommodating for larger groups. I am not an expert of Korean food, so I cannot comment in the authenticity of the food. However, I am expert of my taste buds and my appetizer of bacon wrapped shiitake mushrooms and Bibimbap were very delicious All the hosts, hostess and wait staff were Very friendly. I think everyone said hello and goodbye with huge smiles on their faces. The one thing that I did not like with the service is that it is a little too efficient. I say this because I dislike when my appetizer and main entrée comes out at the same. At least at this place, the bibimbap is sizzling hot so you need some time for it to cool. Warning: this place does not have bingsu, the Korean shaved ice dessert. I actually Unilocaled with the search term«bingsu» and this restaurant came up, which is the main reason I went there. However, one of the hosts informed me that I could get this dessert at the place next door. I will be back the next time I have a craving for Korean food.

This is a quite a nice restaurant in ktown that was surprising wasn’t as packed as BCD or Kunjip on a Friday night when we walked in. Despite being our third choice of the night I think I’m coming back here first in the future. For a table of 4 on Friday night we waited maybe about 10 – 15 min and its mainly because the 4th person was bit late so had to wait until everyone’s here. Although each floor seating area is not quite spacious it makes up for it for having 3 floors of seating area. It did took us having to wave the server for attention when we’re ready to order but once we got our order in the rest of the meal went pretty smooth. Their banchans are pretty decent especially the potato salad. As with a lot of Korean restaurant I’m a fan of Samgyetang(whole chicken soup) and this place didn’t disappoint me. The meat although a bit drier than I liked was quite delicious and at the same time the broth overly salty. The seafood pancake is quite crispy and although their dipping sauce is vinegar based it didn’t detract from the seafood pancake but I think I prefer the traditional sweeter taste of the sauce that I’m used to. My favorite though is the galbi beef patty special. Instead of short ribs they actually mashed the meat into a patty and served as a Salisbury steak of sorts. Doesn’t quite look as appetizing as the usual galbi meats but man it was absolutely delicious, the meat was very flavorful more so than traditional galbi short ribs as the meat was completely marinated with the BBQ sauce. Plus the price was bit cheaper as well despite having more portion in my opinion. Definitely something I would highly recommend at this place. Overall being a ktown restaurant obviously won’t have a perfect experience as this whole street is packed with people and price is Manhattan standard, however if you are in ktown I would highly recommend it as I had a really great experience here.

400. Shilla is definitely one of my favorite Korean places in the entire city. I have to admit though that I usually stop in later in the evening… with alcohol in my system *ahem* so my reviews may be a bit. skewed **ahem** With that being said, Shilla always leaves me happy. For such a massive place, the service is always friendly and fast. The food is good(We always go for the shrimp BBQ, the kalbi, and the spicy pork). The ban chan is also, of course, yum. And the drinks. lol. I can’t. The place itself is a labyrinth! Three huge floors(not good to be on the upper levels if buzzed… especially if you need to visit the restroom downstairs). PS: You can take a tour of the restaurant via Google Maps: . And is that Sailormoon by the signed photos at the entrance? Yass, strike a pose! Anyhoo, I can’t wait until the next.
