Very down the middle about Hale and Hearty, since 1) I’ve never had a bad meal here but 2) my wallet is never happy about it. I’ll start off with the salads, which are the best deal I think. For anyone not fell NYC, you basically get a Cheesecake Factory sized salad for about $ 8(both in portion and calorie count, if you make your salads with chicken, egg, and lots of dressing). You get a choice of lettuce or spinach and a lot of different fixings. Again, you can make it as healthy or unhealthy as you want. The soups are amazing. They taste great and also range from super healthy to might-as-well-have-gotten-a-burger. My issue is price. For a large soup you’re paying about $ 8, which I think is on the ridiculous side. It’s the price of a sandwich, and while there are hearty soups, it’s not going to fill me up as much as solid food(same argument can be made about the prices at Jamba Juice, but at least you get volume there). In the end, this place is okay. I can’t call it a go to, but if I really wanted soup I’d come here.

This is my go-to lunch spot. Quick and easy. Its nice to try any of the new soups before ordering it. I like the combo best, you can also upgrade from a small soup to a large for just a buck. Favorites here are the lentil soup, tomato basil and rice, and the chicken and guac wrap. Use the app levelup to get a discount the first time!

Best place to grab a soup when you have a cold or after a wisdom tooth extraction. Been on an only soup diet for a week after my wisdom tooth extraction and enjoyed the fresh daily soups of Hale & Hearty. The reason it’s a 3 stars and not more is due to the low verity of non crème/meat soups.

My favorite soup is the curry shrimp. They know how to move fast especially around lunch time. Pretty cool

Like every other Hale and Hearty restaurant in the chain, you can purchase soup, salads, sandwiches, chips, fruit, drinks and sweet treats here. The store has separate lines for soups, salads, sandwiches, and to pay. Which is nice if you want only a soup, salad or sandwich you wouldn’t have to wait in an extremely long line as this place gets rather busy very quickly. The only thing I don’t like about this location is it has almost zero space to eat it in. There is two lonely chairs against the wall near the entrance.

Unfortunately, I’ve had mediocre-to-poor experiences most of the times that I’ve been to this Hale & Hearty location(I’m a loyal Hale aficionado). I come to Hale in search of better soup quality and better service(which is how I justify paying more here than I probably would elsewhere). Some observations on potential areas for improvement : 1) Staff often seems more focused on chatting with one another rather than serving customers, leading to longer wait times. 2) Flow of the store appears to have been designed to create chaos and cause customers to literally collide with each other(I like bumper cars, but during lunch rush hour I’d say that trying to get from the end of the soup /sandwich line to the cash register(oddly located at the exact opposite corner of the store) is like navigating penn station during commute rush hour(ok, minus the suitcases everywhere)). Notably, the store’s flow appears to have been changed recently — it was not this chaotic under its prior layout. 3) During my last visit, I picked up a soup that was supposed to be the aforementioned tomato basil & rice soup(it was even numbered #16, which is their code for that soup), but inside was a completely different and unidentifiable soup(I’m a vegetarian so I couldn’t even try it). This should never happen. On the positive side, I can tell that the manager of this store really seems to care and be attentive to customers — so hopefully the above comments are helpful and I can revise this review upwards later on.

A place where you can get salad, sandwiches, and soups. The lines are usually really long during lunch time but it goes by quick because you have really quick workers… but they definitely try not to rush your order. For salads, you can create your own… pick your greens plus five toppings. Also, pick a dressing from their long list. I tried the red wine vinaigrette — although a bit too sour, I loved it. I love trying new dressings so hopefully I can pick a good one next time too. For soups, they have sooooo many options. You can ask to try one if you want. Soups come in three sizes — pricey but the quality makes up for it. I didn’t try the sandwiches but they do have a big variety. Overall, great experience — happy workers and clean place. The eating area isn’t too big so don’t expect to be able to eat there during busy lunch times.

High quality expensive soup that is a mean on to itself. After a while of eating at H&HS you get the sense that all the soups start tasting the same. I’m very partial to the Senegalese Chicken, Black Lentil and Tuscan White Bean. They now have sandwiches and salads too. Staff is typically efficient. You can’t possbly pick the wrong soupd becuase they let you try it before you buy it.

Go after 2. But be warned they run out of red onions constantly. I prefer this location compared to the location in Grand Central. This location is very busy, hence my suggestion to go after 2 when the lunch crowd has died down. They are very accommodating, which I appreciate. I am a loyal customer and if I am treated well, I will come back regardless of distance. But I do get irritated when I arrive and they have run out of red onions. It’s one of the free items but they can’t seem to keep«in stock» so to speak. Nice place. Be prepared to spend 20 – 30 mins of your lunch break waiting in line.

Pricey, but efficient lunch combo. I usually get the small New England Clam Chowder with half tuna salad sandwich. By the time 3pm rolls around, the store supplies literally empties out. There will be nothing left. The tuna salad sandwich is very light. And I feel there was too much potato in the clam chowder. Yep, this combo is about $ 9.

This review is based on delivery only. Note: I’ve never been to the store, I only order online and get it delivered. I’ve been a fan of Hale and Hearty’s Tomato Cheddar and Creamy Tomato with Pasta and Meatballs soup for a really long time to the point that its all I get! Its sad that they rarely have either of my favorites on the menu and shockingly, today, they had both. Tomato Cheddar is the soup of the month while the Creamy Tomato was one of the soups of the day. The soup came in just in time, unfortunately, it was cold. Yup, not warm at all :(so I had to heat it up. That was disappointing. As for the sandwiches, I was always a fan of the Tuna Melt Panini, and I’ve ordered that 3 or 4 times from here. Let me just say its very inconsistent. Once or twice it smelled funky like, either too fishy or the bread smelled. I guess why you’re wondering why this review even has a star despite everything I’ve just said. The three stars are for the sandwich I had today — the Italian Country sandwich. It was very well made. Not too cold, and not saggy at all. It was just right. So its a limited edition sandwich, and the only reason I wrote this review. If you haven’t tried it yet, go for it. But I really hope they become a little better. This place is pricey and if only their Tomato soup wasnt as good as it is, I’d never come back.

I USED to think they were a good spot for good soup… UNTIL! I got food poisoing from their Creamy Tomato pasta meatball soup! I havent been able to eat anything since eating that soup 2 days ago, and may have to go to the ER today cause the symptoms are just getting worse… I see others have had the same problem, NEVEREVER going there again! Food poisoning is so not worth that soup! no matter how good it tastes!

3.5 stars really. Delicious food, and yet I feel it’s expensive. I loved their Roasted Red Peppers, Avocado, Egg Special Sandwhich of the month, but now it’s gone. Broccoli Cheddar soup is so-so. Spinach Artichoke soup was a rich, sinful delight. Staff is not the friendliest or most attentive.

This was my first time eating at a Hale & Hearty Soups location. I had the Turkey Brie whole sandwich, which totaled $ 6.89. I also tried a bottle of Hank’s Root Beer, which totaled $ 1.90. After tax, grand total was $ 9.57. The sandwich and drink were excellent. I also enjoyed the atmosphere. The only negatives were the air conditioning, which was extremely cold, given it was in the 70s today. Also, the staff were too eager to take my order. I felt pressured to order. I enjoy taking my time when deciding what to eat, but that’s just me.

I go here for the mac and cheese soup — that’s about it. Hale and Hearty is absurdly priced but the mac and cheese soup makes it all well worth it. they also have the cajun chicken sandwich which is sadly only a special that comes on the menu at random. both items should be regulars on the menu.

Hale and Hearty was my daily ritual at noon. Loved the soups, even with the high prices. Coworkers would laugh because they knew what I was having for lunch everyday… until I got violently sick from the Basil Tomato soup last week. I was almost rushed to the hospital — I thought I was going to die from food poisoning. The next day I sent an e-mail to let them know, so that no one else would have to experience such volatile pain. And, no response from them. I can never eat here again. :(

Hale and hearty I think is sort of like a «love and hate» place. When I say«hate» I mean«It cost HOWMUCH for that ONE ingredient?!» type of hate and love because it’s a health food store that goes against the norm. This Hale and Hearty location is small(but not as small as the one in Grand Central). It gets EXTREMELY packed during the lunch time rush which is around 12:30 p.m. to about 1:30 p.m. when the big crowds come and can get pretty hectic. Before this time period the staff is relatively friendly, because like many places there are those people that just hate their jobs, but luckly the ones at this location don’t try to take it out on you. If anything the customers are ruder. All in all it’s a great place to check out when you’re in the mood for healthy salad or soup that actually taste fresh and can be customized however you want for a hefty price.

Small place with not a lot of seating and like all Hale & Hearty really overpriced but the staff was really nice, especially the guy who made the salad for my daughter and put up with her whispering her choices. She got a wacky salad and I got a sweet corn chowder and both were really good but too small.
