Sunday evening at 6PM Great vocalist, nice crowd, really good food, Poor service– 2 waiters /no bus boys for the whole restaurant. Very frustrating as the poor service nagged the good food!

I have been here about a dozen times. The food is always tasty and the service is quick and friendly. Love the beet salad and tuna tartare. Duck medallions is tremedous and risotto was very good.

My husband and I stopped here for Sunday brunch and were seated at a table by an open window, which was lovely on a warm day. Our food – we both ordered frittatas – was excellent, and attractively arranged on the plate. Our dessert, a chocolate confection whose name I can’t remember, was to die for. The service was impeccable. The bathroom was immaculate. We would definitely come here again. It is obvious that owners care a great deal about quality of food and and service.

Came here with my bf. This is a perfect spot for dates. Lovely ambiance with live classic music. I liked the chairs at the bar, very comfy. It can fit any size of butt. The food was great too! Cocktails were exceptional and for a reasonable price. I had strawberry mule and elderflower sangria. 5 stars for the overall experience.

This place is absolutely amazing! It’s a definitely a hidden gem on 1st ave. Food is great, the manager Milan offered us 10 delicious specials, from appetizers to entrees to deserts! And here comes the best part: Cocktails! Their professional mixologist is so fun and entertaining and he definitely made the best cocktails I’ve ever tried in my life! One of a kind! I highly recommend this place and can’t wait for my next experience there!

Dear Sir, We were using Vouchers won on Skyauction I feel I need to complain about the quality of service for this«A» graded restaurant. To be fair the food was all quite good, however, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Let me explain and start with that most of the problem is poor training by the manager. When we arrived we were greeted and seated at the back of the restaurant, even though the booking had clearly requested by the window, this was fixed. The waiter, who was overworked as the only waiter on the floor while the manager was busy, who offered no assistance, the waiter introduced himself and took initial drink orders. One order placed could not be filled and the entire table’s order fell off the list. Regrettably as well is that he did not serve the lady at the table first in anything he did though out the evening, a courtesy and training issue. Replacement of cutlery between courses, after finishing appetisers, we put the cutlery on the plate, the bus boy, removed them from the plate & put back on the table, we asked for new cutlery. When new cutlery, or plates arrived, there was no serving from the side, it was a matter of reaching across people After 30 minutes or more … The first course was delivered to 2 of 4 guests and quite some minutes later the other 2 dishes were presented, but not before the first 2 dishes were sent back as they had become cold from the wait. The appetisers were almost finished & the staff reached across the table to take away the plate which was still being eaten from. The air conditioning was turned off, whilst there was still 6 people in the restaurant, we got to the stage of cooking under the lights, we had to ask for the door to be opened as it was to hot in the restaurant, not a pleasant night The waiter remained the only server in the restaurant, the bus boy did help, to get the guests food to them. The waiter later apologised for earlier difficulties and throughout the night was a very pleasant person to talk to. Again I state that the food was very good. When it was time to pay the bill, we were informed that they only took cash, yet upon leaving the establishment, an American Express Credit Card is welcome here sign was clearly visible on the front door. I wanted to pay by credit and am most annoyed by this. The manager when later challenged about why the Credit Card was not accepted wanted to redo the transaction but I declined as it was too little, too late. This has point a spoiler on an otherwise quite pleasant evening amongst our New York hosts, we were all upset over the evening, to the point our hosts, will never return there, even though he is the CEO of a large TV Network in New York Accordingly, I would rate the overall experience as B+ with a need for better training apparently lacking from the manager of Grata Restaurant. This complaint has been placed on Tripadvisor, also American Express regarding refusing to accept the card & yourselves

I hosted my husband’s 40th surprise birthday party this past Saturday night at Grata, and it was a resounding success. I planned very early and Aida and Mirso, the owners, were very helpful throughout the entire process. In particular, I appreciated the flexibility they gave me to be as involved as I was, and allowed me to make all sorts of adjustments/additions/special requests, all of which made the party very personal. The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect. It was a cool evening so the doors were open to the street, which was wonderful. We had live music(keyboard, vocals and stand up bass) which made the event even more classy. Alex, one of the waiters, was at our service throughout the whole event– continually refreshing cocktails and finding ways to make the evening more spectacular by the minute. I would absolutely consider hosting another event at Grata!

I decided not to remove a star for the location. If u don’t look out the window, you could be anywhere having an amazing meal. The spinach salad, mushroom risotto, and duck were terrific. The service was attentive. There weren’t many there on a Thursday night, but i won’t let that change Mt review of the service and food. The music and decisions were also nice. I can’t judge the prices because i don’t live here.

We had dinner at Grata last night. The food was amazingly fresh and nicely presented. The staff could not have been more friendly! The atmosphere was pleasing as well. We were nicely surprised to know that they have a trio who plays there most nights, which totally added to experience. The only reason I did not give this delightful eatery 5 stars, is the location is a bit noisy. This they really have no control over, but totally worth going there! A real gem of a restaurant! Go there, you will be happy.

I went here with a very large party and we had a 4-course prix fixe menu already lined up. But the set up for our group was awkward and there was a lot missing from the service. They kept bring out each course at different times, with some people at our table not receiving their entrée until everyone was done. it was so hard to place a drink order or even get your water glass refilled. their food was decent, but nothing stood out as amazing. If it weren’t for the really good salmon I had, I would have just given this place 1 star.

At $ 51(including tax + tip) for two entrees(butternut squash ravioli and monkfish special), this place was underwhelming and overpriced. The décor is nice enough and the service was somewhat prompt but the cost is just not worth it. It was about half full on a Friday night at 7pm. The server initially served us the wrong food which meant they had to start the ravioli when they should have been serving it. Still, it came out pretty quickly thereafter. The raviloi was actually quite tasty but the fish was kind of bland. The ravioli would have been worth it if it was priced at say $ 15 and not $ 21. The bread for the table was pretty good but nothing to write home about. If they’d lower their prices about 25−30%, I may come back to hear the live music that other reviews have mentioned. Otherwise, there are better options in the neighborhood.

Came for an event. Wish they would have opened up more of the restaurant for the event as the floor space was crowded and the dining area NOT. The $ 10 house red was good, the $ 10 house white was NOT. This place is located pretty far out. . almost on the water!

This was the worst. 10 of us for brunch on Sunday in an empty restaurant. Didn’t have the champagne on the menu. Charged our credit cards wrong and now I’m fighting a $ 170 charge. This place should be shut down. They did not care a bit about service m

My party came here on a Sunday night with only a few tables filled. Our waiter was very attentive(and surprisingly has a great singing voice as he sang«Happy Birthday» for another table). Drink orders were taken right away, and a complimentary bread basket followed shortly after. There were no inconsistencies with the service. The décor is modern with a lot of dark wood, and the lighting is dim and intimate but still bright enough that I can read my menu and see what I’m eating. The restaurant labels itself as Mediterranean, but there are a lot of Italian items on the menu as well. Here are some things I had: –Mediterranean eggplant spread: I did not find this creamy, as the description says. It was a quite small portion too. –Charred baby octopus: Very tasty but that night it was on the chewy/tough side, and some nights it’s not. –Grilled Scottish salmon: Delicious! It wasn’t dry or overcooked, and the sides it came with were pretty good also. –Braised kale: I love kale anyway it’s cooked really, and the way it was prepared was excellent. Overall, I would give this place another try and I would like to come back again to try other dishes.

Interesting place. Brought our salads and entrée without asking what we wanted or without offering a menu. Food was so so. Not sure I would ever return. They are much better places in the area. The bright side… the live music and singing was phenomenal. The 2nd star is for the music only.

I am rather surprised with some of the comments listed here. Maybe I happened to go on a good day, but we were happy with the service and food we got. I do have to agree that they are probably still trying to figure out what direction the place is supposed to take. They were working on changing up the restaurant a bit as we walked in this place. Initially my husband and I walked in thinking that we try their brunch menu. We decided to take the regular menu instead. I had salmon with kale and he had lamb with quinoa. Bread was nicely toasted and(partially because we were only customers at the time on the main dining side, I must disclose) we received very friendly good service. Food size was very generous and very well done. My husband doesn’t even like quinoa that much but he ate all of it. They can definitely do a better job with their website to expose their restaurant a bit more and explain their concept. I sincerely wish them best of luck as they define their character and direction.

Initially, Grata seems great. My friend had been wanting to try it so we went in for a late lunch with her two month old son. Lucky for us, there was only a small table of women dining at that time. The two stars do not in any way reflect the service. On the contrary, our waiter was nice, hospitable and amenable. I just didn’t love the food… or the fact that about halfway through our meal, we saw flies buzzing near our table … or how the restaurant overcharged my credit card. Three Strikes? You … are … so … out
