great food, have never been disappointed. I always get the lamb or the salmon, a little pricey for lunch but the quality of meat is worth every penny. highly recommended if you like Persian food or kebabs.

I had lunch there. This place is just amazing. The best Babaganush I ever had. The chicken kabab is just insane. I really can’t wait to go again.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Food was great, service was good. Their hummus is excellent. I got the chicken sultani which comes with a cubed chicken kabob and a ground chicken kabob. I liked the cubed chicken better, but the ground chicken was good too. Everything is seasoned well and the chicken isn’t dry at all, which always a concern. It came with basmati rice and a whole grilled onion tomato. Very good all around, I’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic Persian food. The Babaganoush is probably the best I’ve ever had. The kabobs are delisious. The best thing is the amazing flat bread. It is hot and fresh and so good.

Great food! Got the eggplant appetizer(kashk bademjan) and the hummus. Both were excellent. Hummus came with chopped fresh vegetables and herbs on top – a nice touch. I got carry out but service was fast and friendly. I will definitely return.

I came here with a group of colleagues for lunch Wednesday, and had an enjoyable experience. Ordering shares of the gormeh sazi, mirza ghasemi, salad olvie, and kashk bademjoon to start, I barely had room for the polo, fesenjoon, and kabab that was to follow. The appetizers were all full of flavor, and the naan that accompanied them tasty at that. While the meat in the fesenjoon was tender, the sauce itself was a bit too sweet for my taste; however, the kabab was delicious. For dessert we ordered baklava and Persian tea, which was a sweet way to end the meal. Furthermore, both the service and the ambiance were nice. All in all, Ravagh is as good as it gets.

This is a very good restaurant. I’ve only had Persian food once before. Although I’ve had Turkish and Afghan food numerous times. I started with a cocktail which I rarely do in a restaurant(too cheap).I had a martini with pomegranate juice and I liked it. They serve bread with a yogurt and I think a cilantro based sauce. There is a useful spice on the table which I think is Sumac. For appetizers we split the Green Stuffed Pepper(lamb and rice) which is excellent and highly recommended. We also had Sambuesh, good fried dumplings. As a main course I had Ghourmeh Sabzi, a beef stew with a pronounced dried lemon flavor and very green color. I loved it. The waiter who was very nice seemed to think it might be too green and dried lemony. But I feared not because A) I’ve seen dried lemons in Kaluystan and other places and B) Melissa Clark from the New York Times keeps raving about them. My dining companion had a good Lamb shank .i washed it down with Sierra Nevada and water and finished with Turkish Coffee. For dessert we had Baklava and some form of doughnut, all good ! I had dinner here on a weekday night. Service is efficient and congenial as well as fairly prompt. Although I should note we hit early because we were going to a show. Prices are reasonable. The place is a little cramped and plain but that was of no importance.

Amazing experience. Definitely try it! For lunch, I shared a meal with my mom. We had: Appetizer: Sambuseh Lunch:Barg Kebob(a beef kebab) and Khoresh Fesenjan(chicken stew with pomegranate) Dessert: saffron ice cream and rose water with cherry ice cream(I don’t remember the traditional names) Drinks: Persian Black tea and Turkish coffee Details: Appetizer– 3 stars, it was decent similar to somosas. I prefer the indian and ethiopian/eritrean versions of this meal. It’s a chickpea blend in fried dough. This was my least favorite food but still decent. Lunch: 5 stars; Both meals were amazing. I don’t normally like beef, but the kebob was hands-down the best meat I’ve ever had in a restaurant. We had it medium-well done. It was juicy and wasn’t too chewy. The texture was perfect. The chicken stew with pomegranate was an interesting blend of flavors. The chicken was moist and tasty. The sauce was a bit sweet but I liked the combination of sweet and savory. Both meals came with rice which was good. It also came with salad and soup. The lentil soup was very good and the salad was fresh with good dressing. Dessert: 5 stars; the dessert was amazing. the waiter let us order two desserts as one, which was perfect because we were stuffed. My favorite was the safron ice cream. It had nuts in it. It was creamy and wasn’t too sweet. The rose water ice cream was a bit too sweet for me but it was still very good. The rose water ice cream comes with fresh lemon and cherries so that you can make the taste less sweet. The drinks were great and freshly brewed Our waiter was AMAZING as well. He explained everything in a very detailed way and was very sweet! Amazing service!

I have been going to Ravagh since there were at the other uptown location and have loved the food at both places. Serving sizes are generous, food is delicious and reasonably priced. My favorites are the flat bread but even more so the sauces that come with the bread, the barg and koobideh kabab. I have tried the stews, all delicious, the appetizers all of them, great. The salads are even more incredible. My hubby and I often get the combo plate and even with our biggest appetites take some of it home. The option of getting grilled vegatables instead of rice is a great touch for me. I love the faloodeh it’s an odd dessert to me, because it is served with lime and while eating you get a gentle crunch from the noodles but one shouldn’t deny themselves the experience. Give it a try won’t be disappointed. Oh and at lunch the soup is delicious!

Average rating for average food. The Saffron ice cream was perhaps the worst thing we purchased here. It tasted much more like Kulfi Indian ice cream. The doogh was just as bad too. Way too watery and EXTREMELY salty to the point we couldn’t swallow it down anymore. The koobideh was decent, but the spices weren’t as particularly strong as I’ve had at other places. The restaurant itself is extremely cramped, but hey, it’s New York. Can’t complain. Menu prices also followed the New York lifestyle as well.

First time trying Persian food and I was impressed! Very flavorful dishes and HUGE portions. My party of 3 ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees and it was more than enough food. No wait on a Sunday afternoon and service was polite and prompt. I would return in the future!

Outstanding! The food is simply outstanding here. I went here for lunch today and every single thing is delicious starting with the bread(Omg, it kills my low carb diet… I cannot resist it!!!), the soup(or salad… sometimes I get that) and then the perfectly cooked chicken kabob. The entrée comes with rice or grilled vegetables which are grilled to perfection. Loved this place when they were further uptown and still love love love the food here at 62nd street. Very enjoyable. I think great for business lunch or a romantic date. Great place.

They have really good food. I go there with my family a lot. The atmosphere is nice but I find it difficult to go there during the winter season. The constant opening and closing of the door makes it hard to enjoy the food because it gets very cold and we end up freezing. The staff can be rude sometimes, one waitress kept correcting our pronunciation when ordering and then she would roll her eyes when we would ask for something. Same goes for when I order a delivery; they always seem impatient and annoyed, as if I’m asking for a favor! overall great food but terrible staff.

We went there a few nights ago and what we saw was much better than the pictures online. The inside is cozy with nice music. The food was great(we tried Koobideh and Gheymeh) and the amount was more than enough. The appetizers were great and generous. Waiters were polite, caring and non-pushy. Tonight we tried Persepolis which is another Persian restaurant in the same neighborhood but it wasn’t as great as Ravagh and much more expensive. We had some cake that we wanted to taste after food and the waiters provided us separate plastic ware and never asked us to leave sooner for the next customer. I definitely suggest trying Ravagh.

Yo, man, the first time I ate here I thought for sure it was gonna be my spot. It passed the Alexander the Great Lentil Soup Test with flying colors. Of restaurants I’ve eaten at whose cuisines come from countries once conquered by Alexander the Great, the lentil soup here was maybe the best I’ve had. It was haunt you in your dreams good. Like flowery and citrusy with a nice olive oil drizzle. But ever since that first time, the soup hasn’t had the same zip, and wasn’t blended quite as smoothly. I don’t know, maybe it had been sitting around all day. Maybe you have to come at lunch time to get the fresh stuff, I don’t know. I’ve had a few of the stews, which are alright, and I like the sauces they serve with the bread for starters, but at 15 – 30 dollars/plate, there are better values around for hearty entrees. Definitely worth a try, and I imagine a place like this has at least another gem or two besides the lentil soup on the menu somewhere.

I’ve a big fan of Persian food and have visited almost all Ravagh branches, but this one far exceeds all the others combined. The space itself is a bit small and intimate, however the food is just incredible. We shared a Mixed Kabob platter which could actually feed several. The babaganoush and hummus was also on point. The staff was to a very high standard and very courteous. It’s become one of my favorite spots. Can’t wait til I return!

Definitely there’s lack of Persian management in this place! We got a burned pita bread, raw Koobideh kabab and hard as a rock Lamb Shish kabab! There won’t be a next visit, I’d rather expend my money for an authentic Persian food somewhere else!

Hard day at work & all we did, was dream of Ravagh, Ravagh & Ravagh. It’s exactly what you get! Dreamy food! Taste of ancient spices which takes you back in time. After a bite, you know you’re in the right place. Everything on the menu is perfectly presented. Starting with the rice and onwards. You will appreciate the meal and want to return once again. We did!

This was possibly my first time every going to a Persian restaurant. I’ve had some Persian food home cooked by some friends in college, but I’d never gone out for it. The flat bread that they serve right away is amazing. I’m not sure what they do to it, but damn it is addictive. It also comes with a thin yoghurt and dill sauce, and what appears to be a spicy cilantro«schug» type dip. As others have mentioned, it’s easy to get full on this. We didn’t realize that the white sauce was coming with the bread(should have read Unilocal more carefully), so we ordered the Mast Khiar — Yoghurt with Cucumber and Mint. It was delicious and I could eat a whole bowl, but didn’t seem necessary. It did end up being a great dip for my Salmon Kebab and Fries for the main course. The fish was perfectly seasoned and wasn’t dry at all. Very moist in fact. The grilled tomato on the side was perfectly charred and juicy. The grilled onion was nice, but not the best part of the plate. The downside, which is also an upside, is that the portion sizes are huge. We probably should have gotten one main and 2 or 3 sides to share. Will be back!

Good service, REALLYGOODSOUP. TRYTHEIRSOUP, don’t get the salad with your entrée. Entrée is a lot of food. I got the salmon kebob — 2 servings of salmon came with a delicious mustard sauce, a side of vegetables or rice, and essentially grilled tomatoes as a side. Well portioned and a lot of food for a meal. I would really recommend trying their tea. I had no idea Persian tea was so great until I had it here.

Service was very attentive. The bread they serve(unlimited) is delicious and chewy. Throw in the yogurt dip and herb sauce… I could get full just eating that. In fact, I did exactly that. — arugula salad was tastefully balanced — chicken strip kabobs were a little dry for my liking, but had a good marinade — the trout was flaky but also a little dry. Used the herb sauce that came with the bread which made it drool worthy. The grilled veggies were on point(although how can that ever go wrong?) — eggplant with tomato appetizer was yum! Although the tomato flavors overpowered the eggplant a bit — hummus was pretty good too although not the best I’ve ever had. Overall, would I trek back to this area just for this restaurant? Probably not. But if I’m in the area, I’d highly consider it.

Oh my goodness. Their baba ganoush(there are so many ways to spell it … they spell it Babaganoosh). Quite possibly … no, I’m going to say DEFINITIVELY that this is the BEST baba ganoush I have ever had in my life and I have had baba ganoush from quite a few places. So incredibly smoky and rich with flavor. I have ordered this both times that I’ve gotten delivery from Ravagh and I will always get it when I order … or I might just get the baba ganoush and nothing else! Because it’s that good. I’m drooling just thinking about it. The only thing about ordering from here before is the vegetable kabob dish. There wasn’t a skewer for these«kabobs» but that wasn’t a big deal. I opted to get the grilled vegetables on the side(instead of rice or French fries), but it seemed to be the exact same vegetables and they forgot to include the hummus that supposedly came along with it. Either that or they gave me a side of grilled vegetables and forgot the vegetable kabob dish itself. I’m not sure. Regardless, I felt like I paid way too much for what I got. Don’t get me wrong — the grilled veggies were delicious … slightly charred and very flavorful with some great spices. But I just expected more. I have yet to eat at the restaurant as I’ve only gotten their food delivered. At least the delivery is always within a reasonable amount of time and the food arrives in good quality. But the baba ganoush. Seriously. Get it.

Solid, well-portioned, flavorful Persian food. I’ve had a lot of Persian food having lived in LA for 4 years. This is among the better that I’ve tasted. We had a really early dinner so were the only ones there. This restaurant actually has two long seating rooms, which I liked because it felt more intimated. We sat at the table right by the open sliding doors. Very New York. In any case, we just shared a beef stew dish and a chicken shish kebab. Both were wonderful. The beef stew had lentils, and came with a healthy serving of rice. The chicken shish kebab was large, and the chicken was moist and tender, pre-sliced. Instead of rice for this dish, I got the grilled veggies. Absolutely the right choice. The zucchini, peppers, tomato, and onions were perfectly grilled. Bravo. All the meals came with home-made flatbread and two dipping sauces. I was starving, so this was perfect. Overall a successful meal with good prices for what you get — which is high quality.

This place is always packed. Probably because the food is fresh and authentic. The service is not as good as the food. The waiters always seem distracted and I’ve been there when it’s crowded and not so crowded. The chicken kebabs are really good. I’ve also gotten the salmon and we have tried steak too. Their Mediterranean chopped salad with chicken is also one of my favorites. They give you so much chicken! Really good bang for your buck.

My friend invited me to this restaurant during my recent visit to NY. Like a lot of locations in the upper east side, this is conveniently located near public transport but finding non-garage parking is tricky. The restaurant is cozy and the décor is modern with middle-eastern influences. Typical of a lot of Manhattan restaurants, tables are small but seating is comfortable. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was excellent — really good flavors and generous portions.

Since Nowruz is coming soon, I decided to eat at a Persian/Iranian restaurant with my buddy. The Red Lentil Soup is delicious with subtle flavors of spices. The Kebob dishes are served with white Basmati rice, grilled onion & tomato. I ordered the Vegetarian Kebob and substituted the white rice for the Zereshk Polo: barberries, currants & saffron mixed with Basmati rice. I really like the rice, it has a lemony taste which makes it appetizing. The Albaloo Polo: sweet & sour cherries mixed with Basmati rice is sweet. The cherries are plump and moist.
