The food is pretty good, prices are«slightly» high and the workers are horrible. Tonight I placed an order for delivery, I ordered the beef and green peppers, a wonton soup, and crab with pork soup dumplings. All of the food was pretty good and came out to almost $ 28 which I thought was slightly high considering there was only one entrée and the entrée had way more green peppers than beef. The pepper to beef ratio was 5:1 The soup dumplings were surprisingly decent and the wonton soup was pretty standard handmade wontons. The delivery arrived within the expected time frame and the guy was very rude. I handed him $ 33, he glanced at it briefly and says loudly«$ 28!» So I looked at him and say«yeah, that’s $ 33!» He looked at it again and gave me a dirty look like he didn’t think it was good enough. I thought he was pretty rude and that was a good tip considering they’re just a few blocks away from me and servers usually get 20%

FINALLY a reliable Chinese take out spot! Once you try this spot you won’t want to go back to the other neighborhood take out places. The sesame chicken, fried dumplings, and chicken lo mien are all solid.

Meh, really not impressed with the food. Service, ambience, etc was fine, and I will preface by saying I just spent five months in China, including a week in Sichuan. On the good side, the mapo dofou was great, highly recommend. Spring rolls were also solid but nothing of out of the ordinary. The xiaolongbao was definitely skippable as was the chicken dish we ordered(Empress chicken I think?). We got a couple more things that I can’t remember anymore. Overall, very meh.

Good«authentic» Chinese food. I say«authentic» bc I’ve never been to China nor have had real homemade Chinese food. However, this place tastes like what I imagine authentic Chinese food should taste like. It’s a good standby, dishes are either good or amazing. Ive heard ppl complain ab the salt… but like c’mon it’s Chinese food! Comes with the territory. I’d recommend the pork soup dumplings and red cooking ribs. All amazing and delicious. Nice quiet space too.

I am a native Sichuanese… if u want to have authentic or even decent Sichuan food, this is not the place u should go for. It has become a American Chinese restaurant without American style service. The chongqing spicy chicken is so sweet. I can even taste the sugar they put into. really horrible and unhealthy. The spicy beef and tripe is very salty. U can tell the cook doesn’t care. The price is not cheap at all. the Tang yuan is 3 dollar for 4. I should go a little further to go to the Hot Kitchen. so much better.

came here for valentines day dinner and ordered a variety of things. service was fast, not attentive, but when you got their attention they quickly responded. we ordered– pork soup dumplings– pretty good. it was nice that the soup didn’t burn my mouth immediately spare ribs– big ribs, nicely seared dan dan noodles– hot spicy and full of flavor, one of my favorites of the meal general tso’s– bf said he’s had better else where Gui Zhou Spicy Chicken– really good, chicken was so crispy with just the right amount of spice overall they rocked in the sichuan specialities. i’d come back here again for those dan dan noodles. prices were a bit above average, particularly on the dumplings. this was offset by the cheap glasses of house red($ 6.50).

Authentic Sichuan cuisine down to the service. If your Chinese food repertoire consists mainly of fried rice and sweet and sour pork and the occasional«exotic» soup dumpling, this place is probably not for you. If you’re expecting to be treated nicely, answered patiently and smiled sweetly at, this place is also, probably not for you. If you want real, mouth numbing authentic flavor from China’s spiciest province, come on in. It’s brash, it’s bold, it’s homespun and for anyone who has ever been to China, it’s keeps it real. Real in terms of the the heaping hand fulls of peppercorn(THANKYOUFORNOTFEARINGSPICE!) to it’s brusque, efficient waitstaff(who if you persist in being nice to them, just might smile back at you… maybe). Be adventurous here. The Shui Zhu Yu(Oil poached fish) comes in a giant, chilli oil filled bowl of tender fish, cabbage and bean sprouts. Hot and delicious, it packs a flavor punch and is as good as any I’ve had in the mainland. The ma po tofu is similarly aggressive in heat with soft chunks of tofu swimming in a deep delicious sauce. The mouth watering chicken comes under a small pile of chopped peanuts and cilantro. It will definitely make your mouth water, and your eyes and your nose but it’ll be worth it. The sauteed lotus root offered a bit of respite from hot on hot with a hearty helping of lotus chunks, beautifully crispy with a great tang. All this was scarfed down with bowl of fragrant white rice. The only disappointment of the night was the hot and sour soup. Too peppery and not enough depth, it was the only dish that remained unfinished after the feast. The table behind us had ordered four helpings of General Tso’s. The dish looked serviceable enough but it seems silly when faced with a candy store of options to fill up only with mints.

We wanted to try out the different Grand Sichuans, since they are connected in some way but not the same. This one in the Village has a nice atmosphere with quiet, relaxed staff. Their Suan La Fen is listed as ‘Hot and Sour Mung Bean Noodle’ — some places use sweet potato noodle instead. The broth on their tasted different than at any other place I’ve tried it. IT was a single serving instead of family-sized. The noodles were incredible! Super bouncy. This one is topped with toasted soybeans and has pea shoots in it, which I love. The chongqing chicken looks like the kind I dislike based on the photos, so we had the guangzhou chicken instead. Very good. Beef with pepper was very good. Both were a little less spicy and a little more sweet than when ordered at other Sichuan restaurants. I was surprised to not immediately find Ma Po Tofu on the menu, they’ve got to have it!

Pretty good spot to stop in for a meal! Service is always friendly and efficient, and food is reasonably priced. It’s not my first choice in the area, but it’s good choice f you’ve got a group — lots of room at this place! Good dumplings!

In my opinion, they overdo it on the sichuan peppercorns. I am not adverse to the peppercorns, but it’s just… too…much Everything the peppercorns touched is numb. From my mouth all the way down to you know… 3 stars for speedy and friendly delivery.

Really not impressed with food from here after recent meal. My friend said this place was kool so I believed her… duhhhhhh she is 21 what does she know about food geees. Plus she is vegetarian and I am a carnivore — subliminal wanna be vegetarian sometimes. Lol I looked at menu and decided on Mei Fun with Vegetable Fried Rice what a friggin joke. When ordering I told the waiter let me have the mei fun with vegetable fried rice. he said no… I was like what… I said again the Mei Fun #33 with finger pointed to Vegetable Fried Rice which you get choice of different types of rice he said no… what the fuck is this the 3 stooges you dumb m****r f****r.But then I said oooohh give me Vegetable Mei Fun he was like ok. The meal was not great they dont even put any rice in the dish or like having it served on the side. I dont care if this is american chinese… chinese chinese… mexican chinese… this place sucks. There was no rice in the meal what a complete fail and rip off!!! I got my left overs to go and gave it too a homeless person cause why waste food that was paid for. The scallion pancakes were another joke oily and small. There are much better places in the area to be served decent food for the same price they charge here. Pass Pass Pass save your time and money avoid this place at all costs!!!

Decent-quality and better-than-average quantity lunch special pickup of L15. Diced Lotus Roots(Lunch) $ 6.95 How Spicy?: Spicy Make it With: Shrimp($ 1.00 Extra) Choice of Rice: Vegetable Fried Rice Choice of Side: Coke Not a side option so got the Corn Egg Drop Soup $ 2.50 a la carte(very perplexed what made the ‘corn’ qualifier in Corn Egg Drop Soup… until I hit paydirt: 4 kernels of corn at the bottom.) Unfortunately the sharp edges of their low-quality plasticware cut my mouth apart.

This review is based solely on delivery. I have ordered from them thrice now and each time I was more than pleasantly surprised. The one dish I can swear by are their dan dan noodles. Surprisingly, not a lot of good delivery options in the area of you’re trying to get some good dan dan. Well, search no more– this place has got it under control. Great portion, super tasty, spicy, and the bok Choy it comes with– delish!

This is my favorite Sichuan restaurant in NYC. Their sweet and sour fish(song zi Yu) is amazing and I always order it. I also like the dan dan noodle, pretty authentic, unlike many other Sichuan restaurant that put heavy peanut sauce on it. Most dishes are pretty good, but the Hunan dish such as hui Guo ruo shouldn’t be ordered here. I recommend only order Sichuan dishes. It’s on at mark and around NYU. After I graduated, haven’t got a chance to come back :(

TERRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE– DONOTORDERDELIVERYFROMTHISPLACEUNLESSYOUWANTTOLOSEYOURMONEYANDBECALLED A LIAR. And I can say this because I have been a somewhat regular customer of this restaurant for several years now, loyally forking over my hard-earned cash whenever I’ve had a craving for spicy sichuan. Unfortunately, the restaurant’s complete lack of customer service and unprofessional behavior will definitely have me steering clear from now on. Here’s what happened: yesterday night, my husband and I decided to treat ourselves and order in some Chinese. We paid for about $ 50 worth of food through Seamless, which included a $ 6 large chicken soup for two. However, when I received my order, I noticed that they had included an empty, quart-sized soup container with tiny bits of chicken in it, but no broth! Clearly, whoever had packed the food had forgotten to ladle the soup into the container before putting it in the bag. Strange thing to forget, but I figured I would just call, let them know of the error, and have them send another one over. Easy fix, right? WRONG!!! I called the restaurant and politely explained the issue to the woman who answered the phone. She then put me on hold and said she needed to check with the kitchen. When she came back on the phone, she proceeded to tell me that I WASWRONG and the kitchen guys told her they had sent me the soup. Taken aback by this response, I repeated AGAIN that they had forgotten to include the broth in the soup container, and that the easiest thing to do would just send another one. She put me on hold for another several minutes, then came back and ONCEAGAIN told me I WASWRONG, that they had in fact sent me the soup, and that they were not going to do anything about it. At this point I was getting pretty heated. I asked to speak to someone else and a man came on the line and FORTHENEXT10MINS, argued with me and told me that I was wrong, and that they were not going to send another soup, or even REFUNDTHEAMOUNT I HADPAID. I was in complete shock and told them I would report them to Seamless. When he heard this, the man got scared, backtracked, and FINALLY(after I had been on the phone with them at this point for 20 mins) offered to send over a new soup. I refused and demanded a refund. He then assured me that he would call Seamless and take the soup off my order. So of course, today I decided to call Seamless myself and see if the restaurant had in fact taken the soup off my order. Guess what? THERESTAURANTHADN’T DONE A THING. Seamless of course was kind enough to refund the $ 6, but that wasn’t the issue to begin with. The damage had been done. NEVERAGAIN will I order from this cheap horrible place who doesn’t respect their customers and tries to cheat them out of a few bucks. EATHEREATYOUROWNRISK!

This place serves, despite appearances, authentic Sichuan food. I’m actually pretty depressed that I didn’t hit up this place more when I lived a block away. I came here this past weekend when I didn’t make it to my go-to Sichuan place — Lan Sheng — before closing time. I was in the area for drinks and dying for some Sichuan, and I abhor Hot Kitchen, and Han Dynasty was packed, per usual. I came here with zero expectations and was seriously astounded at the authenticity of the food. We ordered the mapo tofu, chong qing dry and spicy chicken, spicy mung bean noodles, pork fried dumplings, and wontons in chili oil — the usual. The mapo tofu was more on the black bean side than I’m used to, but it had that spicy(spices, not heat), meaty, texture you’ll find at the more authentic places. The tingly mung bean noodles, which I’ve only enjoyed at Lan Sheng(though tried everywhere), isn’t quite the jelly texture I’m used to, but the flavor was amazing. The chong qing chicken was likewise flavorful, though maybe not as dry as I’d hoped. I’m confident in saying that this is the best Sichuan you’ll find in the area(Han Dynasty has a trendier vibe, but the food is a little too spicy and not as flavorful). Keep in mind that this review does not take the service into account(it was horrendous).

I am very picky when it comes to authentic Asian food, especially Chinese but this place tasted just like back in the mainland! We ordered the pork soup dumplings to start, beef chow fun, beer duck, pork belly, and sliced beef to share amongst three people. The serving size was very generous, we had more than enough and even leftovers. The soup dumplings were good, but the skin was a little thicker than normal, but that made it a little easier to eat as it didn’t pop with the slightest touch. The duck and sliced beef were cooked in a spicy oily sauce making it very authentic and quite tasty(I wish it was a little spicier), all the meat were cooked to perfection where they were soft but not overdone. For the food I would give it a 5 star but the service was a little slow and in the end it seemed as the waiters were trying to rush us out, but that could have been because of the Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner rush. But I will definitely be back!

This place was good for standard chinese food — I liked the king pao chicken, fried rice and bok Choy. Wished it was on the spicier side though. Also, the alcohol is subpar so save yourself the calories there.

What a wonderful gem in a sea of overrated overpriced shitty restaurants in the village. My friends and I were drinking at the Grassroots Tavern across the street, and we decided to go grab some food and bring it back with us to accompany our cheap $ 4 drinks. Most of our group headed to the falafel place, but a friend and I decided to deviate and head to Grand Sichuan. And of course I got the mapo tofu, which is the only thing I ever want to get. He got the pork fried rice. Yes, I asked them to make it as spicy as possible. And it was SOOO good. As good as my favorite Szechuan spot in Chicago, Lao Szechuan. It was not as spicy as I’d like(I had a white friend with me. That’s what happens when you have white people in your group. It’s ok) but it was quite spicy for your average person. I asked everyone at my table to help themselves, and everyone took a taste, and then apologetically kept creeping back to my bowl to grab little bites. It was completely irresistible to everyone. I usually hate dishes like pork fried rice(American Chinese food) but I took a bite of my friend’s and it was great. Who cares of something is authentic or not as long as it’s delicious? I can’t wait to be back for more Mapo tofu. And soup dumplings! And maybe even other things.. .

I have this theory that restaurants with Christmas lights are always surpsiringly superb and Grand Sichuan, with their inexplicable tree in the middle of the restaurant holds up to this. The pork and veggie dumplings were good, above average but not something I’d go back just for. The soup dumplings were incredible though. The skin was soggy and delicious and the broth was a symphony of flavor. I didn’t get much crab taste in them, but they were still delicious. Service was a bit gruff with a server yelling that the veggie dumplings were pork four times, then coming back and yelling they were pork. A bit cramped, but they seated our party of 10 very quickly and the table, complete with huge lazy Susan was great.
