I have been to this store many times. As a teenager I would roam around but didn’t have any money to buy things– and please remember that this store has authentic Tibetan items, there are many places in NYC to haggle– this is not a place to do that. I visit here about once a year. I speak with Sam, the owner, who has the most beautiful soul and energy. Take the time to speak with him, but more importantly, take the time to listen. He truly is an example of what it is to be loving and compassionate. His words mean so much to me I wish I had him on speed dial. This is a store to shop and find treasures for years to come. Be mindful that it is a spiritual experience for some people. Have respect when shopping here. I think I will continue to shop here for years to come. I treasure everything I have purchased here.

This store features not only beautiful textiles and clothing from Tibet, Nepal and India, but also gorgeous jewelry, crystals, incense, music and other decorative items. I’ve purchased numerous pants, shirts, scarves and other gifts here, and all have held up well. The proprietor, Sam, has the most beautiful spirit — take the time to stop and speak with him and you will be blessed. I visit this shop each time I’m in NYC, which is every 2 to 4 years. Sam actually remembered me this time even though my last visit was 3.5 years ago.

I was advised to visit Mandala from a few friends to pick out some Tibetan style clothing for a party I was attending and was extremely grateful for the recommendation. Not only was the selection vast considering the store’s relative small size, Sam, who helped us(and I think owns/runs the shop) was very helpful and overtly friendly. The store has a really pleasant vibe to it and I will definitely return. Keep up the great work, and thanks again Sam!

This is a great little Tibetian(art and religious artifact store) on St. Marks in the East Village.(St. Marks is worth the trip all by itself.) We were looking for, of all things, incense. There’s a great selection of Tibetian prayer flags, Hindu religious artifacts and statutes of the Buddha. However, the owner was greatly helpful and his kind spirit is as much of a reason to go. If you are looking for something different — or Tibetian — this is a great little stop in the East Village.

Lovely little store in the East Village full of all sorts of trinkets, incense, jewelry, clothing, etc. I went in looking for mala beads — they had a small selection of Tibetan prayer beads that I admired, but the price wasn’t in my range and I wasn’t up for haggling, so no purchase was made. I was able to browse in peace, which I appreciate immensely(I like to think my purchases though.) It’s a fun shop to browse through while wandering the E. Village — you never know what little gem will catch your eye here. Definitely don’t miss it. Cheers!

Went in today to get a scarf for my friend’s bday. I was pleasantly surprised at the the selection with price points ranging from 10 to about 40. The store also has a good selection of jewelry and clothing. The owner was very nice, even trusting us in the store for a moments by ourselves.

Stopped in today as it was highly recommended. The shopkeep was so kind and allowed me to look about in peace. She even adjusted sizes on three bracelets for me. I also fell in love with a CD playing and have now learned about another artist. This place is a solace and I am so glad I came. I’ll be back.

Mandala has always been good to me. I shop here every time I come to NYC, and have been coming here almost 10 years. Even if you didn’t plan to go the East Village, it’s worth the trip to shop here – a great addition to the«mall» that is St. Mark’s Place!

Went to find a bracelet and ended up both with a bracelet and a beautiful teaching on meditation and compassion by the store owner. This store has the typical stock of Tibetan prayer beads, bracelets, rings, etc. at fair prices. I bought a scarf for $ 30 at the Tibetan store on Prince St., yet they had the same scarf at Mandala Tibetan Store for $ 10! A great place.

Grabbed some incense here, it is great! Much better than the cheap, crappy-smelling stuff I’ve picked up in Chinatown. You can definitely haggle here, do it! I’m a freak about trying to get a few dollars off. There are some interesting things to look at in here, if you are into Tibetan stuff, or want a pretty shawl, this is the place. I’d go back for more incense.

This is another tiny little shop that gets lost in the sea of shop at St. Marks. However, if you are not rushed to meet someone for dinner and have the time to look around, it is truly fantastic inside. The shop owner is super nice and the prices are really low. The jewelry is unique, intricate, and quality metals. The felted wool accessories are very unique, and I love the children’s items. My favorite thing here is the traditional shoes with pointed toes. There is something about the aesthetic of the Tibetan region and traditional dressing that fascinates me.

Very friendly staff who let me try on jewelry to my hearts content. Service was so friendly that they brought a chair out for my mother! Helped us out with backs for earrings. Beautiful items. I do go into every Tibet store. This was the most friendly. Owner was honest about what items were really from the region and what was not.

I’ve never been into a Tibetan store so I cannot compare it to any other. I was just roaming the street, which by the way has a lot of interesting little shops, and I came across this little store. It’s pretty small, but there is merchandise packed everywhere. I spent most of my time hovering over the display with the pendants. They have a VAST array of jewelry which were different from anything I’ve seen before and they all look authentic. The person who was minding the store that day was very friendly, but didn’t push me at all to buy anything which I love because. thats just a really big turn off and even if I WANT to buy something I just high tail it out of there if they get too aggressive. Anyways while I was browsing I chit chatted with him and it was all a very pleasant experience. I’m definitely going back when I need a new Om pendant or something. Oh and price ranges from $ 5 for a pendant to like $ 45.

As with most Tibetan stores I stumble across(and have an urge to enter) in the village, the items here are still overpriced but are by far the lowest prices I have seen. Bangles for a dollar? Other stores can’t quite touch that. Besides, the store doesn’t have the overpowering musky incense-like smell that I usually encounter and everything is nicely displayed and clean.
