The service here left much to be desired. It was difficult to track down the waiter, and he seemed to have lost my card when I went to close my tab. But it gets worse… myself and at least 2 of my friends had our credit/debit card information stolen after using our cards here and each had several hundred dollars in fraudulent charges. So, unless you’re really keen on getting fraud-alert calls from your bank in the middle of the night, I’d steer clear of this place.

My friends and I went on Halloween and it was amazing. Great music selection from the DJ, great bass. There was $ 20 cover charge but open bar for an hour, we even sat in the little booths without reservation and no one gave us trouble for it. My friends had about 15 drinks + in total from that open bar. Note: On a normal weekend there is a dress code.

I came here for happy hour with a few friends recently. It’s confusing because it also goes by another name, the Gaslight or something like that. We decided to sit outside. The place itself was pretty cool, in the meatpacking district, just near the high line. It’s downfall is the service was really not that great. When we sit down, we are offered a number of drink specials for $ 7 each, so we order them. They are also written on a chalk board outside. We got our drinks pretty slowly and then we get out bill even slower and I am pretty sure there were not that many people there at all. When we get the bill, half of the drinks were charged to us as $ 9. We tell the waitress(I’m not sure who our waitress was because different people kept coming over), and she takes the bill and returns it. We noticed that some of the drinks are still $ 9 dollars so we explain again. A different woman comes over and with a huge attitude asks what the problem is and starts complaining that her staff should know better and should not have given us the wrong price. This is extremely unprofessional behavior. After we asked to speak to the manager, and that our prices should be honored, we waited a while and finally our bill was corrected and the prices honored. I might have come back to this place again if it wasn’t for this weird experience.

As we were walking through the MPD we randomly came across GasLight Spot had good music, put off a great vibe so we figured we’d grab a drink. At first the bartender did exactly what she’s to do, serve drinks… a few later, she became amazing! I believe he said her name was Nicolette. What I will say is NY doesn’t take well to simple pleasantries… like please, thank you, pardon me… no one is polite… hence why everyone thinks NY’ers are so rude… it’s just easier. I’m from NY, I get it. More so, no one seems to know how to tip. This is what sparked the conversation with Nicolette. She did her job at the beginning, then took the time to get to know us… she went above and beyond. I did forget the bar backs name… he was hilarious though. And for all that, we made certain to tip them accordingly. Did we have to, no… but they deserved it. They provided great service and gave us an amazing experience.

I was there on a Friday night, G2 was busy but not too crowded. The music was great and the bartenders were quick and poured a good drink. Prices are really good for the area. Will definitely go back again.

dragged in here by Staten Islanders — man, now I know how those hostages felt in Iran. this is so not my type of place. in a 15-minute span, the bouncer went from«I can’t let five guys in» to «sure, come right inside». I thought, oh, I guess this is one of those pretentious, tries-to-be-exclusive places, so surely there would be an attractive, young, hip crowd? maybe I could at least get a drink to calm my nerves. nope, to either of those. attempting to get through to the bar took a good 20 minutes — and that was just fighting through to get to the bar, not even getting the attention of a bartender. the clientele were a wedding party, and a lot of old, broken-looking people. it was at that point I decided to bail on my cousin and his friends. never forget? I’ll try.

Had my birthday party here – my friends said they had a good time but the person I organized the open bar was so rude and talked down to me. The bouncer was much nicer… I would never go back and I am mad I gave them service

Blehhhh, not a fan at all. A friend dragged me here on a Saturday night claiming this place was great and that I’d love it. Yup, she was wrong. We had to wait on line for about 5 minutes while slushy snow fell in NYC on a freezing night. We walk in and the place is filled with much older people and sleezy foreigners. Ummm, what part of this place did she think I’d like? She orders us a few drinks that were not bad and weren’t cheap or watered down like some other bars. I can’t comment on the price as she paid for the drinks. We walk around a bit trying to avoid hitting an old person and breaking their hip! I did run into this very friendly woman who claimed she was turning 51 that night and I made her happy by telling her she was no older than 40… wait…did I just hit on a 51 year old woman? Ok, the drinks are a little strong! This place is a maze. We went to the restrooms, came back out and ended up in a different part of this place that was like a club filled with hot guys… ummmm why didn’t we just go to this part??? Oh, private party, back to the oldies group we go! We were pretty much hit on all night by people old enough to be our fathers. Not fun, not fun at all. The DJ thought he was«so cool» with his shirt off ALONE in the DJ booth, wow… baller(insert sarcastic tone here). After about an hour and a half watching my friend get hit on by this foreigner who couldn’t be less than 40 years old, I told her we had to leave and finally did. Would I come back? Maybe in 40 years, and I’ll be sure to bring some people from the nursing home :)

This is the place you come when you feel like having your ass grabbed like no other. I literally loathe coming here even though the drinks are free, you have to deal with so many douchebags who think that every woman should be thrilled that they are grabbing on them prior to even speaking. I’ve only been here when dragged by friends for events/parties.

Friend had a BDAY party here. It was good. The waitress was good there was plenty of seating and the drinks created a high BAC. But what happened at the door? It seems everyone was quoted a different price and the entrance wasnt obvious… Quite an odd affair. I might go back for another party but probably not to chill for a night

Came here with a big group of friends for a few drinks. The bouncer gave us a problem because he thought we were having a party there but eventually let us in. Took up two couches and ordered drinks from a waitress who looked pissed. She took forever with the drinks that ended up tasting bland. Music was atleast good and after a few shots we didn’t mind the overcrowding. Might come back if I’m in the area but I’ll never plan on purposely coming back

I used to like you gaslight, what happened? Did you become to popular or maybe because I dared to veture into the MPD on a friday night. So I was sitting at home having a few drinks with a friend catching up, since we hadn’t seen each other in awhile. Another friend calls and tells me he is at Gaslight with some friends from work. We decide to make the trek down to MPD from HK and i soon release its the big B&T night. I start to cringe at the thought of getting out of the cab at this point. The bouncers were nice and let me and my friend in faster than most people. The first thing i notice when i walked in was that everyone here was trying to get casted for Jersey Shore 2. All the girls had attitude for no reason. I tried to excuse myself passed this group of girl to get to where my friend was and they automatically thought i was trying to hit on them. Soon the booty dancing started and thats when i decided I had enough. After two beers i said Adiós to Gaslight and was on my way. note to self. only go to the MPD Mon — thurs

This place was pretty nice. Pretty packed for a Thursday night. And had some guy tell me and my roommate what our birthdays meant? It was an experience.

Came here on a rainy Friday night. Lounge was packed and they had a private party going on. Bouncers told us to go next door which is incidentally their«sister» lounge called Gaslight. It was also packed with people, your typical after hour crowd of yuppies gawking at the balloon fest ladies. The décor and ambiance was great but you can’t hardly appreciate that. Because its sweltering with people making out and drunkards who had fallen asleep on the svelte couch, or the small enclave covered in white silhouette draping. The DJ that night sucked balls made me want to clobber him with my heels. Drinks we’re fairly priced but its not really something you can savor. Great service though from the coat check, waitresses and all the way to the bartenders.

Saturday night crowd was ok. The doorman wasn’t going to let us in, but my roommate sweet-talked him since it was her bday. it wasn’t even too crowded. The music was decent, but not many ppl dancing. kind of dark. a fair amount of couples making out. good for them! i don’t want to be nudged by them, tho. thanks. Not too inclined to go back.

This place isn’t marked so we walked right past it at first, but when we found it, were golden. Great interior and great bar staff! I did purchase one glass of house wine for $ 8 which tasted good, but my girlfriend and I made a point to arrive early and plant ourselves a seat at the bar so that would be the last time we’d be buying our own drinks lol We had a great time, good crowd but a little too much B&T for my taste. lots of out of town visitors go there. Anyway, overall, good music, great atmosphere and clean bathrooms. Nice place to chill and get your night started out right in the Meatpacking!

I went to G2 in August for a wrap party for a movie I was working on. They had a free open bar for the entire cast and crew, which was amazing! They also had lots of great little hors devours. This place has got a really nice laid-back vibe which I was totally digging. The waiters and waitresses who worked the event were very nice, and just kept bringing out the food! This place would be perfect for a party or just to grab a couple of drinks at. There are some booths and couches to sit down at, or if you prefer to stand and mingle, there’s a large open floorplan. There’s also a lofted DJ booth. I also must say that the bathrooms in this place are very nice! There was a bathroom attendant the night I was there, and she was so sweet, I gave her a $ 20 tip. She was from somewhere in Africa. I don’t know if it was all that free booze that made her so endearing or what, but I NEVER tip that big! Come here if you’re looking for a cool place to come and grab a couple of drinks in the Meatpacking. This is a cool joint.

G2 is so under the radar, that is part of what makes it so special. I was hesitant to even Unilocal it because I want to keep it that way! However, I entrust that the Unilocal community will not infiltrate this safe haven in MePa too much! I planned an event at G2 last Saturday night and it was absolutely seamless. We had a group of 55 – 60 people, and there were no door issues, «ratios» needed to enter, or ridiculous meatpacking-esque problems. We had an open bar for $ 35 per person and our own huge area with couches and chairs. No additional charge or deposit needed. AMAZING deal. G2 is owned by the same people as Gaslight(right on the corner of 9th ave and 14th street) but the unique thing about G2 is it isn’t marked from the outside(which i love). INCREDIBLE mix of people and young professional crowd. My only complaint is the waitresses were wenches and were basically demanding tips, but what can you do. Would definitely recommend this place for parties, events, etc. Tell Matt, the event coordinator, Joleen recommended you :) Cheers!
