Everything was good, food, service, and drinks. Prepared the right way. But nothing was spectacular. Steak medium rare, creamed spinach, mac-n-cheese, string beans, mashed potatoes, and molten cake. Nice atmosphere. Good for celebrations.

Went for resturaunt week, and even at the discounted price I would never go back.
Service was horrible, our waiter was missing for about 30 minutes and there were 20 minute breaks between servings. You aren’t going to attract new customers if you can’t serve them Serving sizes were super small, I know the resturaunt week deal is at a substantial discount but we left the place still hundgry, would have considered ordering more food but with the service being what it was, why bother

Restaurant week menu was simple but just right! Started with watermelon salad, steak and the bread pudding. I have to to say the salad was mediocre but steak and dessert were amazing. This is is why I could never date a vegetarian =) Our waiter was gracious and attentive. The ambiance was everything a steakhouse should be in the MPD. I must say it was a suit and tie crowd, loving the male to female ratio(all you single ladies take note). Definitely seems like a popular after work spot with a trendy crowd. I will probably be back with friends soon. Just be careful not to drink too much and get tripped out over the staircase. I saw a guy hold onto the railing and hop over it like it was hot lava!

We came for a Gilt City deal that was $ 95 and included– an appetizer, a porterhouse for two, 2 sides, and a dessert to share. Considering the porterhouse alone is normally $ 115, this was a steal. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Abe and Arthur’s which has prevented me from rushing there, but with this deal it was a great time to try it out. I figured maybe they would cut corners because of the deal but boy was I wrong. They did a fantastic job both with the service and the food. The great thing is they start you off with the cheddary popovers instead of regular old bread. Right out of the BLT Prime book. Why doesn’t everyone serve cheesy, butter popovers as the complimentary bread? That should be a rule. I vowed to only eat one but by the end of the meal I was easily stuffed with 4 popovers. They’re addicting! The appetizer we chose were the lobster corncakes with truffle. 3 decent sized cakes to an order. Chock full of lobster and corn with minimal filler. An even more upscale take on the classic crabcake. Terrific start to the meal. The main event of course was the porterhouse. It came to the table with a loud thud. This was a HUGE cut of meat. They list it at $ 38 and it was every bit of that. We ordered it rare and it was cooked exactly as we wanted. Really great buttery flavor and quality cut of beef. Could have cut it with a knife and it had a nice large t-bone which I enjoyed gnawing on of course. I must say I was quite surprised and very impressed by the quality. They definitely didn’t skimp on the size or give us a bad cut because we used the promotion. I’ve been to just about every top steakhouse in the city and while its hard to rate one against the other, I would say Abe and Arthur’s held its own. To gild the lily, the even gave us some complimentary sauces– bernaise, au poivre, and an herb butter(my favorite). Our sides of mac and cheese and cauliflower with pistachios and raisins in a caramel glaze(yes you read that right) really hit the spot. But the cauliflower is a MUST order. You get a whole head of cauliflower that has this sweet and spicy glaze and some added crunch from the pistachios. An innovative side that I have never seen before and one of the best I’ve ever had at a steakhouse. We also added the texas style onions, which were good but honestly nothing super original. I’d skip these in lieu of something else next time, possibly the famous truffle fries. Dessert was the french toast bread pudding with butter pecan ice cream. All the things you have heard are true. This is a simply incredible dessert. How can you go wrong? They have me at french toast bread pudding but then they add maple syrup, pecans, and butter pecan ice cream. Unbelievable and definitely enough for two after the food we ate ahead of time. I loved my whole meal. Deal or no deal it was spectacular and because of their impressive showing I have no doubt I will be back. Definitely go as dining in the meatpacking district could be tough when looking for great food.

Typical Meatpacking District trendy restaurant that turns into a lounge with music later at night, and also hosts weekly events. One of these just happened to be a singles mixer with free wine tasting that a bunch of us wandered into after the recent Unilocal event last week which was next door. Hey, why not? The sign said«free wine» outside the entrance and the girls I was with wanted to check it out. As they were filling out the attendee/victim profiles I sauntered by and headed to the upstairs level were the event was taking place. Free wine! Yes, there is nothing like scoring free booze at an event you’re not even there for! We all hung out there for a while sampling the different wines at each table. The girls ended up talking to a group of guys for a bit and I headed over to watch the talent they had that night on the main floor. The place is set up really nice with the upstairs level offering direct views to the main floor below. They had a girl playing electric violin and covering popular and top 40 songs. She was amazing! The crowd she had attracted around her also thought so. I could have just watched and listened to her play all night. Alas, the event was ending soon so I made my exit leaving my friends as they were still hooking up with the guys they met. Didn’t want to cramp their style! Did not get a chance to sample any food here so maybe one day I’ll go back for a meal. Seems like some good dining reviews listed here. Did look at the menu and it is a bit expensive but consider the location and just suck it up.

OK. I admit, I really didn’t want to like it. First of all, I take meals in the meat packing district with a grain of salt. I expect mediocre food, decent service, and a lot of pomp and circumstance without much substance. To my utter surprise, Abe & Arthur’s was an amazing experience with great ambience, great service, and even greater food. Ordered: Shrimp scampi appetizer, Porterhouse for 2(rare), sides of Mac and Cheese and Creamed Spinach and the donut dessert. I usually would critique each course but will just stop here and say that this exact meal is my dream steakhouse menu. Just delightfully cooked exactly to our liking with attentive service. Really a dream. My only regret is not ordering more appetizers as the shrimp scampi only came with 3 shrimp(yummy, so I’m not complaining) and I wish I could have also tried the crab cakes and some tartar. Still, I will be back so I am sure I’ll try it some day. Most steakhouses are stuffy and most MPD restaurants are more about the«Scene» than the food… but Abe & Arthur’s knocked it out of the ballpark for us. Really wonderful and a true 5 stars.

Disclaimer, gentle fashionistas in pumps and faux-hawk gentlemen in tight suit coats: This review is of the bar only. No food was consumed by this reviewer. We ordered two cocktails off the menu, both were excellent and packed a punch. The bartenders are professionals, and you get the sense that if you sampled all of their specialty cocktails, you’d enjoy all of their specialty cocktails. You would also be hammered, blitzed into inebriation. We also ordered a dozen oysters, which were fresh and de-lish. We joined the after work crowd and it was comfortable, spacious, and hip. Would recommend this place for a casual drink for sure. Yes, I would return to eat dinner here. There you have it.

Food was very good, and delivered with care on a very busy night. Terrific wine list with very reasonable markups — trust me on this. Steaks were terrific and less expensive than many NY steakhouses. Sides were smaller, but delicious, so be generous with your side orders. If you can get here on a weeknight, I think you will be very happy!

Was here during fashion week so the entire spot was crawling with models finishing up the shows. The server was definitely easy on the eyes and was actually really nice. We each ordered steaks some sides and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately my friend had to send her steak back as it came out well and who eats steak well one? It was unfortunate since I had to eat my food before it got cold and it took them longer than it should have to get her steak out right.

Amazing food, even better drinks. Perfect for group late night dinners or for a date(on one of the quieter nights). The only reason I wouldn’t give it 5 stars is because a) the price b) sometimes it can get a little hectic and the waiters can sometimes take a very long time waiting on you. But for the most part, its a great place. Make sure to try their: Pan Roasted Sea Scallops & Foie Gras(to die for) Hamachi to drink these are my favorites: The Geisha Devil in a Black Dress Enjoy!

Located just around the corner from some very fun spots in Meatpacking, this place really does get almost as crowded… starting at 7pm, they were quiet but on a Thursday night, filled up to the point that it was elbows and knees a-knockin’ at some tables. Bar up front, a second level above that, and a coat room at the front to help reduce the crowding. a little. If you’re a big group — careful. They crammed 12 of us into their«booth» which wasn’t nearly comfortable or big enough for all of us to sit comfortably. A second similar group got around that by drinking themselves silly(and quite loudly). Free popup bread at the beginning — so-so flavor(too buttery and then a little singed on the bottom). I had an Abe & Arthur salad — a mix of Apples, Walnuts, Honey Croutons, Blue Cheese, Bacon, Pickled Onions, Peppers & Honey Mustard Vinaigrette — the honey mustard was the flavor that stood out the most, overwhelming the dish. A dish of a half dozen littleneck clams were okay, but nothing unusual there. Bone-In Beef Short Rib was my entrée, and that was a glazed(Ancho Chile), meat-falling-off-the-bone dish that was plenty-filling after the salad but lacked any balance if we hadn’t ordered the sides, though was definitely properly cooked. Field mushrooms(good), mac & cheese(okay), creamed spinach(nothing special), and sweet garlic mashed potatoes(where was the garlic?) rounded out the sides shared across the table, although they missed bringing out some serving spoons initially. Everything a bit too salty for my taste, but that’s probably to help them sell more wine? Friends all picked up the filet mignon or bone-in filet, which looked to be well-prepared, but all required ordering some kind of sauce(Béarnaise or the house sauce all were additional $). Dessert — the jar of fruit was surprisingly good and cool, with honey to sweeten the fruit. And they brought out a tower of donuts(probably not bad if served warmer) with various squeeze bottles or dipping sauce, nothing really outstanding here. Was it worth the cost? Probably not, but it is an interesting place to see people before they go out — our waitstaff was less than attentive, and took a few times to actually get their attention for everything — we even stood up before they rushed over with a check. It was probably the overly loud next-door table and the crowded conditions at our table that soured the night — the food wasn’t bad, but there are better steakhouses in the city with less crowding(and less interesting crowds, though).

Came here with a coupon from Bloomspot. While the place gives off a slightly arrogant vibe, the service we received was impeccable. The steak was wonderfully flavorful, and the portion was more than generous. Appetizers and dessert were both delicious… topping it off with a nice bottle of red. This is around the corner from work, so I will probably return for another slightly arrogant dinner.

My friend and i went on a thursday night. this place was EMPTY. i think the reviews are getting worse as time go on and you could feel the quality declining majorly here. the chefs don’t seem to care about the food anymore! $ 35 got me 4 scallops and a sliver of foie gras. i was pretty hungry after my meal. My friend got the short ribs and wow, it was all fat. there wasn’t even marbelization — just pure fat. we showed the waitress and she literally said«wow, i see that, i am so sorry, let me get that out of here.» they took it off the bill which was nice, but you go to a steak house to have a good meal. not to have the food taken off the bill. on our way out, we heard the couple next to us complaining that they ordered a medium rare steak and it was well done. the waiter asked them if they wanted to take it back but they said they had waited too long for the waiter to come by so they were eating it out of hunger. terrible service. really disappointed. i am guessing tourists are keeping this place in business because with all the other steak houses in the city — this places leaves nothing to desire.

Abe & Arthur’s or as my friend calls it hot models with random men central. I came here with a group for a bday dinner. I’ve been to SL several times, but never had dinner upstairs. The décor gives off a sultry, sexy vibe. Dark bar area, slightly better lit dining room. I’d give Abe & Arthur’s an extra .5 stars if I could. Why? Well, while I was in the bar waiting to be seated, Mr. Sex on a horse(have to give my girl props for that line) Nacho Figueras came in for dinner. Since I’ve been drooling over his Polo ads for years, and he’s listed as my Unilocal current crush, my night was already made. Our server was amazing, I wish I could remember her name. She had a great personality, joked with our table, very attentive, just perfect. As I sat with the Argentinean god perfectly in my line of sight, we looked over our menus. We ordered the seafood platter for the table to share. It was huge and the seafood was fresh. For my entrée, I had the grilled tuna. It wasn’t a roll my eyes into the back of my head entrée, but the tuna was perfectly seared. I tried some of the other plates as well, don’t remember exactly what I ate, but everything was delicious. I got super giddy over the fact that they had some tea flavored vodka cocktail that was served in a mason jar. I saw it being served to another table and this little Tennessee girl just had to have one. It was a taste of home, I could almost hear Rocky Top in my ears. To finish out our meal we ordered a couple desserts for the table. They sent out this chocolate cake Happy Birthday thing, with marshmallow I think. I don’t know but it was amazing. They also order the peanut butter and jelly sandwich dessert. I didn’t taste it, but the table raved about them. Overall, food at Abe & Arthur’s is solid, but the eye candy is even better.

Stepping in I thought I had entered the island of fat ties. I mean seriously every handsome well dressed man in the meatpacking district was in this place. I don’t know which was better the food or the eye candy. The meal didn’t start off with a bang, hostess people were aloof and once seated we were served overcooked popovers. Total popover disappointment. However, the rest of the meal was amazing. The presentation of the salad course was stunning. I had the beet and goat cheese salad — it was deconstructed, made of fresh goat cheese and 3 different types of beets including the golden kind(yum). I had the pasta made with porcini mushrooms that was superb but the real gem of the meal was desert. Desert gets it’s own paragraph here. Bread Pudding. Freaking amazing bread pudding. Sweet, delicious, just the right constancy. Perfection. Bread Pudding. Full disclosure — I did not try the cocktails/wine or any other alcoholic beverage so this review is not for the drinks. I will go back and review the booze, it is a good excuse to eat the bread pudding again. All in all great place to hang out if you are a GQ model or if you like really great food.

After a fun and cocktail-filled evening spent gallivanting around the Meatpacking District, my friend and I decided to enjoy a lavish dinner at Abe & Arthur’s. I had first learned about the restaurant from seeing a party thrown there on an episode of «The Real Housewives of NYC»(or was it «Bethenny Ever After»? Whatever, same thing.) The décor appeared fabulously glitzy, yet comfortable enough for an intimate dinner. I was intrigued and rushed to my computer to research the menu, which I discovered was as seductive as the atmosphere. Abe & Arthur’s made the perfect destination for the continuation of our girls’ night on that summer evening. We walked past the completely packed bar area and were escorted up the stairs to what I would consider a VIP table based on its visual access of the main dining section below. The crowd was upscale and attractive, but not cheesy like many places in the area. While the beer and cocktail lists were rather extensive, I opted for what turned out to be a future favorite wine — a 2009 Pinot Gris from the Willamette Valley Vineyards. It was perfectly balanced and simply spectacular. Of course I have yet to find the bottle in a wine shop; I hate how that always happens! But, I digress… We munched on some delicious bread and were soon gifted our even-better entrees. The Roasted Free-Range Chicken was extremely moist and flavorful. It was accompanied by some healthy field mushrooms and asparagus, making for a hearty and comforting plate. My friend adored her perfectly-cooked, hefty steak as well. Regardless of our full bellies, there was no way that we were going to pass up the French Toast Bread Pudding, and I was certainly glad that we had made that decision. This is my favorite dessert variety to both cook and feast upon, so I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur. This particular bread pudding was the best I have ever had! The moist mound of dough had the perfect consistency and was served in a rustic mini-skillet. It was covered with a gooey bourbon-maple syrup and topped with a silky butter-pecan ice cream. It was pure, sweet heaven… Just thinking about the decadent meal makes my mouth water, and I long to return. I would also love to check out their bar scene again, as it was certainly a popular spot.

I’ve only had really, over the top awesome experiences here so I’m gonna go ahead and drop a fiver on ‘er. The trick is going here in the right mood with the right expectations. My sweet spot? Totally upbeat, fabulous and crazy girls nights. But really, any time you want to do it up and celebrate with friends, family or loved ones with fabulous cocktails, gorgeous people, fancy grub and spectacularly friendly service then I’d say, go to Abe & Arthur’s. It’s the perfect pre-game, in my humble opinion. In terms of dish recommendations… 1) Starters: I can’t get enough of the beet and goat cheese starter, crab cakes and meatballs. 2) Entrees: the steak is their specialty here so I’d say go for that with a mix of the sides to share. 3) Dessert: The doughnut balls are incredible. Arranged on a circular cup contraption and paired with strawberry and caramel sauce in ketchup bottled. Stick that sucker in the doughnut and squeeze to make jelly filled! And then when you’ve had enough gluttony and too much wine, teeter next door to Simyone where you’ll dance the night away!

NEWREVIEW: So, I am updating my review because since I ate here last, some things have changed in a BIG way. They have changed the menu and no longer serve the Cookies & Cream Soufflé but they DO offer a C&C Sundae now. They still have the French Toast Bread Pudding(which is still YUMMM). I still stand by our favorite Usual Suspects, like the Tuna Tacos, Mac & Cheese and Bread Pudding. We also ordered a few items I never had before, like the Four Cheese Potato Gratin, I wish I had every day of my life, one of the new additions, the Shrimp Scampi, with the largest shrimp I’ve ever laid eyes upon, and Roasted Brussel Sprouts w/Bacon, that I wish I could have eaten but I don’t eat pork. If you like white wine, please do yourself a favor and order a glass of the Chateauneuf-De-Pape. So crisp and light with a very pleasant bouquet. OLDREVIEW: OK, I’ve been here a few times. The bar area is a bit pretentious but that’s mainly due to the patrons, NOT the staff. They have some crazy good original drinks. I have to say that you MUST try the Grilled Octopus(they can prepare it w/o the chorizo), Tuna Tartare Tacos, Steak Tartare, Pork Belly Buns, Cod & Rock Shrimp, Scallops w/Foie, Mac & Cheese, Truffle Parm Fries, Carnival for Two(FUNN), French Toast Bread Pudding and my FAVE, the Cookies & Cream Soufflé(order with your entrée). So decadent and worth every penny. Make reservations for dinner because they don’t open for seating until after 6pm, daily, and they fill up very fast. Happy eating!

I went to Abe & Arthur’s with a friend for my birthday. I had a great experience and can’t wait to return again! The food was fresh, filled with flavor and exciting. We had the meatballs and the beet salad, which were my favorite starters. We shared the pan seared cod & crispy rock shrimp. Not too salty, not over cooked, it was truly just right. :) The wine list was good, a wide range and selection,…plus I was pleased to see more West Coast wines than I normally do out here in New York. Beyond the food, the décor and crowd is trendy, trendy, trendy. There is a club downstairs, so similar to Lavo people dine late upstairs and migrate down to the club later. This is a very«sceney» place, so be prepared for that type of crowd… aka model bomb. Hey, I’m completely okay with being surrounded by beautiful people, especially beautiful and unintelligent people. It makes me feel fabulous! ;) Abe and Arthur’s is great, and I am excited to dine there again and try some of their other menu items. Oh, quickly… service…ehhhh– our waitress was very nice, but even MORE pushy. Like, let me finish my wine please…
