My husband and I went here during a visit to NYC. It seemed to have great potential — HUGE whiskey list, live entertainment and 2 blocks from our hotel. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. First off, the ambience was pretty cool. It was like walking in to a 1920s prohibition era saloon, almost like a dining car of a train in some aspects. Looked at the massive whiskey list(my husband is a huge whiskey fan)…off to a very good start. Our waiter came to take our drink order and was very pretentious. I ordered Jamieson and you could tell that wasn’t good enough for this kind of place. We split the Caesar salad and mac & cheese. The Caesar was gross. It was bitter and super fishy with random bites really lemony or really horseradishy — not well mixed. I couldn’t eat more than a few bites, and I’ve never come across a Caesar I don’t like. The Mac and cheese was ok but nothing special. I enjoyed the Brussel sprouts in it. The Jazz band was only ok. We stayed for one drink, quickly ate and took off. If you’re looking for this kind of vibe, check out The Heath at the McKittrick Hotel — they nail it!

My boyfriend and I came here for a date night. He is a big Whiskey fan and I’m trying to learn, so we got two flights. Our waiter(I wish I remembered his name!) was very knowledgeable and friendly, and was attentive to our preferences. Now I know I prefer whiskeys with a higher wheat content! The live jazz band was wonderful and made for a really romantic night. It wasn’t too loud that we couldn’t have a conversation. We can’t wait to come back. I’m only rating 4 stars instead of 5, because of an incredibly rude hostess out front. She was very belittling and didn’t make a good first impression on an otherwise lovely night.

A must go to destination for Whiskey lovers. This place has an old Speakeasy feel to it, from the décor to the hipster-y jazz bands they bring in from time to time. A good food menu, but the Stars of the show are the bottles and bottles of whiskey, from Scotch to Bourbon, to Rye, To Irish, and even Japanese and Indian varieties. You can go with flights, where they send someone to explain to you what you are drinking, to diving into the menu yourself. All whiskey is served neat, poured from the bottle in front of you, with water and ice given separately. One word of caution, make sure you check the price on what you are ordering, some of the more rare selections can be quite expensive, $ 100+ per drink expensive.

The Flatiron Room is a gorgeous Jazz & Blues Lounge that is perfectly decorated to match the vibe of the atmosphere. You can never beat live music EVER anywhere. I am not sure of the name of the performer but her voice was close to perfection. I am not rating this place 5 stars because I do believe in an environment as such it shouldn’t be such a casual place. Also, they were out of 80% of their white wine that night which was a buzz kill.

I am a devoted fan of the Flatiron Room Amazing $ 10 happy hour for all their fancy cocktails every weekday evening. This is my go to spot for Manhattan happy hour. Great for a date and quiet enough for a business meeting(though there is often live bluegrass music) The staff are attentive and consistent, so they get to know you(and your preferences) if you go often. You need a reservation at almost all times to guarantee a table, but it’s not hard to make one the day of.

We decide to stop in right when they open because we were in the area. I didn’t realize that this place was so nice on the inside. The interior is gorgeous! We sat at the bar. I had The Mule made with Whiskey and The Rye Whiskey Old Fashioned. Both were very good. I will definitely make reservations for after dinner drinks and live music in the future.

Love this place, def make a reservation and bring your date. It’s so intimate and cute. Different seating sections and all well-decorated. Happy hour 5−7pm $ 10 drinks I had two snacks instead of an entrée– Scottish eggs weren’t bad but not the best I’ve had; pork belly is a bit salty but not too bad. My friend had the steak frites– it’s not bad but they are all not filling enough– def not for guys. I tried both of the gin cocktails they were refreshing, a bit sweet. The jazz band was absolutely a delight! They play around 30min and take breaks but we loved it!!!

Came here last night with my boyfriend and we both were very impressed. The burger we ordered was so delicious(I don’t remember the name of it, but was the last one on the menu) My margarita was refreshing and strong! Everyone working there was friendly and nice. Our plates were taken off the table as soon as we were done eating. Would definitely go back, had great food, great drinks and great service!

«Most important things to do in NYC» lead me to this fine establishment. Ambiance, live music and quality service sealed the deal. Luis our bartender is a brilliant mixologist with awesome skills and talent for any other profession he’d wish to pursue. God bless the working man whose brilliance is not expressed through the parameters of his/her daily occupation but through his/her expressions of their craft. Go and talk with Luis and enjoy the fruits of his experience.

I am occasionally have meeting with girls at this place as its cozy and we like jazz. Today, however, I was rushing to Flatiron Room and noticed my phone was nearly dead. I grabbed my charger with me. How surprised I was to hear from the Floor Manager that Flatiron Room«rules» do not allow to charge customers phones and«too many people come here to charge their phones. We are not making your life harder, we just do not charge phones even if you bring your own charger» was a very odd response. Zero hospitality. We were 6 girls at the table. We asked to charge the phone just for 5 min as we had other girls coming and only my phone had the needed numbers and it was their first time in city. Never, I mean literally never, I heard such, excuse me, stupid rule. On a rare occasion when my phone dies, some places even take the phone to the kitchen just because a chef has the needed format charger. Any coffee shop, Whole Foods, Library, some places do not charge at the bar but offer pay-per-charge booth as un alternative but Flatiron Room is ridiculous. I was willing to stand in their bathroom to charge the phone but no outlets installed. So since they did not charged my phone I decided its only fair if i don’t order anything. Thank you for keeping me well hydrated for the duration of nearly of 2 hours, miss Floor Manager. I had enough water for a week. The rest of your potential customers went to Pergola instead. I will give it second thoughts to come with my friends to you again in the future. ps. i wonder how much it will cost to charge a single phone for 5 min. I bet waaaay less then my check would of be.

What I had: 37 W 26th Cocktail & snack plate Would I go back?: Yes ambiance, cocktails and food are on point — strange encounter with service that seemed to be an anomaly but shouldn’t be overlooked Story: when you are paying in the mid to high teens for a cocktail and come to a cocktail bar of this nature you definitely expect a certain level of etiquette and service. Our initial encounter with the wait staff was pleasant — male server took our drink order from the middle standing room counter we had parked ourselves at. he moved off the shift and informed us of the waitress we’d be having for the remainder of the night. While conversing and sipping our cocktails we were greeted by a staffer that offered us a mixed snack plate — we imagined it was complimentary due to its size and of course that we had not ordered anything in addition to our cocktails. In the midst of our snacking the waitress who was now waiting on us(who we met in this moment) came over and said to us this plate was not ours — as our hand was in mid grab she reached to take the plate from us — realizing what she was doing she stepped back — flustered & mumbled something to herself & walked away. The damage was already done though. Flabbergasted my friend and I looked at each other wondering what had just happened. We finished our cocktails and honestly the most incredible snack plate I’ve had and would come back for but that and the cocktails but this first experience with the staff was strange, rude inappropriate and peculiar. Now the good part Cocktails are on point Snack plate included a variety of nuts toasted with some sort of maple syrup and rosemary — delicious! Jalapeño cheese cornbread was superb as well.

This is a very cool music restaurant and bar, that requires a reservation and limits the amount of people at the bar. This is a small restaurant with great custom cocktails and a ton of whisky by the dram or bottle. They even let customers keep bottles in their bar, locked up, until you come back to listen to some live music and enjoy your bottle. Very cool! The food is quite good… flat breads, cheese plates, and a variety of entrees. But the custom cocktails and whiskey list? Wow oh wow, what a selection! The service is very good and attentive. The live music is wonderful, I heard a jazz band when I was here. Prices are reasonable and the value for the money is good! Call ahead. Don’t expect to be able to just wander in at your leisure!

I love this place! Like a true speakeasy, there is a live band playing jazz or countryish music. The music is just loud enough to enjoy while still being able to have a conversation without shouting. Happy Hour Flatbreads are pretty good, not amazing but decent to snack on while enjoy some delicious cocktails. The cocktails are made with pretty much any spirit you like. From a spicy mezcal to a smooth whiskey, they make it taste good.

Exceptional Valentine’s Day at Flatiron Room. We booked ahead so we were seated at one of the tables in the front area by the stage. The whole atmosphere was perfect — classy(but not snooty), dim lighting, the stage draped in deep red velvet drapes, it was all very romantic! The live music was very nice playing in the background but not too loud that you can’t hold a conversation. The cocktails were delicious and my boyfriend really enjoyed his whiskey flight. We shared four tapas and each one was tasty but the most memorable of all was the mac and cheese. Do not miss this dish! One of the creamiest, richest and best I’ve ever had! Prices are steep but for a special occasion it was all wonderful.

The following review is just for service/ambiance/drinks. I made a reservation for 2 at 11pm, Friday night. It’s Friday night, i was meeting a bunch of friends and they decided to tag along with us. I couldn’t change the reservation for five. The next available seating was at midnight. We decided to just get there and give them the fyi on the last minute change. We arrived very early from what our reservation time, the host was extremely accomodating and was able to seat us comfortably. Awesome service! I really love this place for various reasons, the live music, great service, the crowd and most importantly drinks were awesome! It’s a bit pricey, but WTH, it’s worth every penny! No cover charge to go in, unlike some other jazz lounge/bar in NYC. Highly recommend this place, to grab a drink or two or three or more… and just chill!

This is a cool spot one of our local friends suggested we try before heading over to a play. It’s a fun, noisy bar with live music. The place was a bit crowded when we arrived but they were able to find a table for four with no problem. One of the gals asked the waiter, Tre I believe is his name, for his suggestion based on what she likes. He suggested a drink that was really strong and she asked if there was something a bit on the fruity side… I think he became frustrated and told her to read the cocktail menu. Okay? When he returned, we ordered Blackberry Gimlets and they were delicious! We also ordered the Mac & Cheese with Brussels Sprouts and a little kick of spice. Mmmmmmmm When we were given the check, we gave him cash and also asked to put $ 20 on one card and the rest on the other. Well, he put $ 20 on one card and the rest on the other but didn’t deduct the cask we gave him from the total. He then told us that he saw the cash but since we were specific with what to do with, he gave it back. Made us feel a bit belittled. What? Next time I go, I’ll be sure to seek out a different waiter and I hope I’ll have a better experience.

Pretty much in love with the Flatiron Room. We came here on Saturday night with a reservation, as per the suggestions from other reviews, and I’m so glad we did. We got a little table right in front of the stage! First of all, this place is amazingly transportive. You basically step out of the streets of modern day NYC and into the past. A much classier past. The music was awesome– I don’t know their regular schedule but I believe there’s love music on the weekends from 9pm– 1 or 2am. I wish the food menu was a bit larger– the flatbreads weren’t too impressive but good to munch on while we drank and listened. The cocktail menu is awesome and they have just about every whisky you could ever want. I had the mule with bourbon and it was so gooooood. Anyhow, I would totally recommend this place for a night out. Great music, delicious drinks, friends service and cool vibes. Looking forward to coming back in the future!

It’s pretty loud and crowded. But you can still have a conversation with the person next to you, but not one person away. So maybe go here if you only want to have side conversations with one person. There’s live music and cocktails are $ 15. I had the Lovely Kioto — it came in a bowl.

It’s been a month since I visited the Flatiron room and I’m still raving about it to any whiskey fan/human who will listen. This place is whiskey heaven. You walk in and immediately feel sexier; the ambiance is dark and moody and everyone is either on a super hot date or enjoying the company of old friends. With an endless whiskey menu and a beautiful lady on stage in the back swaying and singing to smooth jazz, what’s not to love? We ordered several whiskey flights and cocktails, charcuterie and cheese plates, and their signature bone marrow. All were awesome. Order the bone marrow. You’ll feel glutinous, fancy, and full all at the same time. My favorite part of the whole experience would have to be our waiter. This guy knew his whiskey. I don’t know how he remembered so much information(did he go to whiskey school? Is that a thing?) but listening to him explain the history and flavors of each whiskey was an experience in itself. I can’t wait to go back. Even if you’re not a whiskey fan, go. Trust me. Go now.

After coming back here two more times I wasn’t as impressed: Pros: 1) Live jazz still there 2) Loungey/chill atmosphere very relaxing… to the point I wanted to sleep 3) You can still buy an overpriced bottle of your choice and leave it in one of their cubbies, so the next time you return they’ll pour you a drink from the same bottle(like your own little«mini-bar») Cons: 1) Portions were so small this time, not sure if they saw my review and said damn we’re giving away too much food 2) Expensive for such little food $ 60+ per person for a party of 3, 20% tip, tax, and only 2 appetizers and 3 entrees and 1 dessert 3) The AC was set to sub-zero…they wanted to fatality me 4) The lighting was so dim, we had to use our iphone flashlights to see each other across the table Not as impressed as I was the first time
