I usually love FIKA and have had great experiences here. Unfortunately last evening around 4:45 my friend I and I met for coffee and had an extremely unpleasant experience here at this location. First off, no one was in line, yet we were standing waiting to order for 5 minutes and the man behind the counter kept making eye contact with us and proceeded to clean his counters and not help us. Finally after articulating we would like to order again, he took our orders coldly. When our coffee was ready he yelled«HI» and looked down and handed us our drinks. My friend and I sat down and began to catch up since she is from out of town. There were other people in the shop as well. Then out of the blue, with not even half of my coffee finished, the man behind the counter yells«WEARECLOSED». Not even excuse me we are closing soon if you would like to finish your drinks. Everyone in the shop turned around and looked at him because we were all confused and he yells«YEAHTHAT’S RIGHTWERECLOSEDYOUNEEDTOLEAVENOW.» I asked if we could finish our coffee, it is cold outside and he said no. I looked at my clock and it was 5:05– not even a closing time. We all left. I have never been treated so hostile in a coffee shop. There are many other coffee shops in New York City, so FIKA will be avoided now because I would like to not be abruptly kicked out of a coffee shop into the cold with my coffee hastily poured into a to go cup.

One of my favorites coffee shops in NYC. Their coffee taste so much better than some of our national chains and the bakery goods are really good match to the coffee selection. This recent location on Park Avenue also offers a designer chocolate brand which makes great gifts. Space is nicely furnished and comfortable. Gets busy in the mornings and lunch times but other times you can get a seat and relax with a book while enjoying your coffee. Fika means a coffee break or to have coffee in a social setting in Sweden and those Swedes know their coffee and how to have a quality time no matter how short.

Dropped by this corner location for their lingonberry hot chocolate during hot chocolate week/festival and they prepped a tasty beverage, gladly accepting Levelup as payment.

Service was lovely but matcha wasn’t cutting it. It had no flavor whatsoever. The only reason why was for the awesome people took my order and the chocolates.

Mostly comparing this place to the one near Bryant Park. Prices are the same but the service here was worse. Chocolate was as good as any other FIKA and the tea was a bit waterier. Had to let it steep for much longer. Was exceptionally hot as well, enough to burn. I think that there are better tea/coffee shops in the area.

Food is fresh. Presentation is artful. Clean, modern aesthetic. This is one of the few places that has quiet music so you can work! A rarity it feels in the city. Coffee is good but pricey. Chocolates are gorgeous & jewel-like in their display. Haven’t tried the pastry yet but it looks yummy. Come here if you want to work or hang out. But make sure you get here before 3pm if you want food because the kitchen closes at that time.

I used to go to the FIKA on Reade Street all the time before I got a new job further uptown, and had been craving one of their Caesar salads for months. On Reade Street, they would actually toss the salad with the dressing so it was distributed evenly, which is what you’d expect for a $ 13 salad. At this place, they first brought it out with no dressing at all. Then when I complained, the guy took it back to the kitchen and came back with a little plastic cup of dressing on the side. What is this, Denny’s? Also, once I saw a dead roach on the floor by the door. It had been there for some time because there were tiny ants lining up all around to eat it, like it was a Vegas buffet. It was relatively early in the morning when I saw this, meaning whoever was in charge of opening the store totally missed it. Like another reviewer said, the staff is mostly young and just doesn’t seem to have their act together. The older-seeming people are friendlier and generally more competent, but they weren’t there on the day of this roach fiasco. In fact come to think of it, the roach staff and the shitty salad staff were the same people. It’s the weekend crew. I’ve figured it out. Fire the weekend crew. Or at least bring in some adult supervision. Seriously, I live around here and have taken to coming in fairly frequently. This place hasn’t been open very long, so if management cracks the whip and I notice an improvement, I will gladly edit this review accordingly.

Good coffee can’t make up for the poor service. Incompetent and unfriendly. With a ton of cafés in the neighborhood, why bother with this place?

Ordered a latte. Was lukewarm. Also, staff was pretty unfriendly. Both my credit card and receipt were kinda thrown back at me over the counter. No thank you whatsoever. I think it’s safe to say the staff at Starbucks is friendlier. Won’t go back.

Coffee was so, so and barely warm. The biggest problem is the staff. They are not professionally trained in how to make a proper cup of the various coffees they offer. The coffee is inconsistent and fair at best. The staff is young and are not skilled, can’t move a line along even with only two people waiting, and are just wrong for the job. No personality and barely pay attention to the customer. The place is always empty, even tho it offers an esthetically pleasing, brand new space with a lot of seating. There’s no question in my mind why it’s always empty. I gave it three tries knowing it was new. Not worth a fourth and I pass by it more than once a day.

I love FIKA and was so happy to see this new one open up! In the winter time I love their hot chocolate but it’s summer time so I got an iced strawberry herbal tea which was pretty good. They also had iced green and black teas. I am not a coffee or espresso drinker but I have heard from friends that this place has excellent espresso. I am always a little uncertain about getting a premade sandwich, but they looked good so I tried one. I had the chicken salad sandwich that had cranberries in it, I enjoyed it. They had a variety of pastries and chocolates behind the counter, I will have to return to sample those. I purchased a container of chocolates with almond, hazelnut, pistachio and raisin for $ 12. They sell some chocolate bars for $ 8 each. The chocolate covered almonds in pretend prescription bottles is a cute gift idea. This place has free wifi and a lot of seating so it is a good place to meet for tea/coffee and a snack. This place could be a great place to study if you don’t mind the medium volume music playing in the background. This place is on the pricey side, but the quality is great so I don’t mind.
