I finally decided to order lunch from here after working in the area for 10 yrs and got a panini. For those of you that have a love/hate relationship with carbs, this place will satisfy your cravings. They use a thin European flat bread that’s thin enough to not give you that guilt factor. It was fresh and warm and I contemplated just eating half. What the heck, you only live once ;o)

Always happy with my purchaes at Elly’s. Have had their wraps, burgers, and salads… always satisfying at a very reasonable cost. Highly recommended for any of your deli needs!

Came here on 08÷17÷13 and they«accidentally» charged $ 13.75 for a bag of pretzels. Cashier gave me $ 10 back. The very next day, they again«accidentally» charged for a can of Coke. When I asked about why the total was what it was, the dumbfounded cashier started throwing out random prices, which of course didn’t tie in with the $ 16.34 total… then handed me back $ 3.00. I’ve been going here for quite a while, but now it’s game over.

No more refrigerated display case with cool stuff — I suspect that it’s changed ownership because this place has changed its employees, coffee and the stuff that it sells.

Walk by this place all the time and finally went in today. I tried the Yankee Clipper and will definitely be back. The sandwiches are a good size and great taste for a great price. When I pulled the two halves of the hero apart 20 minutes after leaving the deli and walking through the cold spring weather, the cheese was still stringy and the sandwich steaming. Very nice.

Tried their chicken pesto sandwich. Maybe it was an off day but the chicken was extremely dry. Have had much better at NY Bagel one street away and even, dare I say, panini tozt.

How in the wide world of sports did I not make it to this place for like 2 years??? This area of Murray Hill can be a bit disappointing when it comes to lunch options, and I was in the hunt for a new place close by last week. I don’t remember how I actually found the 2 measly reviews that Elly’s has commanded so far, but I was hungry, and they were both 5-stars, and I remembered I’d walked by here a bunch. So why not give it a try? Welp, 3 visits within a single week later, and Elly’s is now officially in my lunchtime rotation. These guys offer up a really solid collection of sandwiches(most of which are listed on a sign that’s blocked from view by the grill itself, something that for whatever reason I find adorably endearing), the 3 of which I’ve tried so far have been delicious, filled to the brim with meat, reasonably priced, and served on hero bread that has the same kind of fantastic outer crispiness/soft inside that you get from a good Banh Mi. My first three sandwich attempts have been: — Texas Beef: Hot roast beef, with BBQ sauce and some other stuff. I don’t actually remember what else. But it was really good. — Grilled chicken with pesto, mozzarella, and roasted red peppers: Got this because Ben R’s picture looked fucking awesome. The picture doesn’t lie… it was fucking awesome. — Some other roast beef sandwich with cheddar and horseradish sauce. Also delicious. I’m definitely going to be back to plow through some more, and hopefully to try some breakfast sangwiches as well. Every time I’ve stopped by, the dudes working the register have been super friendly, and I keep seeing people stopping in who are on a first-name basis with the guys behind the sandwich counter, which is always a good sign. Beyond the sandwiches this seems like your standard mildly sketchy convenience store, but you’re here for the sandwiches. So if you live/work in the NYU Medical Center area, stop in, order a hero, and discover a great hidden gem of an everyday lunch spot!

Yayy I love Ellys! It’s right down the block from me and always there for me when I need hangover food. I’ve gotten — Bacon, Egg, & Cheese on a roll — Home fries — Iced Coffee — Watermelon — Variety of soft drinks — Green Tea ice cream Not all at the same time! The BEC on a roll was probably one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had before. The roll was nice and soft, eggs cooked to perfection, cheese nicely melted. Yum! The home fries were recooked as they took the ones that were on display and are nicely seasoned. Can’t really go wrong with the other things I bought. The staff is always super friendly too!
