Can’t say enough good things about The pharmacist Olivia, she handled the problem I had with a prescription, in minutes. My former pharmacist told That It would take a week. Olivia not only Knew how to fix the problem, fill the prescription and called me back in less than An hour ! Thanks again!

Formerly Walgreens store #14383, now Duane Reade. This location is one of the very few that heed my desires to exult hope where I was able to check their inventory online and attain what I want. No leading pharmacy in the Metro NY region carries Fisherman’s Friend, strong menthol lozenges, NOT your standard Halls cough drops which this former Walgreens carry. Their inventory is accurate for as being well stocked when searching via Google for a «where to find item.» The cashier is completely oblivious and ignorant to pharmaceutical over-the-counter medications. Associates are unseen in my line of sight as I serve myself to locate this particular item myself. This Duane Reade #14383 do not contain freshly prepared foods nor a small bakery within. It is a small retail space with organized small aisles that get patrons in and out for the daily lifestyle of a New Yorker.

My 5 stars are for the pharmacy, although the rest of the store is way above most other Duane Reades, too. But the pharmacy! As far as I can tell, there are two regular pharmacists, and I cannot say enough good about the one woman with longish dark hair and glasses. She is the nicest, most helpful and professional pharmacist I’ve run across in the city(actually of anywhere I’ve lived). This store has a very chill vibe; it’s not a crazy madhouse, it’s neat and clean, and getting prescriptions filled there is easy and pleasant. It is exceptional, certainly by ordinary DR standards. That sounds like a left-handed compliment, I know, but, really, you cannot beat the pharmacy here. Rarely a wait, you can usually get your prescription in a few minutes, and the one phamacist I mentioned above(the other I’m not crazy about; she’s like the regular DR pharmacists) goes out of her way if an prescription is expired or there’s anything out of the ordinary.

I now realize why I have no savings account to brag and boast about. Why I try and try to save money, but yet, every month, poof, there goes my paycheck. I’ve really started to think about what’s sucking it all up. Yes, there is the eating out and drinking like a lush, but it isn’t that or the lavish shoe and vintage purse purchases. Newp, it’s places like Duane Reade that are suckin me dry and I’ll tell you why. $ 44.01 on a bunch of crap I really didn’t need. Every time I come into a drugstore I am instantly hooked. I totally buy into the end caps and displays. I think, wow, Kleenex comes in cool funky decorative boxes that look like a Target ad? Wow, Method cleaning wipes come in a container that matches my apartment! Ooooh, Revlon has a new red lip tint that is exactly like all of the other red lip tints I have, I must buy it. Sucker, sucker, sucker. Oh well, I plan on putting my Kushyfoot ankle socks and Mango gum to use someday ;)

I agree with Russ and Sara but have more to add. Probably one of the better stocked Duane Reades except for the lack of compressed air in a can aka computer spray. When I asked the young man behind the counter do you have any computer spray? ya know the air in a can. He replied, «I know computers and I have no idea what your talking about.» — I did not respond I just walked away. I could not dignify this statement with any response. This place is right on the way to work and on the way home so I do come here a few times a week.

This place is pretty OK, but every once in a while I have to stop by on my way to work in the morning(circa 7 or 8AM), and there is inevitably only one employee on duty. And she either speaks really crap English or has absolutely no grasp of their inventory at all. Anytime I’m looking for something sort of difficult to find in the store, I ask her, and she’s all«???» Dude, you work here. I’m definitely down with being an immigrant, learning a new language and a new culture, it being really early in the AM, etc. But don’t go out and get a job you obviously can’t hack. If you don’t think you can handle speaking English and helping people find stuff at 7AM, don’t take the morning shift at Duane Reade. Please.
