I understand that the bar is set pretty low for a local pharmacy. Fill the prescription, try not to be rude to your customers and let them get on with their lives. Unfortunately, these guys at Duane Reade can never seem to get it right. It must be something in the water there because they have changes staff numerous times but are always plagued with issues whenever I go. My heart sinks every time I have to go into this place to fill a prescription. I am just waiting to see how they are going to mess up this time. Today I had a prescription filled and only had to wait one hour for their computer system to get back online(understandable I guess, but they have used that excuse before). When I returned to get the script, i was not told anything; they just walk in the back and let you rot away with the other sorry folks who are in the same boat as you. It took them another hour to hand me the prescription and take my money. The funny thing is that this is by far the best experience I have had filling a prescription at this store in quite some time… that is why I am giving them 1 star. In the past they managed to make we wait just as long but were rude and obnoxious – if not confrontational. I want to thank management for at least learning to be indifferent. The next step in their development would be to have some form of communication with their patrons to inform them whether or not their prescription is ready and to provide a guess as to when it might be given to them. If you like having your prescription filled while waiting between 1 – 3 hours with zero communication from the staff, then this is the pharmacy for you. If and when you actually are given your prescription it is sort of like winning a lottery… as you leave behind all the other sorry folks waiting is despair. I will do my best never to use this pharmacy again.
