Yesterday, my sister and I were looking to grab a bite to eat after seeing Shen Yun at Lincoln Center and stumbled upon this very quaint/tiny spot located in Hell’s Kitchen. At first we were a bit skeptical since there was only one couple dining in but we decided to try it any way. Inside is very dimly lit and has about 10 — 12 tables. We were not disappointed –service was fast and the food was really delicious! I had the spicy bamboo shallots. By the time we finished, the place was packed. Glad we went with our first instincts. If you’re in the area, I definitely would recommend this restaurant.

Ordered online through Unilocal.Had Pad Thai with chicken, Red Curry with pork and Curry Puffs. Took the they had multiple levels for spiciness. I went with the second from the top on the Pad Thai — «Spicy.» It was a good amount spice, not too much at first, but it definitely built over time. By the end of the bowl I was reach for my water after each bite and looking for the kleenex nearby. It never overwhelmed the dish though and wasn’t spicy just for the sake of being spicy. The Red Curry we got«Medium» and it was great as well. Both had great flavor, tasted fresh and arrive hot and on time. The curry puffs were a nice change of pace from our typical spring rolls. Had more of an Indian curry flavor to me than Thai. The sauce it came with was a good addition with the cucumber and a bit of sweetness as well. All in all a very good dinner and at around $ 10/entrée a good value as well. Will definitely be ordering again.

The pad thai is good but the spice level is low. I got Spicy and it was really more like medium. The shrimp and chicken dim sum was a bit dry but the flavor was good. I had delivery and it arrived still piping hot. I will order from here again and did just now. Will update with how the Calamari taste!

Had their red curry delivered, it was solid, though nothing super special. They gave a ton of curry, which was pretty flavorful and coconut milk rich, but the protein and veg were lacking. If you’re craving Thai Curry, this place will satiate, but is nothing to brag of.

I stayed at a hotel nearby and had food delivered late. I kept it simple and ordered chicken pad Thai(spicy). I didn’t know what to expect as the reviews are mixed but I thought it was delicious. Could have been spicier, but the chicken was really good and there was a ton of it. And the convenience factor of having it delivered trumps everything. It got here quickly and when they said it would, and ordering on the phone was a breeze. The delivery guy was nice and they don’t charge a delivery fee. I eat Thai food all the time, this wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but I would absolutely order it again or stop in next time I’m in New York.

Good Thai food. We had take out delivered. Delivery was fast but they forgot the white rice and peanut sauce(we paid for them) I never called to let them know. Food arrived promptly.

Too saucy! Not in a good way. Their papaya salad was drenched in their sour fish sauce, and less than half way along, my taste buds died a little from the salt. Okay, so maybe it was just the appetizer, right? NO. The noodle dishes were also waaaay salty and dare I say, TOO«flavorful.» We ordered the Pad see ew & drunken noodles. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one to usually complain about flavorful food but it was quite unbearable towards the end. I had massive food coma and so thirsty that I probably drank enough water for a village.

I’ve happened across this place twice now while visiting NYC. Now I will make a point to go there when in town. The drunken noodles were exactly what I wanted. Exactly. Perfect flavor, fresh vegetables and good-sized portion. The service was wonderful and the space is cute, albeit small. I wish I could go there right now!

This is a tiny and easily overlooked Thai eatery in Hells Kitchen but the flavor is largely impressive. I came here for lunch with a coworker and we were both happy and satisfied after our meal. I got their Pad Kee Mao with vegetable lunch special. I really like it although I wish it is spicier but the noodle is cooked right and they gave me plenty of veggie. The price is also very reasonable and the service is fast. I would definitely recommend here for quick lunch with friend/coworker.

This place is amazing. The food is fresh and on point. I’m in town for 11 days and eating here for the 2nd time and I definitely plan to come again before I leave NY. I ordered the curry puffs and green chicken curry. It’s soooooo yummy!

I don’t understand why this place is usually empty when I walk by, it should be full at all times. Der Krung is my go to for Seamless orders. They always deliver within 30 minutes(much faster than what Seamless predicts) and the food is always on point. My go to menu items are the Pad See Ew with Beef and Thai Iced Tea. Der Krung is really good Thai food and is a must try.

Maybe it’s because we were buzzed when we decided to eat here but the calamari was nice a tender, not chewy. Same thing with the triangle chive cake, I liked the nice crunch to it. We also had the green curry, which was good — but a little sweeter than I remembered from previous places that I had green curry. We also had the kee mao noodle, which was also very tasty and typical, can’t really go wrong with it along with the tom yum soup. And lastly we had the duck tamarind which didn’t quite taste like tamarind but had a good flavor, also a little on the sweet side though. I would definitely come back for the triangle chive cake and maybe try other dishes too.

Delivery time: ***** 25 minutes from order to eating. Price: *** Quality for the neighborhood: ** Come on. Too many awesome Thai restos in midtown to excuse suck-your-mouth-dry chicken and noodles that oily. And the $ 6 veggie spring rolls were half an inch tall, thickly rolled in rice wrapper, and 90% cabbage inside. Nope. Menu options: * Very little besides the tried and true, and even some of those were missing. I would order again only if I were on the brink of starvation and wouldn’t be able to wait 45 minutes for a normal meal.

Delicious Thai food! Came in here looking for a quick but quality dinner and that was exactly what I got. The inside is small, but nice. We were seated right away on a Saturday night. The service was incredibly fast! I ordered one of the vegetable and tofu stir fries, I can’t remember which, but it was very good. My dish was very flavorful. I wasn’t planning to eat it all and then. I did. That’s how tasty it was. Fun fact: my boyfriend ordered a curry, and it came in what looked like a giant coffee mug. Now that’s the way to eat curry. Not too expensive, either! I’d definitely return if I was in the area again.

The immediate area is lacking in good choices to eat but I stumbled upon this cozy little Thai restaurant and was very pleased! Service was attentive and the food was tasted great… not to mention the fair pricing. They do prefer tips in cash(noted when you get your check) but there is a tip line if you pay with plastic. Though its food doesn’t necessarily differentiate itself from many other Thai restaurants in Hell’s Kitchen, it’s the perfect spot to grab some decent Thai if you’re in the immediate area! Will definitely be back.

All in all, typical Thai food in a cozy restaurant. I came for lunch on a Saturday around 2, and there were four other tables eating(they had maybe 10 or so tables). We started off with their Der Krung steamed dumplings, which were filled with meat and looked like siu mai. However, I foudn them to be dry, small and not worth 6.50. For lunch, I ordered the ginger chicken, which had sautéed veggies(onions, bell peppers, carrots) and a good amount of chicken in a warm broth. The ginger taste was powerful(not my thing), so if you like ginger, this is probably the dish for you. My friend ordered the drunk noodles, which she really enjoyed. We called for spicy, and they brought out spicy. Overall, an average experience, and I’d try somewhere else for Thai next time.(Also, a cup of tea costs you 3 dollars!)

Very intimate, pleasant atmosphere. It’s a pretty narrow, small space, but there was no wait for a Friday dinner and I didn’t even have a rez. The waitress was a delight, the Thai food was tight. the portions were just right… I have absolutely no complaints about the service or food I received during my dinner! I would definitely go again and recommend it to a friend :)

Small Portions with Great Overall Quality *Note* My review is based on take-out only. Food: 4 Stars The majority of the dishes I have tried from Der Krung I have enjoyed. The overall quality of the dishes is above average in comparison to other Thai places I have gone to around the area. My dish of choice(as usual) is the Pad-Se-Ew. If you like scallions I recommend the Kua Kai. It is very similar to the Pad-Se-Ew but lacks the larger vegetables and replaces them with tastier ones(in my opinion) You can choose the overall spiciness of the dish. Even though I love spicy food, I immediately regretted trying the spicy pad thai. The heat was too much for me. I somehow finished the dish, but it was a level too high for me. If you love spicy food go for it, but in the meantime I will stick to the medium level of spiciness. The only dish I didn’t enjoy was the fried rice. I believe most people will enjoy it, but the flavors of the dish didn’t work well for me the day I had it. I’ll likely order it one more time in the near future to see if I truly don’t enjoy it or it was a one-time occurrence. Service/Speed: 3.75 Stars On the multiple occasions I’ve picked up my food I’ve only had to wait once. The remainder of the time my food was ready. I have had limited interaction with the staff at Der Krung, but from my first impressions are that they friendly and helpful. Ambiance: 3.75 Stars Judging from the seating inside the restaurant I’d be surprised if they are able to fit 20 – 25 patrons at one time. Even though it is a bit cramped, it doesn’t give off a cluttered feeling. The décor is standard. Nothing classy, nothing cheap, just straight up what is needed with a few mirrors styled as windows. I believe(if I ate in) I would have a nice relaxing lunch here. Overall: 4 Stars The portions may be on the small side, however the quality of the dishes remains higher than average. Not to mention the food is filling and is the right amount for the majority of people(even those with my largeish appetite). I like the options they provide to order the food online. Unlike the majority of restaurants that allow you to order online, Der Krung provides you with the option of how spicy you can make your dish. Whether you want the dressing on the side or on the salad itself(as well as the type of dressing) they will do it, just as if you ate in the restaurant. It doesn’t seem like much, but I enjoy adding variety to my meals even though the majority of them consist of Thai food. The lunch specials are competitively priced with the area. The lack of choice for sides is a bit discouraging, but the salad is good and I love the dressing they use. In the near future I will dine in are try the food once it leaves the kitchen.

Good, yummy Thai food. Kept it simple and just got some veggie dumplings and tofu pad Thai – both delicious. Sharing an app and entrée between two people is a good amount. And the Thai iced tea. Mmmmm. Came on a Saturday night and it was surprisingly mostly empty. Worth it for a yummy dinner if you’re in the neighborhood.
